bruce is indeed being held at the psychiatric facility he was taken to at the end of the movie , but one that it's for high level prisoners , including those with powers / abilities .
so , he is in a cage that was specifically modified for him ( since , at this point in time , the world has various ways of holding back people with those said abilities / powers ) , sort of like the cage that was in the helicarrier in 2012 ! and that was used to trap loki but was originally made for the hulk as we all know .
and bruce is in a corner of it , on the ground against the wall , wearing what it seems to be a straight up straitjacket , one that was made for him too in case hulk broke out as an extra measurement . . .
basic timeline for my bruce , mixing mcu lore as well as the marvel's avengers game lore ( obviously will have things from the comics as well , but these two are my main points of inspiration due to the fact that they are fixed ideas , not like the comics that are all over the place ) :
2012 : in the beginning of this year , he gets 'recruited' by shield , and then officially joins the avengers . he was in his early 30s in here ;
2013: in 2013 , age of ultron happens ( the end with hulk going into space does NOT happen ) ; and months later , the incident that became known as a-day happens too , and the avengers ( as they disband , one by one leaving ) face the lawsuits of numerous associations and people . bruce and tony are the last avengers remaining , until bruce leaves too . good point to make is that captain america 'dies' , which is the catalyst for this ;
2013 - 2017 ( can be a longer time span , depending on the thread ! ) : hulk takes over for all those years instead , just as the avengers are broken up completely . he does not leave the helicarrier at all ( it's abandoned in utah badlands , shield now gone too ) , and remains peaceful until eventually found by kamala khan . the world now has a bunch of anti meta-human / anti mutants propaganda , due to the fact that the explosion that happened in a-day created many ––– including kamala herself .
2017 : the avengers fight against modok , and win ( which gives shield the strength to come back as well , and the anti meta-humans / mutants propaganda goes quiet again ) ; this at the beginning of 2017. they are back together , even more when they have just rescued captain america . at the end of that year however is when civil war happens , and bruce takes a step back as he does not want to partake in either party . moves to new jersey fully . instead , often helps kamala since they live relatively close ( that's his adopted daughter , she is to him what peter is to tony thanks ) . is sort of ? adopted by the rest of her family ? friday nights he can be found dining with them .
2018 - 2022 : at the very beginning of 2018 , infinity war happens , and bruce distances himself from people as so many avengers and kamala too were victims to what happened . the four years that pass after the blip . he remained in touch with kamala's family , the only time he would show up would be on her birthday to celebrate with them . then , beginning of 2022 is when endgame would happen ! he gets hulk back in his mind , and he would be lying if he said he didn't miss him . kamala is also back !
2022 - 2026 : the main event of no way home happens in july of 2022 . during these years , bruce rebuilt his life and is now ( 2026 ) a professor at empire state university ( esu ) . and then , brand new day* happens .
IMPORTANT SHIT TO NOTE ( will be adding stuff from time to time ! ) :
i will be mentioning kamala in threads , as she is the reason bruce even came back to being in control in my lore for him . kamala , in this lore , would be 16 ( her canon age in the game ) in 2017 . meaning she is around the same age as peter parker right now .
i am not entirely caught up with the mcu atp , though i did watch the latest spiderman movie . i did not watch ms . marvel's show or the marvels movie , and i am entirely going off her game canon when it comes with headcanons for bruce .
and now , brand new day spoilers :
he does NOT wear the wrist-mounted inhibitor bracelet it shows on the movie , for two reasons : one ) in his good conscious , no matter what hulk has done . . . he cannot deny someone the chance to live . and two ) he at the moment feels safe and happy , hulk has no reason to come out . though , he still helps ' ned leeds ' with his questions and they overall have the same conversation .
jean grey controlling the hulk , which in turn made him fight peter , made bruce remember peter parker : since when the spell was cast in no way home , hulk was not the one in control of their body .
but like bruce said in the movie mid transformation , her controlling their minds DID break something : hulk was essentially brought back to the anger he had when him and bruce were younger , basically right after his 'birth' . specific keywords help him calm down and sort of be older again ( in this case , peter's name was the catalyst for the first example of that happening ) , before going back to that fully angry mind .

here's your friendly super fun reminder that every time bruce turns into hulk ? it hurts . hulk does not feel the same , because he usually accepts whenever bruce is about to come back and take control : but bruce ? he fights the transformation , teeth and nails . he can feel it happen .
his skin becomes too hot , and it feels like it's being pulled apart at how fast it begins to stretch . he feels the intensity at which his muscles and bones grow quickly , and his head always pounds at being able to hear hulk's voice beginning to appear .
friendly reminder that hulk has the mind of a 5 - 6 year old kid . he is that age mentally due to the fact that he is simply a manifestation of bruce's childhood trauma when it comes to his father .
bruce was around that age when he finally began to understand what was happening in his home , all the abuse that he and his mother suffered from . and he internalized everything .
hulk is the manifestation of said internalization : he is the anger and the rage , he is bruce's internal wish of wanting to have fought back . attacked back .
hulk can be curious and kind and gentle , and we've had so many things that showcase such . he is just the side that wishes to protect bruce , even if bruce does not understand it .

there's a small smile that creeps up the scientist's lips , just as he looks around the room ( it's awkward , full with tension as his right index finger taps restlessly against his other hand ) . it feels . . . official , and it's exactly what he had thought of when on his way there . never would he have thought to have someone , of the f.b.i. of all organizations , ask for his input on a case of sorts . . something that referenced him ?
not that he minded it : of course , not the reference to his life's work on some killing . . . what he didn't mind at all was people talking and wanting to talk to him . not hulk . though , after so many decades , he did know they would never be fully separated . . . for the behavioral analysis unit is filled to brim with armed personnel . which he is very sure normally aren't there .
