Reflections Before The Christmas Tree
Currently listening to: Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman
I put up my Christmas tree and decorations today while listening to Vince Gauraldi and the Motown Christmas album. A year without Vince or Detroit classics would be made void in my opinion. The highlight of this year's set-up for me is my Champagne tree (looks like a money tree, ya bish). The tree is my first in 18 years and the first I've actually purchased. I've never been big on them, but my god brother is living with me while he is kicked out of the dorms over break. The least I could do was give him a little bit of the season ( although, technically he is getting free food, room and board, cable...shewt let me stop) Nevertheless, with the putting up of decorations the Christmas spirit is finally coming upon me. I have yet to go shopping for myself or others for that matter (and if I can't order anything online this year, it's probably not happening). I am, however, in a giving and reflecting mood.
Outside of the monetary things, I feel good going into the holiday season this year. I happy with where I am currently. Career wise things are looking promising. I'm back to furthering my education (in a way where as I won't accrue pointless debt). I feel like I'm living life on purpose, or with a purpose, that is. That makes this time of year where one can reflect all the more gratifying.
It's amazing looking at the growth. I know most years I'm so engulfed in measuring myself to other peoples lives via Facebook and the like. But this year I'm in a place where I could care less because I'm busy directing my own path (through Christ, of course). And the best thing is, I don't have anxiety about "what's next". Relationships, jobs, school...I'm in a place where I can honestly move forward and adjust to whatever comes. Because I realize I've been blessed with that ability.
Good stuff, indeed...ya bish!

Right now I’m supposed to be studying for a final that I have at 8am. It is 11:00 and if I don’t have everything in my brain right now, realistically I won’t have it by the morning. So…I blog and eat my awesome study break snack.* (Don’t hate)
Why am I here? I have to re-up this tumblr account for professional reasons. With that said, I suppose quite a few updates are in store, no? (how obnoxious is that? I’m not french.)
Let’s see, I’ve been back at Spelman this semester, working at a local non-profit on their L’Oreal Paris account, traveling, reconnecting, running, networking, dating (in moderation) and living. There will be more posts to go in depth on these things in the next few weeks. There are stories, get your tea ready. #pinkiesup
But for now, I’d like to present my current and most ____ situation of the moment: I’m leaving Spelman…again.
I’m 27, single and paying for school without the help of mommy and daddy this go ‘round. Debt to Income ratios are real and if I stay at Spelman, the only thing that will be keeping me warm at night will be my degree…and maybe a sugar daddy if I found one (UGH). Money was the main reason that motivated me to leave the school. Other factors included that fact that I am 27. When I first came to the school at 17 it was a great choice for a young black women trying to find out who I was, buuuuuuuut I know who I am at this age. I’ve traveled. I’ve experienced life. I know my potential. There is nothing left to tap into at that institution besides a grand amount of debt.
So what’s next? Two options:
Transfer to GA Tech (which includes me going to GA Perimeter -community college for a year and a HALF)
Bump all that and head to portfolio school a Creative Circus. (The non-creatives in my family and circle are not too happy about this one, oh well)
Personally, I favor the latter of the two as I save over two years worth of funds for college and get my leg up for my career goal in creative advertising.
I went for Creative Circus’ open house last weekend and fell in love. But I have a few coffees and meetings in store with some industry heads and leaders in town to get their take this week. I need clarity. I’m not fearful as to what may be in store….I just want to make sure I don’t waste money. #MeeshTheMiser

I don't trust too many musicians. When I say "trust" in reference to music I'm speaking of the ability to sit in the audience, close your eyes and know that you will be moved to tears, filled with laughter, rushed into excitement and given goosebumps. Wynton Marsalis is a musician I trust to do just that. Original arrangements plus covers from Mingus, Monk, Brubeck and more! I always leave on cloud 9. #thatsmyuncle #notreallybuticanwish #wyntonmarsalis #jazzatlincolncenterorchestra (at Atlanta Symphony Hall)
Met Taylor. His first time in Atlanta. Super sweet. Killed it. Body Rolls. I got my life. Give the drummer some. Brain feeder has some amazing artist. stonesthrow who? I might have a crush on him.
