Be humble like the turtle, and live a long time. The future is counting on you, to harvest the peace of today.
You can boil tap water to help purify it. A brita filter is not necessary, although it enhances boiled water even further. Boiling and filtering is the healthiest, albeit tedious. Don’t pour the last bit of water in a container after boiling, it’s better to toss it. Once in a blue moon, it’s good to pour every last bit into the container, unless your water source is contaminated with lead.
If you’re hungry, and not sure what to cook... just throw things you like into a pot and cook it. Most anything will work, just make sure you portion it to your preferences. Water, butter, and seasonings, are a great way to flavor it. Adding mayo on top of this adds a nice golden luster and thickens the broth. The cheapest ingredients (potatoes, onions, chicken or meat patties, frozen burritos) taste great. The more often you make soup, the better it will become. As will your wallet.
Firmly grasp a bar of the cheapest soap, and scrap it over an empty soap-bottle’s neck. Once it’s got a good bit in there, fill it up with hot water and shake it. Whenever you are low on hand soap, just refill it with hot water.
Shower in your clothes and hang them near a drafty spot to dry by morning
Add salt and pepper to boiled water to improve the taste
Okay new blog idea, it’s gonna be Free Experience Points. Pretty much... just things I discovered in life (that most older people already know about)... that make life easier or better for me. Soooo I’ll just be sharing those discoveries with everyone, and...hopefully, because of this, your life will become easier or better as well.
I’m changing...
...my blog, from space stuff to over-the-top advice that you probably shouldn’t take, mostly in regards to self-defense. Getting robbed at gunpoint kind of changed me I think, for the better, whether I like to admit it or not.
The end of the human race will be that it will eventually die of civilization. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you. - Neil deGrasse Tyson
Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.
- Rabindranath Tagore
I've always wondered why so many people state that a lightning bolt can reach temperatures 5-6 times higher than the surface of the sun.
The core of the sun, in comparison, seems far more interesting.
Lightning bolt ≈ 30,000K
Sun's Surface ≈ 6,000K
Sun's Core ≈ 15,700,000K
Then there's supernovas.
Super Nova Core Collapse ≈ 100,000,000,000K (100 billion)
Then there's mankind, in their laboratories, smashing atoms & whatnot.
Atom Smasher ≈ 4,000,000,000,000K (4 trillion)
Super Novas are much more destructive (and amazing) than a couple of atoms, though... despite their apparent destruction, new stars and planets are reborn from that same star dust.
A super nova is a stellar (star) explosion (just a heads up).
"I'm sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It's just been too intelligent to come here."
-Arthur C. Clarke
