everyone to the conference room. alright, business pitch. moveee that coming out scene to the final stretch of season four. will dosen't do it out of guilt, and he dosen't do it to half of hawkins' population, either. at this point, mike very much still has his lesbian haircut and dresses more androgynous. upon finding out that will likes boys, he assumes that entails he likes "masculine/manly" boys and panickedly cuts the majority of his hair off with a pair of kitchen scissors in the bathroom of his house. everyone notices, will above all, but nobody questions it much as mike does have a history of making wild and impulsive decisions when it comes to his hair. yeah, the orange mohawk wasn't his brightest idea.

time skip to the eightteen months the byers spent residing with the wheelers. throughout this span of time, mike picks up on the fact that will has been growing his hair out. it's reached a flattering almost-shoulder-length, reminiscent of his bowl cut, except the ends flick outwards in luscious golden brown waves.

one night, while they're both attending to the dishes after a joint family dinner, will asks mike why he cut his hair after he went to visit the byers in lenora. he says it was to make him seem like more of a real man, one will could find a liking for. will retreats several steps back, the plates and cutlery long forgotten. then, in an attempt to fill the silence, mike asks what prompted will to keep his hair uncut; to which he says "i know you don't like boys, i know that. but i figured you'd think twice about that, if i looked more like a..." his voice trails off. he didn't say anything further. he didn't have to.

a moment passes, and they both burst into laughter at how stupid and oblivious they've both been. they end up keeling over and pulling each other onto the floor. as they're sitting cross-legged on the kitchen tiles with their backs against the sink, they share their first real kiss. an innocent spur-of-the-moment one, their pulling into one another almost an instinct of being at that such a close distance. who knew something they had so desperately waited for would've arose along with the weight of feeling the need to change for someone?

Chad's best man speech at Chloe and Red's wedding consists of four things,

1. Thanking everyone that put money into the bet that was "when is Chloe going to stop being dense." He had won that pot and would never let anyone forget it, because he knew his sister, and while they were both Charmings, awareness had skipped both of them. Red yells when he's finished that she was the one who had to deal with Chloe's obliviousness so really she deserved the money over everyone else, it could serve as her emotional compensation. (inspired by @ineedtherapydesperately)

2. Talking about Red, and how much he loved her, how he loved watching her grow up, getting to be the sibling she never had, the big brother she came too when she needed someone that wasn't Chloe or Bridget. He totally doesn't cry when he talks about the first time Red had confided in him about her feelings for his sister, about how he knew then and there that Chloe would have the best person looking after her heart. Chad talks about his favorite shenanigans of theirs, the ultimate one had been charming Chloe's mirror to show her hair as yellow, a neon yellow. He also talks about helping both of them with their proposals. Chad tells Red he loves her, and that she'll always be his favorite wonderlandian sister.

3. He can't even start Chloe's part before he starts blubbering. Through his tears he talks about his little sister, quite literally one of the most important people in his life. He talks about how growing up, he vowed to always take care of her. How he was always in her corner no matter what, just like she was his. How growing up, he couldn't have asked for a better sibling. Chad mentions his favorite moment of theirs, they had been in the car headed to the castle, top down and the radio blasting a song he couldn't remember, and Chloe had turned to him and said "Chad, you're the best brother i could've ever asked for." And well Chad had to pull over because he just needed to hug her right then and there. He ends the section by saying that he couldn't have asked for a better sister either, and that he would always be her big brother.

4. He turns to Red and Chloe to say this last part

"Red and Chloe, I am so proud of you two. I got to watch you grow up, fall in love, get married, and now i get to see you grow together for the rest of your lives. I will always support you, just like you have always done with me and Audrey. I will always be your big brother, and if you need anything i'm just a rabbit hole away, Love, Chad."

Both brides are crying when he gets back to his seat at the wedding party table, and if the hug the three share lasts for a good minute, nobody can do anything but smile and cry.

How do you think Auradon looked at any kind of non white type of hair? Basically any natural or protective styles?

Because I'm pretty sure the only time we've seen braids on an AK is Lonnie's cornrows in D2 lmao

Uma has her braids, Celia had more coily hair. Uliana had locs I think (even though I guess technically she didn't live in Auradon yet)

Evie and Carlos and even Mal started out with a little bit of wave then that was straightened to death after the first movie

Audrey always just had long mostly straight hair

Finally we got Chloe and her ever changing curl patterns in RoR, and Red had some waves too. For Red, straight hair was always linked with her being an evil mini me of her mother

I mean I know on a realistic level the hair styles are all to do with the people who made the movie, but still. On an intertextual level what do we think???

Okay, so we all know that Descendants made the canon a bit funky when they made it canon that Chad Charmings parents are Cinderella and Christopher Charming from the 1997 movie.

SO. My headcanon is that Cinderella and Charming had significant trouble conceiving, so they eventually adopted a baby that they went on to name Chad Charming. Maybe he is distantly related to them (and thus eligible for their crown?) on Christophers dad's side or even from Calliope (although this would mean that his parents died before/during his birth or when he was a baby.)

Anywho, so they adopt this sweet little baby- blonde hair with bright blue eyes, and even if he's not their biological son, everyone agrees that he very obviously has the traditional makings of a prince. They raise him like a little prince, spoiled and entitled, but at the very least, not cruel. Then he gets a little older and realizes that he doesn't look like mom or dad (and his schoolmates are cruel with the nicknames for the adopted prince) so he begins asking questions. What follows is a conversation about his birth, how they couldn't be blessed with a pregnancy but the world gave them the opportunity to adopt their precious little boy, and he was the best thing that has ever happened to them. This is around the time where they start feeling the itch to compensate- you are a prince and we will show you. Those mean little boys can't tease you when you are the luckiest boy in Cinderellasburg, can they?

Just as little Chad Charming, aged 6 or 7, starts to feel at ease with his identity

BAM. Cinderella is pregnant. Only this time, the pregnancy hits the 5 month mark. Then 6. Then 7. And Chad, who knows only that he is adopted is asking what this means. Is it a replacement baby? Is he not their baby anymore? Will they give him back? Will they still love him?

So, Cinderella and Christopher are FREAKING THE FUCK OUT because they finally have a healthy, viable pregnancy that is nearly full term, and their first child is convinced that he's going to be sent away so their "real heir" can take their throne. What other way can they prove him wrong than to spoil him rotten?

From letting him help decorate the nursery to letting him help choose Chloe's name, they do their best to remind him that they are a FAMILY and that she will be his sister, not his replacement.

They just also happen to give into his every whim and make everyone treat him like a fragile little boy. So he grows up to be spoiled, quite small-minded (as his obsession with everything being "perfect",) and a desperate bully.

I bet Chad and Chloe grew up thinking they were allergic to pumpkin.

Like, after Cinderella and Charming got married and their story got famous, whenever people wanted to give Cindy gifts, it was pumpkin themed. And it was cute at first! But after, like, a decade of being gifted nothing but pumpkin shaped, pumpkin scented, and pumpkin flavored things, Cindy definitely got sick of it.

When Chad and Chloe were born, though, they were both absolutely enamored with their parents' story because of course they were! And they wanted to have pumpkin everything! But Cindy was So Completely And Entirely Done With It that she just told them they were allergic pumpkins and that it was a side effect of Fairy Godmother's spell.

Chad doesn't find out until he catches Fairy Godmother in the hallway one day and decides to ask her about it. She says that that's complete nonsense and he loses his mind. He and Audrey make plans to go out that Halloween and eat all of the pumpkin flavored stuff they can find. His favorite is baked pumpkin seeds, which they made themselves after carving jack o' lanterns. He also starts drinking mainly pumpkin spice lattes purely for the name, even though they both know there isn't any actual pumpkin in it.

Chloe finds out because she explains it to Red while Red is eating a pumpkin pie she got for lunch and Red tells her that that is complete and utter bullshit. Chloe doesn't believe her, so Red writes to Maddox, who then confirms that that is complete and utter bullshit. The next day, Chloe decides to get some pumpkin pie.

Chloe is allergic to pumpkin, though, it's just completely unrelated to magic. She has a really bad allergic reaction in the middle of the cafeteria and misses school that day. Chloe never stops bringing it up and Red never stops apologizing.

Chad being Chloe's best man at her wedding because he's the first person she told about her feelings for Red and he talked her out of the ridiculous notion that Red didn't feel the same because he had watched those two girls grow up and seen how Red looked at his sister and he'd be damned if he let his sister throw away the best thing to ever happen to her.

Chad being her best man because there had been no one more supportive than him because as douchey as he could be, he loved his sister above all else and he was going to stand behind her happiness always, whether it was with a VK or not, he also loved red because even though she was an absolute smart ass, she made his sister happy and they had an agreement that chloe was the most important thing in the world

Chad being her best man because he helped her plan the proposal and talked some sense into her when she didn't know if she could do it, too scared of rejection when he had insider knowledge of also helping red plan her proposal for the exact same night and he couldn't wait to cackle with audrey when they realized he had been helping them both

Chad being her best man because other than red, He was and is her best friend and the best brother she could've ever asked for and how better for her to thank him than to have him stand by her side in what will be one of the most important days of her life (second to the birth of her children)
