But seriously though, I’d like to wish everyone out there on the Inter-Web a Happy Independence Day.
My parents always taught me that America is a country that takes care of those that need help, people who have suffered or fallen on hard times for no other reason than to just simply help. That we’re a country that envelops everyone in an embrace-any race, creed, religion, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, or gender/gender identification. At our core-we’re a country that loves.
Now though this country has fallen into a hole, a dark pit of fear and paranoia lead by an angry spiteful child who’s still searching for affection his father denied him, and a political party who bolstered it all for a taste of power without fully understanding how to lead over how to obstruct. It’s probably the lowest we’ve ever been.
But I truly believe that we can climb out of this dismal pit back into the sun, back to our true selves and warmth we used to know and share
We’re still in here under all the soot and grime, the true believers of the land of the free, the home of the brave, the land who took in all tired, poor, and huddled masses into a better world for every person who draws breath.
May everyone be healthy and save this holiday, and let us all move forward into a better tomorrow :)
This is cute as hell XD

Whatever happens tomorrow you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are. Not a perfect soldier but a good man.
Happy 100th Birthday, Cap ⭐❤ ✨
The Last Tony’s Commercial Round-up!
*Congrats to The Band’s Visit! It seems like a great show & I would love to see it. All of them did really! I wish very show got an award, esp. learning last year that not getting any can really hurt a show (RIP Bandstand, Great Comet of 1812, and my beloved Groundhog Day).
* Josh Groban & Sara (nice to see a fellow no-H Sara ;p) Bareilles closing song was nice. I thought that they did a good job tonight. They weren’t as flashy as past hosts, but they had a great charm about them and I would love to see them team up for other things :)
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #10
*CBS just gave us gender-swapped Jenna Hunterson & Pierre Bezukhov. You’re welcome Internet ;p
*Congrats to Tony Shalhoub for The Band’s Visit! His speech was very humble and poignant. (Though, I was kinda pulling for the Spongebob kid-he really embodied the character so well and took something that sounds like a joke on paper and turned it into something great)
* And double The Band’s Visit love with Katrina Lenk’s win for lead actress! Just from that little taste we got in the spotlight performance, I was enamored.
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #9
*Wooo! Congrats to Once on This Island for Best Revival! This seems like another “Tony’s Pool--Shattered” moment. That is some feat to beat out Carousel and My Fair Lady. I loved that the producer was just as shocked.
*Damn It CBS!! You DON’T bleep-out De Niro! Esp. if he is laying down some epic shit-talking! Internet wizards! To your Keyboards! Please tell me what he said!
* Once more for the cheap seats . . . .*inhales dramaticly* . . . BBBBRRRUUUUCCCCEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
*To quote my New Jersey-ian Father on Springsteen: “He’s a Story-Telling Son-of-a-Bitch!” I think that sums things up rather nicely ;p
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #8
*John Leguizamo def. knows how to tell a story!
*Congrats to Angels in America! Those acceptance speeches were amazing and worthy of the social importance of the play it’s self
* The performance from The Band’s Visit was so amazingly chilling. They created so much energy with just two people in chairs! Top Notch!
And now a comment on some actual commercials :)
* Can’t wait for the New Mary Poppins! Wished it was a new trailer though instead of the superbowl one
*Was anyone else kinda grooving to that Progressive commercial w/the acapella Heaven’s a Place on Earth? Just me ‘cause I’m a weirdo. Okay. ;p
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #8
*Those three actresses really kicked-ass at those Donna Summers songs.
*Love the multi-color suits of the “Boys in the Band” actors :)
*Congrats to Harry Potter & the Cursed Child . I know the story can get wonky at times (I’ll get into spoilers in a different post), but I think it was an interesting look at parenthood and legacy and how you can affect the people around you in ways you didn’t intend and how to truly talk to each other about it.
*Jeez Tonys, you couldn’t have given that last Harry Potter producer a chance to talk for a sec.? It’s not like any of them were monologue-ing or anything
*Once on this Island is another musical that I heard about in tumblr-land and now get to finally see. It was so lively and creative! I really loved the mixture of the modern and the ancient culture-living in the now while honoring the past. I thought that building an actual island was so cool! I really hope this tours :)
*Nathan Lane was having None of that goat ;p
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #7
*Loved how they did the Lifetime Achievement Awards montage, seemed more personal
*Congrats to Directors David Cromer (The Band’s Visit) and John Tiffany (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two). I have the upmost respect for directors-those who have to wrangle insanity into something people are gonna want to sit for 3-4hrs to watch
*It was very sweet that Tiffany want to honor his boyfriend on his birthday . . . but the boyfriend in question looked like he wanted to die from akwardness ;p
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #6
*Groban is secretly Harry Potter . . . That checks out. ;p
*Seriously though, does anyone else think that the guy playing Harry (Jamie Parker I think his name is) look a hell of a lot like OG Harry Radcliffe?
*Always great to see Patty Lupone
*Not to sound like a jerk, but what the hell was Claire Danes wearing? It looked like a tacky couch cover of a middle-age divorce living in Miami in the 70′s
*Congrats to Glenda Jackson for “Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women” . Kicking ass in Parliament and the stage
*That Reindeer puppet for Frozen is seriously impressive
* I know it was probably originally conceived by Disney as a corporate cash-grab, but the Frozen performance was cool. The choreography was fun, the costumes were spot-on, and the performances upbeat and electric. Though, I would have liked to have seen an original song from the show as opposed to the movie ones I’ve seen 50 billion times to better judge the show separate from the film, but t was still nice.
*And I’m gonna be That nerd, but shouldn’t Elsa be wearing gloves in the “First Time in Forever” segment? ;p
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #5!
*Ari’el Stachel gave a wonderful acceptance speech for The Band’s Visit (a film that has been languishing on my Netflix DVD queue-yes, I still get those. Def. going to the top now). Positive Middle-Eastern representation is still so unjustly low, so happy this is getting such wonderful recognition :)
*Damn Ming-Na Wen is rocking that dress as well as Melinda May is at kicking ass! ;p (Shout-out to all my AOS nerds!)
* Words can’t describe how moving that performance was from the Parkland Drama Dept.-giving such profound new depth to “Season’s Of Love”. These kids are so strong, I can’t speak highly enough.
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #4!
*Loved that “Holy Shit!-- Eight Show’s A Week Is Super-Hard” song by Bareillis & Groban. Loved the gold spangly suits even more ;p
*Congrats to Itamar Moses for The Band’s Visit book! (esp. cause I thought they were gonna give it to Tiny Fey for pure “Ooo a famous person” factor)
*Tatiana Maslany!!!! Clone Club for life!!!!!
*Nathan Lane is a national treasure. That is alll.
* The Carousel song was neat, if a bit basic. The choreography seemed a tad more interesting than the song, but I enjoyed it (I’ve never seen it, so trying to figure out the story from just the bit description was hard. Remember, theater newb ;p)
Tony’s Commercial Round-up #3
*BBBRRRRUUUUCCCEEEEEE!!!!!!!
*So I guess the baby pic thing is gonna be a trend . . .I approve :)
*Congrats to Carousal’s Lindsay Mendez!
*Wow! That Spongebob Musical was pretty impressive! I remember a year ago people on hear posting pic & stuff about it, though I’d admit to a bit of side-eyeing from myself. That Squidward song was very creative (seriously, how does he dance with those extra legs?!?!) and totally captured the essence of the character (my fav as a kid ;p). The Spongebob intro was snarky yet sweet.
Commershal break #2 Round-up!
*Bareilles’s & Groban’s baby theater dork pics were cute. Eat your heart out Lloyd Webber indeed ;p
*Yea Laurie Metcalf! She is so amazing in everything she touches! Seriously, try to think of something she was shit it? You can’t can you
* The My Fair Lady mash-up was pretty cool! I know I’m a theater newby still, but it seems like that they never did that before , usually doing one whole song instead of a medley. I kinda like the mash-up, so that you can get a sense of more of a show .
Live blogging the Tony’s . . . .during the commercials ‘cause I can’t type that fast ;p
* The opening song was really cute! Love the self -depreciation of the host’s Tony track record
*Holy shit, did anyone see Andrew Garfield winning Best Actor in a Play over Denzel? I’m pretty sure any Tony pools were just shattered to pieces in that moment. Loved his heart-felt speech
*Call me a Bitter Bitch (The August Wilson will always belong to GHD damn it) if you want but . . .I thought the Mean Girls song was uninspired and bland. The lyrics had no real substance or hook and the melody was “Plucky intro song #5). I just don’t get it (never liked the movie either)
*Please excuse the “All Caps” of this next message*
HOLY SWEET CHOCOLATE FUCKBALL CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!! THE SUPERNATURAL/SCOOBY-DOO CROSSOVER WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EITHER SHOW HAS DONE!! IT WAS FUNNY AS HELL! IT WAS DETAILED (STORY & “IN JOKES” FROM BOTH SHOWS) AS SHIT! THE ACTING WAS TOP-NOTCH! AND IT JUST WAS A PERFECT MESH OF THE CHILDLIKE WONDER OF SCOOBY-DOO & DARK CREATIVITY OF SUPERNATURAL! WOOOOOO!
*cough* *cough* Ahum . . . Thank you for indulging me in that emotional outburst. I’m not usually one for hyped-up hyperbole, but this was a really important moment for me as a long-time SPN fan and an even longer Scooby fan. I’ just so ecstatic that it turned out so well! I’m totally going to have to watch the episode again so I can give a more nuanced review ;-D
