As someone who risks my "life" often in the pursuit of keeping Demigods safe within the Aether, I do consider often whether or not it might be better for a Demigod to stay unaware of the world beyond the physical. On one hand, the limitations of the physical world to those who are cursed (or blessed) with the divine ichor flowing in their veins rather than blood can be truly stifling; on the other, is it not bad to make others aware of their divinity, knowing the fate that will befall them due to it? The fate of Gods and Demigods is a complicated subject. Then again, if they discovered it on their own, they would certainly be in far worse danger than if they were in a group of those who had brought their divine lineage to light.

I am very happy to hear that it's helped you (even if only a small amount); it is always a gift to help others along on their journey of self-discovery, and I was actually mildly inspired by your (and Alyss, Head of Cabin 2) posts on the subject explaining Demigods. I realized there was a pretty sizable chunk missing out of the general explanations floating around and thought I'd help fill in the gaps! It's rather impressive to see how much the community alone has gathered considering most of the Demigods I've seen around tend to be very newly awakened to their divine lineage. Anyway I'm rambling but I'm very glad it could help you in some way as you discover more about your lineage and the various paths divinity takes to settle in mortal bodies

General Advice Post for New Demigods

(Note: I am not an expert, this is mainly compiled from other people/epiphanies)

I’ve seen lots of people in the demigod community making posts about the upcoming war, so I just wanted to make a general one! This is a General Advice Post for Newbies (TM).

0. what is a demigod??

A demigod is a half-god, half-human, formed by an energy collision between a god and a human. When the human meets another human, the child born from the event will be a demigod. Unlike PJO, this is a purely energetic process.

Not all demigods are dyslexic, and not all of them can effortlessly see through the mist. Not all of us can speak Greek , Latin or the other language of your pantheon.

Effort Even if you might not be in this prophecy (like myself) PLEASE DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU FROM PUTTING IN THE WORK. Do not think that excuses you from it either!

Don’t take a backseat to the action because you think you won’t be featured. Every little effort helps.

For those of us who do have a vital part to play, good luck.

2..the mortals

MORTALS. I have no idea what they’ll be seeing, but keep them in mind. Your patience might be short with them on some stressful days, but please remember they (well, generally) have NO IDEA what is going on.

3.. the gods

listen to what your divine parent is telling you! Epiphanies and visions are all valid! Please remember it’s okay to not agree with every decision made. Please also know in most cases, your godly parent will appreciate your asking for advice and will generally be helpful!

4.. self-defence

PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT AND FIGHT MONSTERS UNLESS:

you are with a group

you are with a god

you are on a quest with a group

you are with someone powerful.

Do not fight them alone! If you run into one, run away and hope it ignores you. If it notices you, distract it and run! celestial bronze /stygian iron exists, but it will not make you safer. Refer to below.

do not be afraid to ask for help. Gods, nymphs, Hunters of Artemis, anyone.

5.. monsters

monsters come in all shapes, sizes, and disguises. You’ll know it’s a monster if it looks like a fantasy creature, uncanny, or if it flickers slightly. If you get a bad vibe from an area, better to avoid it and be safe. don’t fight monsters. See above.

6. Camp

Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter exist. If you’re not a Greek or Roman demigod, I’m sure there are other places that serve the same function.

Camp exists astrally and physically. I’ve never been, but I will probably try to go soon before the war. I recommend going!

FAQ

How do I know who my godly parent is?

I don’t recommend forcing an answer, but if you are desperate, divination or just calling on them works

Is Percy Jackson real?

yes! It’s based on a real demigods story. The show is rather inaccurate, so I recommend reading the books.

Can you be a magical hero and a demigod?

yes! Actually quite few of us are magical heroes. Myself included.

can you have more than one godly parent?

rare, but yes.

Can I be more powerful than my godly parent?

I’m pretty sure in most cases the answer to this is no.

❝ DIVINE LINEAGE。

An elaboration upon the currently understood "rulebook" of the Aether in our blood. As others have mentioned, yes, one can have multiple Godly parents that come to help form a single Demigod. I will not touch on that too much here (as it is pretty easily understood; it's not like they're limited by mortal reproductive standards). But I do want to touch on some things I have not seen discussed: children of Monsters, what the children of Demigods are, and children of Heroes.

ⅰ。An Introduction to "Other" types of Divine Lineage ┈ ⌗ 🗯

⋆.˚ ❝ Some of you may see a mortal you know, or perhaps even be a mortal, who seems to be clearly a Demigod... or are they? Perhaps there is just something slightly off about them. Do they seem to walk the path of both mortal and Demigod? Do they not quite fit your complete understanding of what Demigods are? Hopefully this post can grant further information and options for one discovering themself. There are a few options not discussed often: ┈ They are a mortal with advanced abilities ┈ They are a child of a Monster rather than a God ┈ They are not 50/50 Divine; they have a less even split ┈ They are born of a Hero / Mythological Figure

ⅱ。⋆.˚ ❝ Of Monsters and Men

Monsters are a concept that all of us are aware of; the beasts that hunt Demigods, the creatures of myth slain by our predecessors. They are "evil". They are wicked. They are... more nuanced than the simple idea of "Us vs Them" can ever possibly articulate. ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ ┈ ⊹ ₊ ⌗ ⋆˙⟡ Not all monsters or beasts are those that are attempting to harm or against Demigods in particular; Cerberus or the Ismenian Dragon are both good examples of this. When I speak of those of us born of creatures and beasts, I do not simply mean these monsters, but the "bad" ones who hunt us, too. ˎˊ˗ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ Monsters, just like Gods, are Divine. They are born of the Gods (in a similar manner as Demigods sometimes; other times, born of excess, of the rot that escapes a deity when it does not serve them and their purpose any longer). Sometimes they procreate and create more monsters; however, I have met many mortal-bodied folk with part of their souls made of monsters, too (again, in a similar manner to Demigods; it is a difficult concept to put into easily digestable words). The monster-blooded are not inherently evil or good (as no individual is solely one or the other); some may side with their beastly parent, some may reject them entirely, for better or for worse. Other such "monster" lineages may include the Satyrs, Nymphs of all kinds, Sirens, Centaurs, Harpies, etc. ⌗ 🗯 。 ‿‿ ‿‿ Signs one may be Monster-Blooded: ┈ You find more connection to animals and beasts rather than people ┈ You find yourself sympathizing with monsters / beasts in stories of their slaying ┈ You feel more called to the creatures of myths over the Gods ┈ You have enhanced clairsenses ┈ You struggle with the "Demigod" aspects that are unrelated to beasts (such as divination) ┈ You act animalistic and are governed by instinct over sense more often than not ...Amongst other things.

ⅲ。Of Divine Lineage ‿ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆

⋆.˚ ❝ The second topic I would like to touch on is that of the kin of Demigods (which will have overlap with the topic below of heroes too but shhhhh be patient). ┈ ⊹ ₊ Godly parentage, just like mortal parentage, is nuanced. If a God plants a part of their energy/soul/entity into a mortal, they create a Demigod of a 50/50 split; half mortal, half God. But what of those that come after? Odysseus, for example, is a Demigod; and yet, he is only 1/8th related to the God Hermes! Demigods of the now work the same; when a God places their divine power into a mortal vessel to be born, that vessel is of course shackled by the physical. Children a Demigod has will have lesser and lesser percentage of divinity in their blood; but they are still Demigods. ˎˊ˗ ‿‿ It is difficult to tell what is a sign of this, if you are not related to any major Heroes within the known mythology of the pantheon you are called to. It can show itself in many ways: ┈ You feel like the Gods do not listen to you / that you struggle to feel heard by them ┈ You have immense trouble with divination, but immense magickal ability (or any other combination of being very, very bad at one thing, but exceeding at another) ┈ You feel a need to prove yourself as divine to earn your space as opposed to a simple confident connection to the divine ⌗ 🗯 。 ‿‿ ₊⊹ ♄ This one is a difficult one; because, not only can you be 1/2 or 1/8th divine from one God, but this can stack. For example, as a Son of Ares, I was half and half (before my "ascension" but that is a topic for a later day); however, in that, let's say my mother was 1/4th related to Hades; that, then, would (theoretically) make me 5/8ths divine. You can see then how the waters can be easily muddled. One does not need to know their exact percentage, however it is important to mention that there are very real connections you may have to deities without it being a direct parent.

ⅳ。Of Heroes and Mythological Figures ⋆.˚ ♃

♇ˎˊ˗ And on such a difficult subject, we get even muddier: what of those who are related to divine figures that are not widely seen as Gods or Demigods, such as Tiresias? Drawing the line between figures who are or are not divine is difficult. What of my namesake Caeneus? He was, himself, gifted manhood and impenetrability by Poseidon; and yet, he holds no divine lineage himself. Each hero and mythological figure will have different signs and different connections, and to generalize with signs is difficult. Hero worship is a large aspect for those who may be seeking out knowledge of a connection to any Heroes; similar to how one would modernly worship the Gods. Divinity is fluid, after all; it is not so simple as who is mortal and who is not. ⋆.˚ ♃ ‿‿ Some signs you may hold connection to a hero or mythological figure: ┈ Read the above list about signs of limited Divine connection; all are still relevant ┈ You feel no connection to Gods, but deep connection to Demigods ┈ You feel as if you have excessive abilities compared to other mortals ┈ You feel like you are called to serve or prove yourself in some manner to both the Gods and other divine beings (Demigods, monsters, monster-blooded, etc)

Hopefully this has given all of you a deeper understanding of the vastness of the connections one may have to the Aether/Abyss/Astral and the divine. Not every single person will resonate with every sign of one thing they may be; they may experience different things they consider to be signs, and I would be greatly interested in hearing them, to make an expansive list of things for others to look at when soulsearching. ❝ I move unseen by monsters and beasts。

One of the many methods I use for warding are various types of sigilwork, as it is a simple and effective magickal barrier that can be done to oneself or another and gone unseen。This in particular is one I have worked; and while the intention is clear, what is less clear is the time spent testing and ensuring it is functional and works at peak performance。I find I most prefer rectangular sigils, as the shape works to ground it in stability; the harsh lines and jagged edges are protective, meant to be rigid and strict, to keep my intention together with no room to be misconstrued。This particular sigil works best in blue, black, or gray, if one wishes to indulge in color magik to strengthen the foundation。Every line within a sigil, every moment of magick, is inof itself a tool to be used。

There are many symbols hidden within it, from runes, to Greek letters, to astrological and alchemical symbols。To go into each would be excessive; instead it is better to simply know that every line holds meaning。Some of the symbols themselves are intended to be hidden well enough that they would not be found even when searching for them, with plausible deniability of whether they were truly intended; which is intentional, as the sigil is imbued, meant to hide the wearer from perception, to trick beasts as seeing them as a simple part of the Aether to be overlooked rather than prey。⋆.˚ ♃

₊⊹ ♄ For those who wish to utilize my work; feel free to。I recommend most effectively to draw the sigil on a rectangular piece of paper and put it into your clothing, or draw it onto the inside of a piece of clothing。It could also be stitched or embroidered。It is a permanent sigil to be worn, not to be destroyed; ensure it is recharged monthly or as needed。

Today is a day of nurture, and the strength within a recoup.

The Empress is related to Queenly Hera of Olympus, Beautiful Aphrodite of Love and War, and the Titaness Rhea who birthed many of the Blessed Gods, the Norse Goddess Freyja who taught the art of seiðr to Odin, the Roman Goddess Venus of beauty and fertility, and finally of the Roman Goddess Juno of marriage and union. ₊⊹ ♄

⌗ 🗯 。 ‿‿

Perhaps, then, one can come to their own conclusions of how the powerful Goddesses of Unions, Love, and Maternity can grant us guidance into the day to come. The Empress and the associated Goddesses tell us that today is a day to be seized, not with a heavy hand, but with a gentle one. Children of the above Goddesses may feel a pull towards nurturing and caring for those around them, the deep strength within them culminating in an overwhelming feeling of needing to socialize and bond. Demigods of various kin may similarly feel the need to tap into the powerful but nurturing air of these Goddesses, to surround themselves in groups and be kind to themselves and others today. Strength, today, is not measured in the sheer physicality of it; it is in numbers, in the unions one forms. A Demigod alone cannot shake the Earth, but ten could.

The Empress tells us that today is a day of staying strong, but kind. Open your heart to those around you and look at them, notice their own unique strengths and encourage them to embrace them; but stay grounded, and do not act cruelly by saying what one wants to hear rather than what is truthful.

What else might happen today? The Empress tells us that we will need the beautiful duality of nurture and strength, as she wields both. While others may be cruel, or hardship may befall us, all will be well as long as we keep our wits and recognize that strength is not in making others feel small, but making them feel strong alongside you.
