Something New

So I usually wear my 3c/4a hair in some kind of curly fro style. But truth be told....sometimes I get so bored. Lol. I had been toying with the idea of box braids for a few weeks, then just decided to do it. So here they are, two tedious days were spent on this labor of love...and I'm very pleased. The plan is to keep them for 2 weeks. But we'll see if these babies don't stick around a little longer :)

Tamara's Beautiful Tight Coils!

Tamara's hair pattern is mostly 4b, with the crown area being 4c. She has been natural for quite a few years (no relaxers and no direct heat) but has been wearing half wigs, weaves and other hair pieces. Now Ms. Tamara is ready to rock her natural curls on a daily basis.

The two products used to style Tamara's hair are Stretch It leave in conditioner and the Simply Heavy Gelly.  When used in conjunction, these products achieve three things:

Moisture - Both items are packed with ingredients that concentrate on delivering moisture straight to the hair's cortical layer. Ingredients such as Yerba Santa Glycoprotein, Caviar Extract and Rice Protein penetrate the hair's shaft and moisturize from within. 

Seal - We use Kukui Nut and Babassu Oils due to the fact that these oils can penetrate the hair shaft, in addition to sealing critical nutrients into the hair. Mango Butter, Palm and Castor Oils benefit the hair and scalp without making hair too oily or greasy.

Define - Type 4 hair is known for shrinking and being very dry. The combination of oils and butters in Stretch It and Simply Heavy Gelly moisturize hair from within and add weight to the hair to maximize curl definition and minimize shrinkage. 

Tamara's hair will last about 5 - 7 days. Her curls are defined, moisturized, stretched and did we mention, defined? : )  We used the "Rake & Smooth" method when applying products to her hair. Half of great hair styling depends on the technique(s) used when applying products and the method used to style hair. Having taught Tamara to "Rake & Smooth" she should easily be able to duplicate this style on her own.
