Morphine - Reduces the amount of pain signals reaching the brain, but not via the peripheral nervous system, as described. It does not block pain transmission from the affected site, it blocks pain reception in the brain and spinal cord itself. OP’s text is referring to local anaesthesia such as Lidocaine, which does actually block signal transmission in the nerves.

Anaesthetics - It is clearly known how local anaesthetics work, they stabilise nerve cell membranes via sodium inhibition, creating a nerve block, but you’re right about general anaesthesia being up for debate, lipid theory is a mess.
