Drift balked, reaching for Rodimus's arm. The red mech turned and gasped. Both mechs were surprised for two different reasons--For Drift it was the face he thought he'd never see again, and for Rodimus it was the bloodied, shaky servos. [//hello!]
twinkandthighs ((hiiii!!!))
Judging by the looks, these werenât the alternates he knew. He gave them a friendly smile.
âYou must be Rodimus⌠I assume youâve been taking good care of Drift?â He gave the white mech some space to recover of his first impression.
Drift vented in a soft laugh. Neither he or Rodimus could imagine bonding, but Drift guessed the thought was nice. Rodimus kinda cringed at âConjunxâ. The thought of bonding wasnât appealing and if this Gasket here was trying to get on his good side it failed. He was still squinting when the Decepticon had slumped. After trying to hide those bloody servos (and now not even hiding them anymore), Rodimus wasnât sure if heâd believe anything. Even with how quickly Gasket smirked that creepy but smug smirk.  The swordsmech still couldnât help but relate. âI had lost my Gasket a long time ago.â And looking at the badge on Gasketâs chassis reminded Drift of where he was too. Rodimusâs tense field was blaring next to Driftâs own field, but he tried not to jump to conclusions. Though the blood drying on Gasketâs servos still unnerved him.âIt hurt, but wounds heal and things got better. I think heâd be proud.â
Gasket gave Rodimus a quick glance, unsure of what to make of the red mech other than the accustomed hate. Maybe that red mech should join his former ally lying on the floor but Drift was undoubtedly close to him and thatâd only bring difficulties. Gasket tilted his head, the white mech couldnât hide the glint in his optics as he spoke of his dead alternate. âCanât speak for my alternate, but Iâm not sure Iâd be proud if my Drift hung around Autobots.â He looked back at Rodimus, the smug smirk once again plastered to his golden face, and his optics swiped the Prime from head to pede. âThen again, whoâs to blame you when you have such good taste in mecha.â
Drift couldnât help but cringe, his nasal ridge wrinkling. He shrugged a shoulder. âMaybe your Decepticons didnât go down the same dark path that mine has. I canât be too sureâŚâ The white mech let his optics roll to the pool of blood that had began to coagulate. He shifted his weight to his other leg, and glanced at Rodimus when the ex-Primeâs engine gave a low rumble. âDo you expect a thank you? Of course Drift has good taste. Thatâs why he left the Decepticons.âÂ
Rodimus looked about ready to leave and tugged on Driftâs arm, ignoring the look Drift was giving him. He heard the strain in his friendâs voice earlier, and didnât want this whole thing to be any more awkward than it was. âDrift,â the red mech started, âlets just go. Iâm getting major no-no vibes from this mech.â
Drift vented before nodding in Gasketâs direction. This alternate was different, for sure--that glint in Gasketâs optics was a give away. Still, it was still kind of nice to see the mechâs familiar face. Kind of. âGood luck... cleaning up I guess.â The white mech offered a wave goodbye before Rodimus rumbled his engine again. Drift wasnât moving fast enough, and the red mech nearly dragged his friend away. What was keeping Gasket from hurting him or Drift? Rodimus did not want to stick around to find out.Â

âYou must be Rodimus⌠I assume youâve been taking good care of Drift?â He gave the white mech some space to recover of his first impression.
If Rodimus could get any more suspicious, he did. He squinted more and more, his mouth twisting as he gripped Driftâs arm when the swordsmech tried to move closer to this âGasketâ. That mech even tried to hide his servos, making his Decepticon badge even more apparent. Ninety-three points to the Shady-as-Pits Meter. âUh huh ok. Iâm the Prince of Luna 2,â he mumbled, sarcasm heavy in his field. Driftâs attention was on the other mech. Questions popping up in his helm at he took in Gasketâs posture, the badge on his chassis, the off kilter grin. âAh, yeah, a bit awkward. Itâs nice to meet you too⌠His excitement died down somewhat, then he glanced at Rodinus at the mention of an Amica. âRodimus and I are not eachotherâs Amicas but we might as well be.â He gave a weak laugh, and vented when Rodimus jabbed his waist. He clearly felt the tension in the otherâs field and his optics moved from Gasketâs face to the purple badge, then to the pool of energon forming at Gasketâs pedes. âYeah, it really is.â A part of Drift kept wanting to think this is his own Gasket but it wasnât. It isnât. This may as well be a new mech. âWhat happened to your Drift, then?â
Might as well keep a close eye on Rodimus, heâs too far to sense his EMF but his posture alone is enough to tell that, unlike Drift, he isnât comfortable and most likely ready to pounce if need be. âSorry, Drift. Didnât mean to confuse you⌠but you two would make good Amica or who knows, maybe even Conjux.â He made an over exaggerated posture of defeat when Drift asked about his own. âMy Drift..â sigh. âHe died before the war started. Losing the idiot hurt me bad, you know?â Gasket actually looked hurt, his blue optics glaring at the poodle under his feet. âHe just couldnât follow a simple order⌠and what you see here..:â he pointed to himself, bloody servos be damned. âIs what he left behind.â And the sad expression in his face morphed back into his previous smirk.
Drift vented in a soft laugh. Neither he or Rodimus could imagine bonding, but Drift guessed the thought was nice. Rodimus kinda cringed at âConjunxâ. Magnus did not quite see it as a clean slate as the first step in a very, very, very, very long process. Thankfully, he did not ruin Driftâs happy mood by saying that aloud. After sharing a firm handshake with his fellow commander, Magnus settled back into his office chair with a THUD.
âIâm always busy, Drift, but for important matters such as this I am not averse to rearranging my schedule I think creating an action plan will help the crew along with us. I would not consider it a waste of my time,â he said with a nod.
âSome things take precedence over others after all.â
âPerhaps we should ask Rung to suggest some trust building exercises. What do you think?â Magnus asked, drumming his fingers on the desk in thought.
The swordsmech stepped back to sit into his seat. What was probably firm for Magnus was almost too tight fro Drift, the swords mech flexing his servo after the handshake. He did feel better than he did all day, though, and he couldnât hide the small smile at Magnusâs willingness to work with him. âIâm glad to hear.â He tilted his head in thought. It probably would be a good idea to ask Rung. He nodded as he spoke. âRung would probably come up with more effective exercises than I could have.â Â
Starter: Jazz walked down the halls of the lost light . (Seeing as to how he was invited to come aboard by ratchet). Looking around for the captains office, he spotted it two doors down on the left. Walking towards said door he knocked.
Rodimus sat on the desk, brushing at dust on itâs too smooth surface. The red mech huffedâMegs must have asked to change the desk since the original was riddled with carvings. Megatron hardly used his office though, so Rodimus figured he wouldnât mind if they sat around. Rodimus missed this office, and since becoming Second, he had wanted to come back in here and grab anything he may have forgotten but never got around to it until today. Drift had stayed along, convinced to be Rodimusâs âoptics and audialsâ if someone, ie; Megs, was coming. Drift felt a presence at the door and waved to Rodimus. The knock still startled the Co-Captain, but he arched a brow at DriftâThe crew hardly visited Megs, who would be at the door? Rodimus then remembered that High Command of the LL had gotten a comm from Ratchet, and became excited. He sat up and moved to the door, telling Drift to relax. Perhaps this was the mech Ratchet had told them about, he murmured, then opend the door manually. He smiled big and waved at the visored mech before him, Drift peeking over his shoulder. âHi. Autobot Jazz, I presume?â
Jazz cocked his hips to the side and smirked at the young prime, he chuckled. âThank ya. Ah havenât even been here a full cycle and already ham bein flirted atâ he winked at them.
Jazz watched the two interact with each other for a bit and listened to what Drift said, before following the both of them inside. Listening to Rodimus talk about the energon dispenser and ravage., then watched as the young prime sat him self on his desk.
Meanwhile Drift stepped over data pads and stray folders informing him to watch his step. Jazz made his way over to the couch, stepping over data pads and folders, then planted his aft into the couch. Chuckling at the two he replied to Rodimus with âNah mah mech, ahâm good. Although the only thing ah need is mah music and a training room. And thereâs pretty much nothing else about to tell, however there are somethingâs you two and the crew are gonna have to find out ya selvesâ leaning back in the couch, he crossed his arms behind his helm, flexing a bit and crossed his legs, a smirk once more on his faceplates.
Drift nodded. âThe Lost Light is a very large ship. Iâm sure we can find you a room. Do you already have your music with you?â The white mech had pulled a datapad from his subspace, about to look for an open hab suite on the crew deck, but his curiosity was piqued. Rodimus, trying not to let his face plates heat up at Jazzâs flexing, beat him to the question. âWhat is that supposed to meanâFind out what?â The red mech never did like vague phrases like this. It did itâs trick though, and garnered both mechs interestâNot that Jazz was lacking their interest to begin with. Rodimusâs blunt question was not exactly what Drift had in mind, though. âSomething regarding why your here, I presume?â
Jazz looked towards the swordsmech and nodded âah sure do, have mah music ah mean.â He smirked again at the two, noticing Rodimus trying to controls his facial features, he chuckled. âLike ah said befoâ itâs for me tah know and for you to find out. And yeah, it has something to do with me bein here. So howâs bout ya tell meh all the action that went on, on this ship.â He asked. âBesides, mah lips are sealed, ya ainât gonna get much outta mehâŚfor nowâ he replied cheekily.
Rodimus wrinkled his nasal ridge. Now he was really curious. Granted, Jazz was the lead for Spec Ops. Of course he isnât going to tell so soon. The Third shook his helm, a light smile on his face. âWell, thereâs a room open. Itâs a smaller suite because its too early to give you a roommate, unless you want one.â Drift figures itâs better to just let the mech be. Ratchet trusts him, so Drift will too. He linked Jazz the directions to the room. Rodimus heaved a vent. âSeems a bit unfair for you to waltz in and not explain a thing but expect us to spill everything, yeah? Iâll fill you in if you explain why youâre here.â Rodimus then Jazz gave a cheeky grin of his own. Drift jabbed an elbow into Rodimusâs side. âBasically our mission is to find the Knights of Cybertron. Weâve dealt with sparkeaters, Overlord, Rodimus dealt with Tryest and time travel and became Co-Captain. Here we are.â The Co-Captain had the most betrayed look on his faceplates, his servo resting ontop of his spark. Then he started whining. âDriftâŚ. That was our leverage! Now Jazz wonât tel us anything!â
He accepted the link with thanks and told him so. âThanks mah mech, Iâm cool with it bein just me,ainât readeh for a room mate yet.â He watched as Drift once again jabbed Rodimus in the side. He then listened as Drift explained to him what went down while he wasnât here. He laughed at the co-captains expression. âMan..looks like ah missed ah lot ah fun huh? Now that ya told me what happened. Ah think Iâll give ya what yaâve been askin of meh.â He replied.
Crossing his arms under his chassis, he looked at the both of them square in the optics. âIâm here on an undercover mission from the Prime himself. And by Prime ah mean Optimus Prime. He sent me to do recon on cybertron and he also sent me here on the lost light to keep tabs and make sure everyoneâs alrightâŚespecially Megatron. Thereâs a few mechs back on earth who wouldnât mind comin back to serve under the ex-con leaderâŚand not in the friendly way either.â He told them.
Drift shook his helm, chuckling. "Mm they were all adding tothe adventure." The swprdsmech was suprised to hear that Jazz was willing to open up so soon. Well, he huffed almost haughtily as his field flicked against Rodimus's, honesty begets honesty. Rodimus grinned at the new info. It was good to hear that in a way Prime still didn't trust Megatron and had sent his own Second to check on things. That also kinda insulted Rodimus--Did Optimus not think he or Magnus could handle Megatron? Field mixing with different emotions, Rodimus, brought up a servo and gestured as he spoke. "Ah, nice. Really nice. So youre here just to keep an eye on Megs and not babysit, right? Ha, I can't wait to see Meg's face when he hears this. Thanks for bein fair." Tis also meant the Spec Ops leader might stay for a while. Rodimus didn't think he minded.

Rodimusâs faceplates contorted. Sure, there were Alternates all over, but it was still weird to have a mech he doesnt know call him by name. He kept glancing to the bloodied servos. What had this mech done? Who was he? Rodimus was still squinting his optics in suspicion when he answered. âUhâŚYeah. I have.â
Drift, however was still clenching Rodimusâs arm, then began to shake it in excitement at the smiling face before him. âRodimus, this is Gasket! Heâ er,my Gasket was a dear friend, but thisââ Drift had to clench himself to Rodimusâs arm to remind himself this Gasket could be a very different mech than the one the swordsmech knew. Finally, Drift looked at the bloodied servos, his optic ridges pinching together in concern. âWhat happened?â
What are they looking atâ?? Frag! Gasket forgot about that little detail and hid his soaked hands behind his back, giving them a not so innocent look and a very suspicious smirk. âItâs nothing.â He said, looking as if he hadnât just killed an Autobot. âI wasnât expecting visits so I just⌠forgot to wash my hands.â Pits, was that gleaming thing on the corner of his eye a growing pool of energon? he ignored it for the time being, acting as friendly as before. âDrift⌠itâs really nice to huh meet you. Awkward isnât it? Since we kinda already knew each other.â He waved with his hand, only to hide it again. âItâs the⌠the first time I see one of you with an Amica. Thatâs really cute.â He looked them over, noticing that, pretty much like all other alternates, these were Autobots, which reminded him of the glaring evidence of his Decepticon status and the gleaming badge on his chest. âIsnât it fun how life can take us to different paths?â Nope, this Gasket was definitely not like the others, if the slightly maniacal glint in his optics was enoigu proof.
If Rodimus could get any more suspicious, he did. He squinted more and more, his mouth twisting as he gripped Drift's arm when the swordsmech tried to move closer to this 'Gasket'. That mech even tried to hide his servos, making his Decepticon badge even more apparent. Ninety-three points to the Shady-as-Pits Meter. "Uh huh ok. Transformers: Driftâs butts
That⌠honestly wasnât the worst Drift was expecting to hear. Tight shoulders slumped slightly at the relief and tensed again in embarrassment. The critique was fair and, granted, true. Drift was always loyal when he found something or someone to nearly devote himself too and it is something he had kind of thought about for some time. That same devotion gets his crew hurt and himself hurt in the end, and the white mech frowned. All of this wasnât new. He had plenty of time to think about this while he had been âexiledâ. He knows Rodimus wouldnât purposefully harm his crew, but mechsâ will always get hurtâAccidents will always happen. All they can do is try to limit those deaths as much as they can. Even then, Rodimusâs plans usually was more prone to accidents, yet Drift had always hoped for the best. He was practically the gatekeeper between Rodimusâs accident-prone plans becoming real or staying blueprints, and Drift was always that third vote that let the plans fly.  Drift cringedâhe had tried to be more firm since heâs been back, but it wasnât enough. âI can keep working at this, but you said my presence worries you, rather than, say, traits about me that worry you.â He wrinkled his mouth plates as he thought of what to say. The Enforcer did say that loyalty isnât a bad thing, but only Driftâs particular loyalty was unhealthy, excessive. Drift understood that fullyâbut it initially hit Drift that his very presence alone was bad for everyone. It did feel like he was being blamed for the problems and deaths on the ship. Again. The swordsmech sighed. âIf my presence is what worries you, I canât change that. I want to stay here. I can change that âzealous devotionâ you mentioned earlier. I have been changing, but I am aware I need to try harder.â Granted, Magnus and Rodimus were two extremes. For Rodimus, the ends justified the means, and for Magnus, it didnât. Drift would really have to compromise between the two.  âItâsâŚgoing to be hard, but nothing in life is ever easy.â
Well, Drift had taken that⌠gracefully. Magnus was relieved; although, he would have handled Driftâs anger with the same quiet resolve that he was giving now. Magnus did not doubt the truth of his words no matter how the third would have reacted.
âYou and what you do are intertwined, Drift. As far as I see it, worrying about your presence and worrying about how you present yourself to the Captain are the same thing. I will not quibble over details, though, as I am pleased to hear that you are taking into account what I have to say,â he responded with a nod. There was a slight relaxation in the titanâs frame, hinting that he was genuine in his offer.
âVery well. I accept that this is of your own volition and you truly mean it. You have already handled this much well. It is a step in the right direction, and we can form plans on how to further this⌠understanding that we have started to develop.â
Soon the titan is on his pedes and leaned across the desk, holding out his massive hands towards Drift. âDo we have a deal?â
"Ah, well I'm.... glad I didn't disappoint you."Drift's shoulders slumped again, glad he and the Enforcer made it to this point. The blue mech had relaxed a little, and that in turn relaxed Drift. As Magnus stood and offered his servo, the swordsmech also stood, placing his own darker servo into the white one. He noted how small his servos were in comparison, how his was nearly overwhelmed in the mass of Magnus's. "Yes." Drift didn't think he would have to get through so much baggage so quickly (he thought this whole discussion would have been done elsewhere amd at a later time), but at least the slate is clean, now. Now to build that slate into a stable foundation. "Hey, are you still busy today? I can come back later when you're off shift, or stay here to..." Now that the whole discussion was out of the way and done, Drift wasn't sure what else to bring up other than this, so he shrugged. "To, how did you say, 'form plans to further our understanding'?" Was it too soon to ask?

Rodimus, trying not to let his face plates heat up at Jazzâs flexing, beat him to the question. âWhat is that supposed to mean--Find out what?â The red mech never did like vague phrases like this. It did itâs trick though, and garnered both mechs interest--Not that Jazz was lacking their interest to begin with. Rodimusâs blunt question was not exactly what Drift had in mind, though. âSomething regarding why your here, I presume?â
âThe way you attach yourself to Rodimus reminds me of the zealous devotion you were known for among the Decepticons, and it worries me,â Magnus responded as quickly as that. There was no biting the bullet once the Third have given him permission to speak openly and honestly.
âNot to say loyalty is a negative trait, but I am not sure your loyalty is tampered with sense. You support Rodimus in some of the most ridiculous plans that do, yes, end up putting the crew in harmâs way. That is what worries me most about your presence, Drift.â
And then he settled back into his seat with a deep rumble of his engine. He could only wonder how the other would react to such a thing, and there was a good chance that it wouldnât be well at all.
That... honestly wasnât the worst Drift was expecting to hear. He knows Rodimus wouldnât purposefully harm his crew, but mechsâ will always get hurt--Accidents will always happen. Drift cringed--he had tried to be more firm since heâs been back, but it wasnât enough. âI can keep working at this, but you said my presence worries you, rather than, say, traits about me that worry you.â He wrinkled his mouth plates as he thought of what to say. The Enforcer did say that loyalty isnât a bad thing, but only Driftâs particular loyalty was unhealthy, excessive. Drift understood that fully--but it initially hit Drift that his very presence alone was bad for everyone. Drift would really have to compromise between the two.  âItâs...going to be hard, but nothing in life is ever easy.â
