עוד יום עצוב לדמוקרטיה הישראלית
שזה גם, במילים אחרות, יום רגיל
I’m was watching a video about a Jewish custom, and the entire comment section was like this
It’s about anti Zionism my ass.
This is the case whenever a post has Hebrew/ Jewish symbols/ etc. it’s obviously not about Israel.
It’s been a while and this just happened again so here are the comments under a video about traditional clothing for orthodox Jewish men
Dozens of hateful antisemitic comments & so many “free Palestine”
Is this antisemitism? Yes.
But these people don't think they're being antisemitic, they think they're arguing for a group of people being oppressed by an apartheid regime, which they are. The main issue at play is that the genocide in Gaza fosters antisemitism in people who are not antisemitic, because Zionists are belligerently intent on inextricably tying Israel to Judaism.
When the Zionist propaganda says Jews = Israel, and the news shows us that Israel = genocide, people will inevitably think Jews = genocide.
The only way to fix this is to stop the genocide and teach people not to conflate the Jewish faith with the actions of the Israeli government.
I love how it's always the fault of those darn Zionists who are tricking the hapless masses into being antisemitic, so those same people never have to take respinbility for their own bigotry
I love how even in your mealy-mouthed lukewarm defense of Jews you can't conceive that the people accusing random Jews of killing children aren't actually trying to innocently criticize Israel, and they're not only being antisemitic by accident
newsflash, dumbfuck, the people who come onto a post about Jewish customs and ask them how many babies they've killed don't "think they're arguing for a group of people being oppressed by an apartheid regime." they think they're attacking Jews whom they view as responsible for Israel's actions, not because of "Zionist propaganda" but because they're racist assholes who are looking for simple explanations to the world's problems. same as always
Bigots always have a story about how they're in the right and their hatred is good and just and righteous. That's...part of the bigotry, in fact.
The fact that this person could say the sentence "fostered antisemitism in people who are not antisemitic" and still think that any of what they're saying makes sense is astonishing.
Psst.
It's because that person agrees and is making excuses.
it's because the people who say this kind of bullshit think that antisemitism is okay so long as it is directed at the "right kind" of Jew. So many people do this shit- say that they don't hate Jews, but they're happily spewing the most antisemitic bullshit you've ever seen, but it's FINE because it's not directed at Jews, it's directed at Zionists!
Exactly!!! Just because you replace the word “ Jews” with another word , doesn’t make it less antisemitic . Also, they’re always misinterpreting/ misusing “Zionist”.
Ps can I use the meme as a reaction here?
Everything before the "But" is invalidated by the paragraphs of justification after the "but" While the October 7 attacks were ongoing, governments and police around the world rallied to protect Jews and Jewish sites. Because they knew those attacks would spur more in the diaspora. And they were right. People celebrated it and targeted Jews. And people like this poster help them justify celebrating it and hating Jews by lying and excusing it. You don't need to rebut the rest of their morally and intellectually weak argument. You just need to see they "Yes, but" and watch them strip humanity away from Jews and agency away from non-jews because all things are justified for the Fandom-Cult omnicause running on decayed Nazi/Tsarist/Soviet software. Jews don't cause antisemitism. Israelis don't cause antisemitism. Losers like this person cause antisemitism because it's a loser ideology that lets you blame the same people you and your parents and grandparents always did, do no work on yourself, and never take meaningful responsibility for your failures to be a moral human being. This person will not form a human chain around a synagogue unless it is to harass or burn it, they will not shut their friends down when they spew conspiracist bullshit that makes Jews less safe. They will simply blame "the Bad Jews" and do nothing while patting themselves on the back and hoping that the panopticon-fandom they enable never comes for them.
We didn't allow 'economic anxiety' or 'those mean woke leftists calling us a nazi so I'll just be one' be excuses for the right wing's racism, why the FUCK is it somehow acceptable to be an antisemite on the left 'because Israel'?!
(I know why. I know why and I'm fucking pissed off at the entirety of the left wing rocketing straight into this bullshit when it would be clearly and obviously wrong. We should've been better than this.)
@againstpuns You could have just said "is this antisemitism? Yes" and then stopped there. The only people to blame for antisemitism are antisemites - people who actively choose, of their own free will, to engage in one of the oldest bigotries in the world because they can and because they want to and because it's fashionable. Stop making excuses for them.
ill be real with u guys i really dont think theres a way to be antizionist without being an antisemite. it requires erasure of jewish history and culture
Much of the left appears to have forgotten that "national origin" is a protected class
quarterly reminder that if i reblog something ai-generated it is 110% and always an accident and for the love of god please tell me so i can delete it from my blog
I actually lost one really nice follower because of this and I’m still sad.
I'm revoking your bagel privileges
“Antizionism isn’t antisemitism” might be slightly easier to believe if the self proclaimed “antizionists” didn’t spend most of their time abusing and insulting people hideously for the crime of existing while Jewish.
So, how are we doing, #jumblr?
Okay, fair enough, not great I guess
🍀 it’s a lucky max! reblog for max luck 🍀
non-Jews shut the fuck up challenge
something that i think a lot of non-jews (and some jews) don’t realize about the word goy is that it’s a neutral word. And like many neutral words, it *can* be used in a negative way. Someone can say the word ‘Japanese’ in a derogatory way, but that doesn’t mean every time you hear someone say it, they’re being insulting
I saw a screenshot or maybe an ask, I don't remember, where someone said 'don't call me the g-slur' and it took me ages to realize they meant goy.
what a privilege it is to come home to a little animal that loves you like you're their whole world.
antisemitism is such a lowlife bigotry it’s so popular with losers who will never be successful and resent people who are. and bc it’s so rooted in this jealousy and resentment, the more happy, successful, and competent a jew is, the MORE they become a target of this bigotry and reinforce idiots’ antisemitic beliefs. it functions very similarly to anti-asian racism in this way actually.
this fetish stuff is getting out of hand what the fuck is word play
Currently reading Jerusalem: A Biography by Simon Sebag Montefiore. Excellent book, btw, I highly recommend it.
Once again I am bowled over by the widely accepted narrative that Jews are colonisers and Israel has no historical right to the land in the Levant and the Arab Muslims are, in fact, the indigenous people, when even the slightest understanding of history on the most elemental, basic level shows that narrative as patently ludicrous.
I can only conclude that people pushing this narrative either has a problem with decolonisation and land back as a concept, or with Jews, specifically.
