there is something painfully ironic about the current circumstances hyunmi has found himself in, though of course he doesn't sense that irony. he doesn't particularly fancy being in highly populated establishments (it's amazing how he even survived the hotel he was staying at prior to attending college), and yet here he is, enrolled in a program that throws one directly in the middle of hundreds and hundreds of people, who all live in the same place. who are all expected to mingle among each other. there is not a moment that he leaves his dorm in which at least one other person is not found roaming down the halls, and there is also not a day that passes in which he doesn't hear someone yelling across the building outside the isolated comfort of his own room. he is still not completely accustomed to the chaotic lifestyle of a university student, but he gets by. somehow. by spending 99.99% of his free time locked in his room.
one would think hyunmi is actually a unicorn in disguise with how little his existence is actually witnessed.
right now, he is perched atop the bed with a laptop next to him, watching pointless videos of youtube comedians who talk about things that aren't even really that funny in hyunmi's opinion. the only reason he's even watching is because he overheard someone talking about it in passing and, despite being the poster child for introverted, he is also ridiculously curious by nature. the previous hour was more productive, when articles about amnesia were what filled the tabs of his browser, but he can only read so much about it until he starts to feel frustrated.
the video, that he decides will be the last one, ends just as there's a knock on the door, and that heavy, dark, gloomy feeling sinks into his bones and he can physically feel it because why does someone want to talk to me, and for a few seconds he hesitates.
but then, wait, it could be her, and he doesn't want to ignore her, so he shuts the lid of his computer and moves off the bed, goes to open the door.
