A companion portrait to the previous one!
This time featuring Investigator Vincent.
Lord Sinclair Baskerville
One of the commissioned portraits from a matching pair I’m working on right now. Meet the charming Lord Sinclair!
Also made a speedpaint for this piece, the full process took about 5h 40m.
Beautiful spy fox Aylin in her office х)
One of my recent bigger commissions. Had a lot of fun working on the details
⚜️ Pharisel ⊰ ⊹ ─
very sweet horse design for @tschlv <3
I’m really happy Pharisel finally has a proper reference now thanks to @misssyntsia ♡
Here are some drawings from his older version for comparison!
im sure you’ve been asked but would you ever share what brushes you use?? thank you so much!!
I get asked this a lot :D I can’t really name all the brushes, since I’ve tried so many over time and don’t remember everything. But Rutkowski’s brushes are definitely some of the best in my opinion, both free and paid.
I’ve also tried brushes from Raja Nandepu, Darek Zabrocki, and Michael Adamidis.
But overall I wouldn’t recommend focusing too much on specific brushes. Pretty much any combination of a hard textured brush plus an airbrush works. I actually painted like that for a long time in SAI2.
Most of the time, I use different brushes depending on the piece
Kairus
A commissioned portrait of the elegant Kairus. I love Dobermans… and I love autumn too, so it was really fun to work on this х)
Crimson and Emerald
I was asked to design the clothing for this commission myself, and I even ended up making two versions х)
Summer is coming
Sketch of my character Bezay!
Saw a reference while scrolling my feed and instantly wanted to redraw it. Feels like spring already, but I’m in the mood for summer, hehe
Time for a quick meal
Brushstroke Practice #2
Hi! How'd you learn to paint like this??? Got any tutorials or classes you'd recommend?
I’m still figuring things out!
I started exploring this technique around late 2024. I don’t really have specific tutorials or classes to recommend beyond the fundamentals (color, lighting, and so on), since most of what I’ve learned came from practice and observation.
From what I’ve seen, this is one of the simplest and clearest tutorials for understanding the technique
Doing master studies from paintings and photos helped a lot. What really matters is consistent, intentional practice. I don’t have a formal academic background either, so it really shows that it’s all achievable :)
Some brushstroke practice
Savva the Witch Huntress
Fanart reference with my character to the game Witchfire!
One of my favorite games recently. As a dragon huntress in my story, fighting a witch’s familiars suits her perfectly х)
And what do we have today? It’s PortfolioDay!!
I’m Toki (TSCHLV). I love oil painting aesthetics and animals <3
Roofus
A commissioned portrait of a scruffy, fluffy guy, and I really love his design
hi! :D your art is beautiful, and I wanted to ask, is it traditional or digital? (and if digital, what program do you use?)
Hi! And thank you!
My artwork is fully digital х)
Over the years I’ve tried many programs, and I can confidently say that you can achieve an oil-paint feel in most of them, as it’s more about technique and workflow than the brushes or built-in textures.
Right now I’m drawing in Photoshop, having switched from SAI 2
