Oh my God, where do I begin!?
Honestly @gooseworx I commend you for your story writing, because you have shocked me in ways I didn’t imagine. TADC was so UNPREDICTABLE in a GREAT way. It wasn’t cliche, it didn’t have a predictable plot or predictable characters - the ending was so beautiful I cried THREE TIMES!
First let’s talk about Jax - his trauma with his father and his mother was so well done. It made so much sense especially with what happened between him and his mother, the reason as to why he HATED or felt SO uncomfortable when the girls were around and he interacted with them so much more differently than Kinger and sometimes Zooble. The way it just clicks and just makes you say: “Ooohh! So THAT is why!”
He wanted to be masculine because he looked up to his father, and whatever he told his mother, she made it worse for him and therefore solidified that trauma. HENCE the girlish room. Jax maybe wasn’t as manly as his dad and he didn’t need to be, but he might have felt he HAD to be to have a sense of connection?
While I’m not against the transgender approach (again, NOT against it, do not have the wrong idea lol), I’m glad that wasn’t going to be the case because as I said - it was too PREDICTABLE! Male character has a pink girly room and makes fun of girls? IMMEDIATELY A WOMAN! Come on guys add some pizzazz to it. Maybe it’s more than that! Maybe it’s that AND more! The way Goose instead decided to show us that Jax was just so wounded in his masculinity and that he hated how he thought he was a disappointment to his father and how his mother threw things in his face and then confused him by trying to comfort him so it created this hate or fear towards the female gender? GOLD!!!! Gold I tell you, GOLD!
Of course the transgender approach is still open as nothing is explicitly denied nor stated, but that’s one of the things I adore about how Goose wrote TADC, it’s necessarily open to interpretation! Jax COULD be transgender, or he could have just been a lost little boy seeking approval from the only masculine figure in his life, and that he thought about it so hard that it was something he aimed to SHOW everyone in the circus. And how his mother emotionally damaged him due to him opening up to her and her weaponising his trauma and then trying to be NICE after it? Spectacular! Whatever you guys find more heart throbbing!
Then his multiple POV’s as well, was also great lol! I do think he probably had a crush on Ribbit AND Gangle with that one memory of him and Gangle lol. I saw it and I assume it was his POV of things and his many thoughts and that clip between them was GREAT! And his relationship between him and Ribbit was also sweet - they got along so well and she listened to him and was there for him and was just the person he needed to complete him! And then that snippet of bunnydoll?
“And I’d probably forget about you..”
Yeah right Jax, the way you caressed Ragathas door showed OTHERWISE?
But god.. the spiral.. the reason Ribbit abstracted being Jax is so BITTER but so realistic because what else would have happened? Like after he opened up to her he was petrified that she might pull HIS MOTHER and tell others or use it against him and he went out of his way to avoid and ignore Ribbit when he could while Ribbit was desperate to get their friendship back. Then when he went to Kuafmo and deliberately tried to turn him against her too by calling her a liar IF she tried to approach him about what was happening. Ribbit tried to scratch down his walls and almost succeeded. But his walls were too high and equipped with galvanised steel, he was not BUDGING? He was so SCARED to find out venting had worked and that he thought it was going to go WRONG like it did with his mother? Then after Ribbit abstracted and how he just became A NASTY BASTARD to those around him - sometimes the silly cheeky Jax or just a plain asshole? Gosh - it makes sense but it was so infuriating but so SAD!
Then we have his and Pomnis moment: and honestly I can see why Jax abstracts. He has FAR too much guilt, for being the reason Ribbit AND ARGUABLY KUAFMO abstracts. He knows he drove them away when they needed to stick together in the circus yet he did the opposite and went out of his way to terrorise them with his distance and crude behavior.
The way he finally allows Pomni to hug him and he hugs her back is just such a beautiful scene and it made me tear up because his walls were finally falling, but the consequences that waited outside them were pouring in. But Pomni was there for him and held him tight, even when he began to abstract was so EMOTIONALLY GRIPPING IT WAS KILLING ME?
Caine my beautiful amazing showstopping spectacular beautiful RINGMASTER?! The way he LEARNT ABOUT them and their lives, the way he RAN to the exit door when he had been floating throughout the entire series, the way he became almost HUMAN when he sought to learn about the humans in HIS circus. The way he learnt about them all and slowly he began to realise that he was so different from them, their world was far more large, vast and complex than his, the way he knew he did wrong!
But ABEL - It was ABEL, from what I could gather: Abel was the bad thoughts in his head, whenever he began to argue with himself, the blue eye was in focus, and when he reached inside himself and decided to get rid of it, the BLUE orb was discarded?? AND BUBBLE KINDA MAKES ME THINK THAT TOO, Bubble not being reasonable and giving Caine reasons to be MORE mad at them - so it being Abel and NOT CAINE? ANOTHER UNPREDICTABLE MOMENT?
Sure, Abel was PERFECT and BETTER than Caine, but they were unreasonable and hateful while Caine was willing to be open minded and reason?
And the ending.. when Caine returns and they finally accept him. And how he tells them he wants to show them something. And the MONTAGE OF THEIR REAL LIVES? Who they were individually, the things they did, the good they were involved in, THE LIVES THEY ACTUALLY SHARED? (makes sense as C&A may have been a company in the same area)? IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! THE SOUNDTRACK AND THE IMAGES AND THE REALNESS MADE MY HEART THRRROOBBBB? I WAS CRYING? SNIFFLING? CHOKING? BEAUTIFUL I TELL YOU!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! I can’t even touch up on everything in the movie it’s SO hard to put it into words so I’m just talking about the things I found AMAZINNNGGGG? And honestly the change from Caine giving them new names in the beginning in his arrogance and ignorance, then calling them by their TRUE names in the ending? SOBBINGGGGGG
God and the montage where Caine was involved with them, his personality still the same but he was with them and he was apart of them and he was treated like a friend? THAT WAS WHAT HE NEEDED! They needed to be happy and relaxed and so did HE!!!!! God I can’t wait for it to come out officially so I can watch it with the actual voice actors I need to see it! I know their voices knocked it out of the park and I can’t wait to cry again!
Peiple are saying the ending was bad need to wash their eyeballs, clear out the lint in their ears and watch it with an open mind. It was the PERFECT ENDING. I would not have it any other way. As I keep saying, it was UNPREDICTABLE in a GREAT WAY. If you wanna argue otherwise, argue with the hand losers 🖐️
And the animation was so perfect, how the characters hugged and it looked so human. The hands moving, the expressions, the tears, the sniffling? How they smiled and how they cried? How Jax looks at “us” and you get that feeling of dread Pomni definitely felt? AAAMMMAAZINNGGGG!!!!!!!! I aspire to be an animator like that! To capture so much in such a cartoony atmosphere? PLEASE GOD
While Goose now probably HATES this damn dramatic ass fandom, I’m so glad she made this series because it was such a beautiful breath of fresh air and she did a GREAT job at making such an enjoyable cartoon. It did get too big for her to handle as she mentioned, but honestly Goose if you ever see this I hope you’re proud of yourself because that is the best piece of media I have seen in years and I hope people actually focus on the great of it than going gaga over which ship who or what. Please guys, ships are cool and all and yeah I did dabble in it within this post - but this fandom shouldn’t be all about ships. Let’s all talk more about the show as a whole! How great it’s written, the animation, the voice acting (eventually when it comes out), the OST, the plot, the lore, the relationships, the twists, the characters, the thought behind it, the hints, the foreshadowing, the carefully placed moments and dialogue-EVERYTHING!! Please give it a good send off, it needs to be properly spoken about - not just FUNNYBUNNY WINS or YEAHHHH RIBBITRABBIT or DOOMED (Insert ship). I think Goose deserves it because this fandom is a fucking tip. Not all the fandom, but honestly? Most of it.
While this could have waited for when the Finale released- I could not help myself and I was eager. With how good it was, I wish I could have stopped myself and watched it on the big screen instead because I know it would have been so much more surreal and exciting but honestly I didn’t and either way I still will probably go watch it in cinema and on YT.
Thank you, Gooseworx, for such a spectacular story. I hope you’re proud of yourself :D you should be! You created an amazing series and to be honest, the best Indie series I have ever seen and heard of. I’ll be watching it over and over again, it’s something I don’t think I can let go yet.
