Hey. I’m going to be honest about why I haven’t been around lately.
It’s because of all the ties to racist individuals that people seemingly have, and other people seem to ignore.
I don’t owe white people compassion or patience about this, but I’m doing it for my own well being. While I am beyond angry at some of the stuff I’ve heard and seen, I will try not to be too angry on my own principles.
I’m doing this for me, and not to appease the racists.
So let me try to articulate some points here.
I still see people interacting either first hand or second hand on this website, and I honestly no longer feel safe being here. I don’t even feel safe posting this because I am so scared of backlash. And that isn’t right.
I shouldn’t be scared of calling out anti-blackness as a black person in a community that claims to be progressive and full of activists.
But it’s become more and more clear how performative it all is.
How many black people have to get chased from this community before the people here actually care? Because I count multiple and my own foot is out the door.
And why is that when black folks or black allies call out people’s racism, people get mad at and/or ostracize them?
I think every single white person in this community needs to stop, look at their actions, and ask…Why am I still friends with people who say slurs? Why am I still friends with people who co-op BIPOC struggles to defend shipping raceplay, pedophilia, and incest? Why am I friends with people who directly excuse this behavior?
That is my call to action for you all.
I have a short list of folks that I am weary of, because of close friends telling me about their anti-black and racist actions, as well as first hand experience. I will not be @ing them. Because this isn’t a callout post as much as it is a plea.
Anti-Blackness is getting worse. It is not getting better. It is up to you to make it better. And it is up to me to not be silent about this anymore.
If you have questions as to why these people are here, message me privately. If you’re still skeptical despite hearing the criticism that black folks have, again, look at yourself. Not at them.
Anyway, my hiatus will continue until further notice. Anonymous will be turned off on this blog and many of my others. Thanks.
