[ Hyperlasers alone at a bar. He chose a new spot to visit, unfamiliar with the bartender and patrons around here he felt... Exposed. He stuck out like a sore thumb with his helmet and Blackrock uniform he really should stop wearing. ]

[ He sighed, grabbing a fresh glass of whiskey and downing it. Hyperlaser seemed different. More down on himself. More... Emotional. Obviously hes on a quest to try and get himself drunk, which was very rare to see from anyone who knew him. ]

[ Something must've happened clearly. ]

[ Like he was waiting for news about to break out. ]

The doorbell chimes as an unfortunately familiar Inphernal walks in. He's wearing his finest clothes (plus a cheap paper party hat...). It's a celebration, after all!

He picks a seat right next to Hyperlaser, glancing over in his direction.

"I know I said drinks were on me, but you should really pace yourself with that stuff! Bad for you, and bad for my wallet, haha!"

He smiles at Hyperlaser. No more need for threats. No more need for coercion. He did his job and now it's time to get paid.

[ This was the last person he wanted to see right now, especially in the internalized state he was in. Hyperlaser didn't want he hear nor see this idiots mere presence. He clenched his glass and stared downwards not paying attention to him. He just wanted to drown his sorrows and move on, never wanting to be seen like this. ]

[ He grumbled, not looking at him as he started to sip as his glass once more. Hyperlaser just wanted some peace. But of course he can't ever get what he wants. ]

He kicks his legs, leaning against the counter, smiling at his new Family member. All the hostility from before is strangely... gone.

In fact, he actually reaches up and takes off the party hat with no fuss.

"Ahhh, sorry... I forget what it's like to be that close to someone, you know? Just got excited is all, this has been in the making for a while."

He turns to the bartender, ordering another of whatever Hyperlaser is drinking.

"If it makes you feel any better about the whole thing, if it wasn't you, it would've been someone else. And they wouldn't have been nearly as clean with it. It was a good shot!"

He thinks he's being helpful, lifting the mercenary up. Praising Hyperlaser's abilities like that. The ability to betray and murder cleanly. It's sickening.

But he likely knew that already and was just saying all of this bullshit to mess with his feelings. [ Hyper was silent for awhile, feeling even worse as Broker complimented his skills. This was the worst thing he could hear right now.. Hyperlaser grimaced and glared at Broker. Just looking at him made him want to forget even more. The mercenary did not want to be here with him right now. ]

"Well, I did come to meet my new Family member, but... I also came to give you your reward for living up to your end of the deal! We can get you to Lost Temple whenever you'd like. Even got a fancy new coat waiting for you at your new home!"

He smiles, tapping his hands against the counter rhythmically. Mercenaries like payment, right? Maybe talking about the payment will help cheer up his new friend!

He could hardly see the two of them becoming close. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before sitting up, deciding that he'd had enough for one night. ]

[ He hummed and rubbed his visor. He was ready to finally see what was in store for him at his new home, now sending a silent prayer to whoever was watching that there wasnt another fine print or catch waiting for him later. ]

He hops up, laying a few dollars on the counter for the bartender. It's probably not enough, but he doesn't seem to care. He walks out of the bar, gesturing for Hyperlaser to follow.

"You ever flown in a helicopter before? I hope not, because you're not about to start now, haha! Got a nice, comfy car ride, though!"

He opens up the backseat to a... well, it's not quite a limo, but it's a nice, spacious car. They're pulling out the big guns for this one.

Probably to distract you from how hot and dusty it is in Lost Temple.

"We'll go as far as the road takes us... this car doesn't do well on sand. We- well, er, you get to go on foot from there. I've got business in Crossroads. But don't worry! We'll stay out of Wrangler territory! They won't poach you!"

He smiles at Hyperlaser. No more need for threats. No more need for coercion. He did his job and now it's time to get paid.

He turns to the bartender, ordering another of whatever Hyperlaser is drinking.

"If it makes you feel any better about the whole thing, if it wasn't you, it would've been someone else. And they wouldn't have been nearly as clean with it. It was a good shot!"

He thinks he's being helpful, lifting the mercenary up. Praising Hyperlaser's abilities like that. The ability to betray and murder cleanly. It's sickening.

I hear a lot of discussion about them whilst I fly around the factions, namely Lost Temple and Crossroads.

He takes some of the fragments from Hyperlaser, inspecting them closely. His signature smile seems even faker than usual.

"It makes this whole thing seem... confusing, you know?"

He looks Hyperlaser in the eye, frowning.

The conversation went as you'd expect. Subspace is not a very cooperative person.

It seems pretty straightforward to me. I don't see what's so confusing about it.

He drops the piece of the mask to the ground, grinding it into the pavement with his heel.

"Am I getting that right? It's pretty convincing, though, I have to say! If I didn't do my homework, I might've believed you! I just thought you'd be smarter, you know?"

He puts his hand on Hyperlaser's shoulder, giving it a few pats in mock sympathy.

"But, hey, for the sake of being fair... I'll give you a chance to convince me that I'm getting it wrong! Who knows, I could just have bad intel!"

He fixes his tie. He hates getting angry like this, he hates it! Having everyone think he's just a silly little guy is beneficial, it's good, people underestimate him. String him along until there's literally no other option than to do what he says... Either that, or hole up with the Wranglers. Or Playground. But neither of those options have a snazzy dress code like the Church! "Good! Glad to see we understand each other! Hehe, after all this is said and done, drinks are on me! I actually can't really drink or taste anything, so you can have mine too... just kinda leaks out through the holes in my neck! It's gross!" He slips right back into his facade like it never broke. He really is kinda scary, isn't he? I mean, he's a whole five inches shorter than Hyperlaser, and he's still kinda intimidating! "Anyway... I'll see you around, okay? And, and... to show there's no hard feelings over this little misunderstanding... I won't even watch you sleep tonight! What a deal!"

He pauses, tilting his head slightly, as if considering what he should say next... ah, another threat can't hurt. Really hammer in the point. "Don't mess this up."

[ The sudden turn around back to that happy and jovial persona caught him off guard, not expecting it so suddenly. It was freaky.. Its like this guy could go from one extreme to the other on command without any sort of warm up. It was unsettling, Hyperlaser had never seen anyone like it. He made a mental note to stay out of Brokers way if possible. ]

[ That visual was very grim but he brushed it off, not exactly wanting to hear about Brokers fun body tricks... He narrowed his eyes at him as he gave him all of these 'offers'. Not being watched for once and offering drinks sounded nice on paper, well the not being watched one was a blessing, but drinking with Broker was the last thing that he ever wanted to do.. Hyperlaser didn't want to get wasted and blurt out something stupid whilst Broker blabbered on for hours. It sounded like a nightmare. ]

You know, at least with Subspace, he had the decency to say his true feelings. He was rude, he was nasty, and that's all there was to him. Broker, though? He's a lot harder to read. You traded the devil you know for the devil you don't.

He smiles. For once in the entire, brief time you've known him, he genuinely smiles. He knows Hyperlaser's cornered. Hell, that was probably what he wanted the whole time. String him along until there's literally no other option than to do what he says... Either that, or hole up with the Wranglers. Or Playground.
