(( sorry i havenāt really been around! the expansion for final fantasy xiv recently came out so iāve been trying to get to level 60 -- which i did yesterday -- and complete the story since itās gotten really good. iāll try and work on replies when i can, but i really want to focus on ff14 since iāve been going through it with my sister and a few friends! ))

Hibiki doubted his doppelgƤnger was okay (who wouldĀ be okay in this kind of situation?), but he decided to not comment on it. He took the otherās advice and remained seated on the couch with his eyes closed. As he tried to focus on anything but his hurting body, he wondered if this was what his friends had felt like whenever he had tried to sooth them and cheer them up when times had been bad.
āItās fine. You can ask me questions too.ā Hibiki mumbled, slowly opening his eyes to look at the other. Inside their place he could have a better look at thisĀ doppelgƤnger. It was odd seeing himselfĀ non-mirrored. So this was how people saw him?
āā¦But there is something I would like to ask you first. Itās going to be confusing if I can only call you my own name. Could we start calling each other something differently? It would only be a temporary solution, but I was thinking of calling you Shiro and myself Kuro.ā
Perhaps that was a stupid idea, but it had come to Hibiki suddenly. Shiro seemed to fit his doppelgƤnger better for his hoodie was still white. Hibikiās hoodie on the other hand was dirty and partly burnedā¦ black almost. If the other didnāt dislike it Shiro and Kuro would do for now.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Hibiki was a little hesitant to agree to asking his other self questions -- with how exhausted he looked, wouldnāt it be better for his doppelgƤnger to rest instead of pondering what should be the impossible? -- but after a few moments, he slowly nodded when the other Hibiki locked gazes with him. If the roles had been reversed, Hibiki had no doubt that he would be answering the same way, even if it meant pushing himself a little. His other self likely wanted answers, and sitting around wouldnāt give them to him. To that end, it was probably better for Hibiki to agree; they could discuss the situation and then he could force his other self to rest.
Ā Ā Ā Before he could say anything else, he was a little surprised to hear that his doppelgƤnger already had a question for him. It was a good point, too; it would be confusing to call each other by their own names ( And Hibiki was almost certain that neither of them wanted to call each other what they thought was rightfully their name, anyway. ), and even more so if they ran into one of their friends. He wasnāt sure how he felt giving his other self the darker of the two names, however, but seeing as he was the one to think of the idea in the first place, Hibiki thought it was only right for him to have the final call.
Ā Ā Ā ā... Yeah, youāre right,ā he responded. āItāll probably make things easier on us if we do that. Daichi and Io, too, when we run into them again.ā The only problem he foresaw was explaining the situation to his -- their -- parents, and their friends if they truly didnāt recall the events of the Septentrione invasion. Hibiki sighed at the thought; it was probably going to be a long few days...
Ā Ā Ā āI have a ton of questions, but now that I can ask them, I have no idea where to start. We need to figure out how to handle our friends and parents -- if we wanna hide this from them or tell them the truth -- and...ā There was a pause as he tried to figure out how to phrase his next sentence, ā... I... ... Thereās something I need to know, too. ... I have a feeling I already know the answer, but... something happened over the past eight days, right? Itās... why youāre like this.ā His gaze dropped to... Kuroās hoodie -- burned, torn, bloodied -- and he added, ā... You fought Polaris.ā
(( i finally got around to making an au page so yeah thatās a thing that exists now. only have a pokemon au currently for the crew since they follow me on their pokemon blogs, but more will be added as needed. ))

Ā Ā Ā āI just remembered something I have to do! Something far, far away from your lab! Gottagobye!ā ā BOLTS FOR IT.
"Dude you think I have a chance with Miyako? Be honest!" Hes's totally expecting a yes.
Ā Ā Ā Ohhh boy. Hibiki has two options here: One is to crush Daichiās hopes and dreams quickly and efficiently, and the second is to let Miyako do it. āUhā¦ I mean, you probably, uh, stand, umā¦ ā¦ You probably stand a better chance with Io?ā Thatāsā¦ actually probably not true at all. āI donāt care about Daichi at all!ā huhā¦ Part of him wonders if Daichiās still wounded from that. āBut, uh, think about it this way! Letās say you do wind up with Miyako, and later down the line you get married or something. Do you really want Yamato as a brother-in-law?ā Maybe Yamato will discourage him. Please let Yamato discourage him.
Ā Ā Ā Ah, perfect. He wonāt be making this any more difficult than it has to be. Good to see.
Ā Ā Ā āGood morning, Hibiki,ā he greets with as pleasant a smile as he can muster before moving to lean against the doorframe. He wonāt be giving him the chance to slam it shut and start him back from square one. ( Not that it would matter even if he were to. He was being generous when he offered Hibiki the chance to get up and out of bed himself. Itās not as though unlocking a door within his own branch is beyond his abilities. )
Ā Ā Ā āHave you finally decided to grace us with your presence?ā
Ā Ā Ā All Hibiki does in response to Yamatoās greeting ( And that stupid smile. ) is blow raspberries at him. He narrows his eyes further when Yamato leans against the door frame -- preventing him from closing the door and going back to sleep -- and with a groan, he crosses his arms. He knows they have work to do -- hell, theyāre almost there; all they need to do is find the path to Polaris, defeat her, and regress the world -- but itās not like an extra five or ten minutes of sleep will kill them, damn it! They donāt even know where to look! Hibiki could have slept for a bit longer and then searched wherever everyone else hadnāt! God damn it, Yamato!
Ā Ā Ā Heās going to remember this. Heās going to remember, and heās going to get revenge.
Ā Ā Ā āItās not like youāre giving me much of a choice,ā he replies with a huff. āI bet you anything that Daichi and Joe are doing the same thing; whyād you have to single me out...?ā A sigh follows his question, but after a few moments, he at least says, ā... Good morning.ā
ā Well if weāre wrong at least I have a Pixie as cannon fodder?ā he looks back to his phone to see the small creature pout at him. Great just what he needed, demons with attitude.
Thereās an alert on his phone, as the Agathion is placed in his demon party. Well heāll be surprised that actually worked. Honestly he was expecting it to blow up in his face and like corrupt his app leaving him more useless than he already is. Thank god that didnāt actually happen.
ā Yup! It worked! And now to go fuse that Tobyou thingā¦ So wait is there a way to transfer Macca?ā
Ā Ā Ā āDonāt let her hear you say that; youāre gonna be the one fighting with her if you canāt fuse her.ā Glancing over at Daichiās phone, though, it looks like itās already too late for that. Whoops. Speaking of which, maybe he shouldnāt have called Agathion a little shit before making sure he could send it over to Daichi. If it doesnāt work, itās probably going to give him hell for name calling.
Ā Ā Ā But an alert sounds from Daichiās cell phone, and looking back at his own, heās able to confirm that Agathion was ( Thankfully. ) successfully transferred to Daichiās application. Heās actually a little surprised that it worked, too, but heās definitely not going to complain. All it means is that heāll be able to do more to ensure his best friendās safety.
Ā Ā Ā Daichi brings up a good point, nonetheless. If itās possible to transfer demons, it should theoretically be possible to transfer macca as well. ā... There... might be? Maybe? Possibly? I mean, trading demons didnāt mess with our apps, so we can probably screw around a little more and find out after you fuse Toubyou.ā
āSomeone was asking you to find her? Nope, not buying in Hibiki-kun. You ought to know better.ā She says with a self satisfying smile on her features, though her fingers were itching to deal with that confounded button. It will be hers for it had eluded the scientist for so long!Ā āSorry, but if you continue to struggle I will have to cut you open. Unless youāre wanting me to then I have no qualms against it. After all, itās just a button. Why so afraid?ā
Ā Ā Ā āYeah, I figured as much. I thought it was worth a shot, anyway.ā That leaves him in quite the predicament, however. Fumi is not letting him go, so he needs to think of an excuse fast. āOkay, first off: Do not cut me open! I donāt want you to; leave my body alone!ā His heart accelerates when Fumi mentions slicing him open -- he has no doubt that sheāll do it -- and he tries stumbling through an explanation. āSecondly, Iām afraid of what youāll do after the button! ... I kinda really like this hoodie, too, but thatās not the point! I donāt wanna die, Fumi! Wasnāt the whole almost-losing-an-arm thing with the terminal enough of an experiment!?ā
Ā Ā Ā Hibikiās initial comment coaxes laughter from himā short, hollow, and devoid of any real mirth. So even heās surprisedā¦ That fact only serves to reaffirm that he should have called it quits ages ago. But, no significant harm has been done, he muses. A small bit of time may have been wasted on both this outing and the last, but itās not as though heās actively gone out of his way to achieve results on this front specifically. More than enough JPās agents have sworn allegiance to his cause by this point, so this failure is of no consequence. Even if heās unable to recruit anyone else now, his forces are already secured.
Ā Ā Ā āUnderstand: Regardless of whether or not itās a natural reaction, I have no interest in listening to justifications.ā Things grow quiet between them, and to break the silence, he thinks to ask if Hibikiās given any thought to whose ideals heāll be aligning himself with. But, thereās no doubt itās causing him enough stress as it is; bringing it up now and adding to the pressure would likely only push him beyond his reach and within Ronaldo Kurikiās grasp. Yamato has already made it clear that he has no intention of forcing anyone to side with him here ( Unlikely, but if worse comes to worst and Hibiki chooses to stand against him, then heāll see to it that he submits when the time comes. ), but heād rather not risk what chance he does have.
Ā Ā Ā Instead, he decides to maneuver the conversation elsewhere; already, he grows weary of discussing those that bear no true significance. āDo you require time to yourself, or would you like company on your walk?ā A part of him suspects that he would indeed prefer to be alone, but if thereās even a sliver of hope that he may allow it, then it couldnāt hurt to ask. It would probably be wiser for him to return to the Tokyo branch to see if thereās anyone else left that would be worth attempting to win over, but the prospect of spending some time with Hibiki sounds rather appealing right now.
Ā Ā Ā Hibikiās grown accustomed to Yamato laughing at most of his comments, though he has yet to figure out how to tell when itās genuine or mocking ( If Yamato has ever mocked him beyond their initial few meetings; he has a tendency to agree with his commentary afterwards, so that must be a good sign. ... Probably. He has no doubt that heās said some stupid things here and there, but the chief never seemed to reprimand him for it, so Hibiki will assume he was mostly disappointed that he confirmed his suspicions for the time being. ).
Ā Ā Ā Either way, he decides to keep his mouth shut when Yamato states that he has no intentions of listening to excuses. It was probably a stupid idea to justify the civiliansā actions in front of the chief regardless of how much sense their reasons made to Hibiki. They didnāt make sense to Yamato, and thatās what he should have considered before trying to defend them. It wouldnāt get anywhere if it turned into an argument; theyāre both stubborn -- Hibiki is aware of that by now -- and neither of them would back down from their stance on the situation. It was pointless for them to fight, especially now when tensions were high between everyone and the factions they were joining.
Ā Ā Ā He isnāt quite sure what to say to break the awkward silence between them, but before he can excuse himself and continue on his way, heās a little surprised to hear Yamato ask if he can accompany him. Part of him does wonder if he has an ulterior motive at first, but he quickly realizes that suspecting him will only widen the rift between them, so he decides to drop it in hopes of being able to understand the chiefās beliefs a bit better. Perhaps heāll be able to teach Yamato a couple of things, too, as unlikely as it is.
Ā Ā Ā ā... Yeah. Like I said, Iām just walking until I get tired enough to pass out. If you donāt mind wandering around for a bit, then Iām cool with it.ā He isnāt sure if heāll discuss whatās on his mind with Yamato -- he doesnāt know if Yamato will take that as his cue to try and recruit him to his side, and Hibiki doesnāt know how the chief will take to having his ideals being called āextremeā -- but perhaps he can ask about the meritocracy he envisions. Even if it isnāt what he wants to hear, itāll definitely help him come to a decision. ā... Would you mind if I asked you some stuff, too? We... ... We gotta make a decision soon, so I wanna make sure I have all the facts in front of me before I make mine.ā
