some general notes to start: a lot of the motion required by the 3rd arm only utilizes the muscles of the back, along with the deltoid (and the lats + 'little lats' but i consider those to be part of the back muscle group). i had jotted down the known angles and positions wed been shown in trimax but those didnt make the crop so...🤷♂️
my personal takes:
it would work best and be the most straightforward approach to blend the organic muscle structure with the...well, "organic" additions. to do so, they would need a little extra wiggle room to properly connect things at the proper depth. leaving it along the surface as just an addition would probably give away a 'weak spot'—knowing how things have to be connected in order for something like that to Work means knowing where to hit thatll hurt like a BITCH and potentially stun / incapacitate razlo in the midst of things.
(of course, when it gets blasted off by ww, its pretty obvious that it hurts like a bitch anyways. but cmon a blasted magazine jammed in your back is Gonna Hurt)
now, i did say "organic" above—lets dig a little deeper into my hc sandbox, shall we?? there are a couple ways things could go: solely mechanical (lost tech could do Many Things...), the cadaver approach (i mean...), or the "failed experiment" approach (depends on how much you wanna blend canons between stamp and max on that one).
solely mechanical: the eye probably has a lot of access to tech that others may not have thanks to conrad (ew). given the weapons they produce, it wouldnt be far fetched!! i prefer a blend of mechanical and organic myself, but the opportunities are endless.
cadaver: they would likely have...quite a few bodies in different states, given the inherent level of violence it takes to become an assassin. finding someone who has the same bloodtype, similar levels of The Juice Blend (serum), things that would make the transplant Compatible—either that would be Real Easy or Real Hard. again, depends on the stance taken here. going off just bloodtype? easy. serum? harder. much harder, given it Seems there arent many who have the same autoregen that lr has. i could be wrong but wws reaction to it makes me Think.
experimental: mixing some of stamps ideas as far as "building" or "creating" new plants (i think ep 10 or 11??) in tanks makes for an interesting theory, i must say. fusing organic tissues from "failed" plants would be good for a more "natural" approach, potentially even allowing for a higher likelihood of their body accepting the transplant. this would also lead to...interesting conversations in the postcanon klr department. potentially knives blows a fucking gasket part two.
anyways, back to the topic at hand: the diagram
including thin plating under the layer of muscle, however you want to approach it, leads to an easier slide over more "stiff" anatomical areas—the spine, scapular zones, etc.
the muscle could overlap the existing "base" musculature, allowing lr to keep the regular function to their Actual Arms, but it would lead to a more thin, stretched connection to the 3rd arm. yet another reason to kind of "nestle" the port and humeral extension between their shoulders, while still allowing for the surface muscle to expand and contract to properly move it. the humeral extension leans more into cadaver territory, given that it would be easiest to apply a prothesis approach based on an "available information" bias.
the blood / vein and nervous connections allow for more tactile sense in the arm—how tight to grip a weapon without misfiring would require that!! as well as having a general idea of Where it is and What Position its resting in. from what i can tell, having the palm rotated outward and keeping it curled seems to be the natural resting position, but i could be wrong. it could also rest palm in and just...down. could also depend on the situation, whether hes holding a punisher, etc.
at the "core" or base of the arm, there would likely be...somewhat of a mirrored delt situation necessary in order to pull the arm up, rotate it, etc. along with a mirrored scapula and "spine" of the scapula!! just to have a good, solid base. the addition of an extra clavicle down and back would also help form a good "starting point" for the muscle to build off of, along with providing extra connected muscle that may be necessary for motion.
of course i am no medical expert and i could be very wrong on all of this. dont care though. these are my thoughts. My Sandbox.

i just dont think we discuss the time after the ark > returning to hopeland enough. i dont think they went straight back, and i would like to offer you my reasons why and various hcs so. bear with me.
looking at everything lr went through in the eom Alone, im just...not convinced the heel turn livio showed to vash was entirely genuine. not saying it was total lie or that he was outright faking it, per se, but i do think he was playing it up a bit.
ww put a lot of faith in him, and because of that, vash extended grace and forgiveness that he likely felt he didnt deserve. of course hes going to show his best side first. hes going to try and convince even himself that hes capable of becoming something "better".
but healing is not that clearcut or simple. it never is. on top of processing the loss of ww, one of the first people to show him any sort of kindness and understanding whatsoever, there is also processing the fact that he was brainwashed / indoctrinated into a literal deathcult. there is grappling with and properly feeling the emotions that have been stifled for years under the eye. just before wws arrival at hopeland, chapel (i believe—the speech bubbles are ambiguous but thats the energy given to me) points out that livios breathing is different. there is no room for feelings when your every fucking breath is monitored and accounted for.
did he feel when he spilled blood? was he aware of those feelings, or were they immediately pushed back and down after a while? what did it take to get to that point?
throw razlo into the mix, and you have an even worse time. mourning chapel, despite his betrayal in the end, and the large conflicting feelings that would come from it. the manipulation he endured from chapel only serves to complicate things in the end. were the things chapel did actually wrong? he hasnt really known anything else, so maybe thats the way things are supposed to be, and everyone else is wrong.
itd be likely they would both have to sort everything out before returning to hopeland, and even then, problems could come up. how are you supposed to treat kids? they dont have much for a frame of reference. so they would probably observe jasmine and melanie Very Closely, at least until they got caught doing so. how do you tell the one person youve considered a motherly figure about the things that keep you up at night, when theyre so bad. if you tell her, will she reject you and turn you away just like everyone else?

hi teehee hiii. chapter six is titled " the return. " an obvious call to livio coming back, keeping razlo from finishing wolfwood off. while thats a key moment, id like to explore the rest of the chapter, as well!!
this chapter actually delves incredibly deep into razlo's character, which makes it one of my favorites. (im biased. so what sue me. hes like an interesting bug to me.) as we know, the chapter opens with wolfwood just absolutely unloading on razlo as he struggles to regenerate from his injuries. while this parallels the pain vash has experienced thus far, im more interested in razlo's train of thought here.
as a protective alter, by design, razlo is no stranger to pain. for him to acknowledge it to this degree is exceptionally telling of just how bad it was. the reprieve he was offered was only due to wolfwood maxxing out. almost immediately, we see razlo shift gears again, moving back to "i have an opening to finish this." a common misconception, in my opinion, is the idea of him naturally chasing that opening.
while this could be the case, given the past information we have about him, its also an important nod towards the eye of michaels indoctrination he and livio faced, and the manipulation of razlo's "natural behaviors". weve seen to this point he is someone who chooses direct action over words. this can be attributed to the abuse that brought him about, believe it or not!!! he was shown pleading for help, begging for it to stop. unfortunately, that garnered him no results, leading him to believe action (removing the threat from the source) was the best answer.
examples of this trait include not only their parents, but the puppy, the members of the eye he eliminated, all the way up to how he approaches wolfwood. analyzing this is where it gets interesting To Me. razlo views wolfwood as a major threat. whether that is due to the implications that come with failure, wolfwoods actions towards master chapel, or the knowledge of the skills wolfwood possesses when compared to is own is a touch ambiguous.
inherently, razlos end goal is to protect livio.
regardless of how the eye of michael programmed and shaped their relationship as a system, he will default to keeping livio safe. eliminating the source of the threat directly is the only effective way hes been shown to do so—pulling a weed from the roots instead of trimming it back, so to speak.
circling back to the shift in gears we see, theres a lot of different reasons razlo would have done that to consider before "he just wants to kill". however, when livio returns, this can be further cleared up!!!
livio's return and his implied direction causes razlo to push back against him ("you tryna give me a damn order?"). from what we know about him, this seems like a moment he considers himself more capable than livio. however, with later interactions, it becomes much more "you dont get to tell me what to do because you arent above me; we stand on equal ground," rather than thinking livio is beneath him.
but theres something interesting here, even without later details. razlo starts crying, just for a second. with the sheer loss and betrayal razlo has just faced with chapel turning on him, willing to kill him just to get to wolfwood, livio telling him its over and pulling him back likely feels like another person turning on him. his character is heavily implied to be tied directly to those he cares about, and those who care about him. thats been shaken beyond belief in this moment—he feels alone (see him asking wolfwood why he would "throw him back into a pit of loneliness" after chapels initial death), and that is devestating to him.
the feeling of loneliness despite holding a place within a system is critical. it shows he doesnt feel as though he and livio are "whole". "ill never be whole again" is another key line here. the moment he thinks it makes it seem like hes worried about his physical being, but it could just as easily be an underlying fear of failure as a protector.
much of razlos character is driven by his fear of failing. if he fails the assignment, there are implications that the eye will never take them back. theyll be forced to find somewhere to belong again, where they will feel needed. to be needed rather than wanted is to be loved. theres no other way to prove he and livio "deserve" to hang around. this is what they know and understand right now. chapel was the only one that showed razlo he was needed. right up to here:
livio acknowledges that razlo has taken the brunt of the horrible things that have happened.
i know what youre thinking. "rue this just makes it seem like livio doesnt need razlo at all what the fuck are you talking about." steeples my fingers and sniles so sneetly.
this acknowledgement is livio's way of telling razlo "youve done a good job. youve done what you needed to do. you have done enough. i am okay thanks to you." this, again, is My Personal Perception And Interpretation. as a collective / system myself, "taking a break" is terrifying in and of itself. this is the first time livio has felt confident and safe enough that razlo can take a step back. theyve balanced the scales. livio is strong enough to be on his own, and that was the goal all along. razlo spent so much time and so much effort keeping livio safe, showing he cares / worries in his own strange ways, but he doesnt have to anymore. he can rest for now. he can take the time to process and grieve the things he needs to, the things they need to, because livio is safe on his own out there.
this has gotten so long jesus christ. i lobe...lr....i love lr. i love razlo hes so special to me. my favorite bug to dissect. i love systems being portrayed fairly accurately in media. lr isnt a perfect example, but theyre a damn good one. heems.

•rebuilding his right side during his fight with vash ended up a little wonky due to energy rationing—dont wanna run yourself Completely dry buddy
•because of this, he was left with pretty heavy scarring on that side, mostly around his lower ribs and parts that are farther from his gate, but spread basically across that whole side of his body. his range of motion can be limited / uncomfortable at times!!
•he grew his hair out less by choice and more by "i could Not give a shit less". it aids in disguising himself more though so he keeps it longer on purpose after a while. usually has a little bit of scruff goin on because. again. who is he trying to impress here 🤨
•he can still pull a Little from his gate, oftentimes making small trinkets just to prove he still can. if you pass the vibe check, he will give you One Trinket. if he thinks youre extra special he will give you Multiple
•he eventually softens over time, leaning more into who he was before tessla. unfortunately he bottled a Lot of shit up so once the dam breaks he spends another half an hour trying to pull himself together. hes not Nice by any means but hes Less Outwardly Hostile
•dresses more in a "western" style just because he Can. he usually has a longer cloak / poncho on when hes out and about. whether its for disguise or because it just feels nice he will never tell.
•any sign of power he has left can be found in his eyelashes and eyebrows mostly, little glimmers of platinum that you can only see if you squint reeeally hard.
•he mostly hangs around hopeland with lr. entirely unsure of kids at first, but he figures them out as they figure him out. melanie takes a while to warm up to him, but will NOT stop mother-henning him as soon as she does. he serves as kind of an errand boy along with lr.
•hes allowed to wander off on his own but not unarmed. he cannot fire a gun to save his life but give that man a knife and he will rain hellfire upon anyone who crosses him.
•hes more scared of the lack of direction / purpose he has now than anything else. humans still make him nervous, but hes learning to get along with them slowly.
•he gets his enrichment and exercise during the morning with raz and a few other kids. (raz refuses to let their regimen slip and insists on doing laps at the Bare Minimum. "never know if we'll have to come out of retirement" is his reasoning)
•he absolutely has a favorite kid but you wont catch him dead admitting it
my friend got me thinking about it again, so this first one goes out to lr and their tattoo 🫵😤
a theory of mine has always been that it somewhat acts like the black paint baseball players use!! having two suns has to be SUPER bright. it would be beneficial for distanced targets, weapon/metal/glass glare, etc.
paired with the implication that raz sees better/has "sharper" vision than liv, it would make the most sense to put it on "his" side (quotes bc my brothers in christ you Share the body). you would want the one whos built for
...wait. WAIT. W A IT. punishers are a better long range weapon. IS LIV THE ONE WHO GETS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL USUALLY—
anyways. the one whos built for tracking movement and predicting their opponents next move to be able to Uhhhh See. my god that just opened so many more cans to rummage through. the extra lines could go more than one way to me but. wait theres no fuckiign character limit holy shit i can just keep GOING.
keeping the theory/hc(? may be confirmed i gotta reread again) that the eye more or less "worships" or "follows" plants/knives, the lines Could be an implication/callback to plants and their patterns...or they could just be for fun and flavor. we may never know. lr you are so 💥✨️‼️ to me ily never change.
