I’m really enjoying Hidden Brain and their You 2.0 series. As I continue to navigate being unemployed and sometimes (more than I like) feeling stuck, I am still very excited about my work’s and life’s potential. Whatever it may be.

There is no perfect you, but there’s probably a better you that is achievable.

“What makes me unique?”

I sent this question to Ryland via text from my laptop. It was on a job application for a position I’m probably not qualified for and at a company I can’t remember. It’s been two months since I left my job, and in this time I’ve applied to nearly 150 open positions.

Your work ethic for sure.

Your willingness to try anything.

Your very broad taste!

He said.

In the blank box on the form, I wrote:

I hide my stubbornness behind my willingness to try anything. I will exhaust all options before giving up, and I find joy in learning new tricks.

I’m still not sure if that makes me creatively, down-to-my-bones unique. But it felt honest.
