i love classes where the teacher doesn't force you to respect them, but you end up doing it anyways

for example my ap chem teacher would have a couple slides left when the bell rang. she never even told us to wait but i swear, every single time, not a PERSON would leave until she was done. keep in mind this lady has been teaching since the school opened and has gotten almost her students (including me) to pass their ap exam.

i remember getting late to the next period a couple times because of that though and i would tell the teacher "sorry, [teacher's name] was finishing the lesson" and they would be like "don't worry, i know she sent me an email already" and like. while we were taking notes she sent an email to our teachers. i love her.

i can only hope that i'll have a teacher like her again TTT loved that class so much

i was zoning out while listening to music and studying and guess what i came back to my senses to.

hungarian rhapsody no 2.

i was headbopping to hungarian rhapsody no 2 for a solid 3 minutes without knowing.

unpopular opinion (?) but i think it’s completely acceptable for people of all ages to practice their handwriting

at least four times this week i’ve come across people who tell me they think their handwriting is ugly and/or illegible but… who’s even stopping you from practicing and improving it

in a day and age where everything is online i do really appreciate people who write stuff by hand once in a while

and plus isn’t writing a privilege? i'm so glad i can even write in the first place so i never feel embarrassed trying to make it look readable

it also just really pisses me off when we do handwritten group assignments in class and everyone says “i couldn’t possibly write i have horrible handwriting but YOU should write all four pages because you write nicely” like broskies. i think this is perfectly reasonable to say if you’re actually trying to improve it but you’ve said the same excuse this whole semester. mines looks nice because i have actually spent time in my days trying to make it legible. having bad handwriting doesn’t give you a ticket to not contribute

some people genuinely aren’t capable of writing legibly due to legit disabilities or conditions and if you’re not one of those people, putting effort into making your writing legible should be something to focus on

hey uh what's harmonic dictation

so basically during the ap theory exam theres are two frqs where they play you a four part harmony and you have to write down the soprano and bass voices and write the chord names

a four part harmony looks like this:

there are four notes per chord, each one is for a different "voice" --- topmost is the soprano, then alto and tenor and bottommost is the bass

so they'd play an audio of a pianist playing that^^^ and you'd have a blank grand staff with the only starting chord notes

you have to figure out the notes of the soprano (top) and bass (bottom) voices from just the audio AND name the chords that are being played INCLUDING inversions AND the correct type of chord (maj, min, dim, half dim, etc)

they're not really that bad but my entire class always likes complaining whenever we practice LOL we collectively suck at them

ego so big that i think i can get a 5 on all my ap exams this year. its not an unreasonable goal though---

---realizes i haven't done a chemistry frq in two weeks, last time i reviewed world was a year ago when i took it online, can't do harmonic dictation unless its only tonic and dominants.

confidence is a skill though... i gotta be confident.....

so... today was not as good as i'd have liked it to go. at least i showed up?

my school's break is ending soon so i have a flight tomorrow to get back home from vacation. i'll be up for approximately 20 hours straight before i get to sleep again, and then i have one day to prepare for my biggest exam before the big exams coming up soon TT

while i enjoyed this vacation a lot, i really would like to not travel anywhere during the spring in upcoming years... i lost a lot of study time and will probably be performing worse because of it. it's okay though, we try our best and leave the rest!

in other news, i ended up talking to my cousins a bit today and i got new glasses! im not rly supposed to be wearing glasses since i have night contacts but i do really need them rn bc of studying. they look so cute anyways~

ah yes my pinterest decided to be cute and yellow today, so i guess that's the theme lol

its a start for sure... a slow but steady start! im a bit excited and a bit dreading of whats to come. hopefully tomorrow i can start recording the hours i studied, but today i didn't have the mental space to do that lol!

is it just me that dislikes but likes huge exams? like if i've studied well, it feels almost like a fun challenge to prove how much i know. but if i haven't studied its literally so nerve-wracking...!

35 days of (musical) productivity !!

explanation: my first set of big scary exams is coming up in 35 days... im a person who only really reaches flow state once i find the perfect song to loop while working, so im trying to record my song choices during the upcoming month.

hopefully this will make it fun for me to work 😭

this blog will basically be a (hopefully) consistent record of my interests for the upcoming days. im excited!!

sometimes when i wake up early to study for big exams i end up getting only 3-5 hours of sleep

and when i get home after my exam i'm usually a bit conflicted. like, do i take a nap or not? its like 2pm, im dead tired but also i've got other homework...

pros: not tired anymore, no more headache, able to work for the rest of the day cons: won't be able to sleep until 1am no matter how long i nap, that groggy feeling

i dunno. i'm contemplating this at 5am instead of studying rn. honestly locked out

i didn't accomplish much today, but at the same time i did? its a bit confusing.

basically, in school i had eight huge tasks which forced me to run about the entire day trying to get to them all on time---! i was also trying to remember ten other small tasks which totally took all my energy. by the time i got home, i zoned out on genshin for 4.5 hours and only just started work an hour ago in earnest TTTT

i didnt have a strict schedule for today, so im still working right now! i have to finish up some lab assignments before i go to bed because i promised myself i wouldn't procrastinate on them this chapter. ill go to bed asap and wake up 30 minutes early tomorrow to finish my annotations before class.

i think i was a lot kinder to myself today by letting myself come home and rest instead of immediately jumping to work :)

i do wish i had taken a better variety of breaks... perhaps i could've crocheted while listening to my audiobook. alas, i won't dwell on the past!

day 1/7 make or break week completed! it... was certainly something.

i definitely learned a lot! i need to space out my tasks in my schedule better and allow for more chunky blocks of worktime, not making myself constantly switch around. i accidentally made myself work for like 25 minute blocks for 5 hours straight and it messed with my attention span. i also gave myself WAYYYY too many breaks lol

i also think i need to alternate between the hard and easy tasks. my initial though process was to star doing all the easy stuff and then end with the hard stuff and in hindsight, that was a really horrible idea TTTT

so! here is what i accomplished and what i did not:

- record scales (x2) and part of cello solo for my audition ✅ - complete chemistry worksheets (x2) - complete lab paperwork ✅ - write and submit FRQ practice ✅ - rehearse speech for 20 minutes ✅ - complete graphing practice (x2) ✅ - complete annotations - send out invitation emails (x3) - create bookmarks (x45) and poster (x1) and deliver them - NEW WORK: frq 6 (half finished) - NEW WORK: design posters and print (x2) ✅ - NEW WORK: notes annotations ✅

i have an extra hour in the morning tomorrow, so im going to bed asap so i can finish the work i left behind today!! i haven't given up (even if i failed a bit) so im hoping i can lock in
