Edo Ichi Penang
Japanese cuisine can be addictive. Yet, not many Japanese restaurants in Penang serve authentic Japanese food. Edo Ichi Penang in Tanjung Tokong received good reviews and was rated as one of the best Japanese restaurant in Penang. The price was reasonable and acceptable, most importantly the food worth the price.
I went there with my family in conjunction of my mother’s birthday celebration last month. The meal was on my dad. So we have ordered many dishes and I can assure you that all food are really delicious and savoury.
As appetizer, we have ordered Fried Tempura Baby Shrimps. It was crispy and not too oily. The lemon juice helped a lot on getting rid of the greasiness.
Appetizer number 2: Fried “Gyoza” Dumplings.
Appetizer number 3: Steamed Oyster with Garlic. Opt for the fresh oysters but not the frozen ones. As the frozen ones have heavy fishy taste.
Japanese Curry Rice with Chicken “Katsu” (Deep fried breaded chicken chop).
Stir Fried Assorted Seafood with Teriyaki sauce. This was not too impressive to my taste as the seafood were not fresh enough.
Edo Ichi Pizza. This dish was the most impressive and signature one! As the base was not normal pizza dough but RICE BASED! The toppings were half of Smoked Salmon and Unagi (eel).
My family and I enjoyed very much of the food served in Edo Ichi. It was a great experience savouring authentic Japanese food. We will definitely go back to this restaurant in the future! Drop by Edo Ichi that located in the Island Plaza Penang if you really want some good food with good ambiance.
With love, Lynn.
