Alice In Wonderland Cake on Flickr
as amazing as this is, it probably tasted nasty. awesomely designed cakes tend to do that.
I guess it depends on what flavors you like. The cake was madeira cake with raspberry jam and buttercream filling. It was covered in sugarpaste (fondant). The little girl it was made for is English and grew up eating special occasion cakes covered in fondant (as opposed to the American preference for using buttercream as a covering in "standard" birthday cakes). She thought it was delicious! For my American friends and family, though, I usually use marshmallow fondant instead which Americans seem to prefer the taste of to traditional fondant. Cakes can look good and taste good as long as you take the personal taste of the recipient into consideration, which I always do :)
