“… You like all that art stuff?” Luke nodded to a painting on the wall.
kasia-tomas:
“You are very interested in it I see.” Kasia giggles watching his excitement. “What is your favorite?”
“Eh –,” Luke frowned for a second, trying to think. “I dunno. Isn’t it a bit unfair to the other movies to pick a favorite?”
watsonmasters:
“Yeah horror movies and horror stories aren’t that plot heavy, and fairly unrealistic. Like the popular trope of having a baby sitter get a phone call from inside the house and then she- well it’s usually depicted as a she- get killed. That’s completely impossible. Unless you’re calling from a cell inside the house, but they usually depict it as a landline to landline. Also, the random killer coming in and killing a babysitter has never happened. There’s only been one reported case and it’s believed- but never proven- that the girl knew her killer. Sorry, but yes they aren’t plot heavy and full of overused fake blood and jumpscares.”
The realisation that Watson actually worked with cases that involved pretty horror-like scenarios just came to Luke. “But there has been a case about it?” he asked, eyes growing wide. “That’s unbelievable. Who’d hurt a babysitter? They’re like just taking care of babies. Not hurting anyone. Doesn’t seem fair to me. Luckily it doesn’t happen more often.”
kasia-tomas:
“You should! Yes, it is. It is very fun.” Kasia giggled as she watched the man. “You seem to enjoy movies.”
“I do! I like going to the cinema, with the big screen and everything. Plus, the technology that the movies are coming with these days – it’s just fascinating.”
floydxxmarshall:
“…what?”
His voice trailed away in a silent mumble. “ … Science? Y’know.”
kasia-tomas:
“Often we are most drawn to the characters we can connect with. It makes us feel like there is people who understand us.” Kasia smiled with a shrug. “Yes! That is the one. It was very fun. A little silly, but very fun.”
“ – Oh I wanna watch that sometime too. It’s animated and life action, right? I’m curious to see more of that. It looked really great in the trailer.” Luke looked around him to look for the poster of the movie, hanging in the cinema hall.
mrtristen:
The other’s excitement brought a lot of comfort to Tristen, glad there was no awkward tension between them. Plus, hearing about this dog got him excited himself. “H-H-He sounds wonderful. I don’t th-think I’ve ever h-heard of that kind of d…og, but if he’s tiny he m-must be sweet..!”
“He is! He’s the sweetest dog I know,” Luke told him. “I take him out for walks all the time when I’m over at my mom’s. And she trained him very well, he can sit and everything. “Have you ever owned a dog?” he asked. Most people who loved dogs used to own them as well. Or they just really liked them and never had a chance to own one.
withoutmischief:
“That’s not surprising, this place looks like it hasn’t changed in centuries.” Perhaps that’s an exaggeration, but it had to have been decades since any serious changes happened. That, or she’s just really used to the quick-paced changes in LA. “Something like that. Ran off to LA for a bit, cleared my head.”
“LA?” He smiled. “All the way to LA? What was it like?” Luke had never been to LA. The only thing he knew about it was that it was sunny. At least sunnier than it was in Penbrook.
withoutmischief:
“I know places don’t tend to change that much in two months, but I kinda expected to come back and be totally lost and feel like I was in another country.”
Luke crossed his arms in front of his chest. “I don’t think it’s even changed a lot in the twenty-six years I’ve lived here.” He was still wondering where she’d been. Perhaps she didn’t want him to ask. “Have you been on a vacation or something?”
mrtristen:
“I, um… I-I was at the park, earlier, and I saw a woman w-w-with two dogs. I-I like dogs. I wanted t-to pet them, but I was too s-sc-scared to go ask the lady.” So instead, he mentioned the encounter to a stranger in an attempt to make some sort of a friendship. Which was bound to probably get him hit. “Ha…Have you, uh, e-ever seen a dog?”
Luke smiled excited at the guy. “My mom’s got a dog. A small one, she got it like a year ago. He was still a pup back then. He loves to be petted.” He searched his jacket for a phone because now he totally wanted to show a picture of little Tiger (the name was his mothers idea, not his). Alas, he couldn’t find it and instead chose to tell the stranger the breed of the dog. “It’s a Fox Terrier.”
floydxxmarshall:
“I fail to see how that makes sacrifice rituals logical.”
“Eeeh –” Luke frowned. “Because of … Science?”
trinity---kaper:
“Sorry,” she chuckled. “I guess I like darker things, but… I’ve always been that way so you can’t expect much else.” Even though she said it in a joking manner, it was basically true. Trinity had never been an optimist and honestly, she kind of liked it that way. She’d rather be sad and see things how they were than wear rose-colored glasses and not know the truth of the world. “Well, good, I’m glad I made you curious. It really is worth a watch, at least once.”
If she liked darker things the ending of the movie would probably be just the way she’d told him it would be. He probably wouldn’t watch it. “Yeah, I’ll check it out probably.” He told her with a smile. If he added the probably he wasn’t technically lying. “D’you have to work today?” Luke asked, kicking a small stone that was laying on the sidewalk.
watsonmasters:
“There’s a difference between an open ending for viewers to decide and a gaping plot hole though. I know someone who’s a complete horror freak, but she hates horror movies because most of them have these gaping plot holes in them.”
Luke scrunched up his face. “Ugh - Horror movies.” He didn’t like those. He remembered watching one a couple of years ago, well not really watching. His eyes were closed for the bigger part of the film. “I don’t believe those are about any plot at all. They just have loads of blood in them.”
kasia-tomas:
“Ah, that makes season. Maybe you have a similar brain to hers therefore you connected with her in some way?” Kasia smiled softly up at him. “I do not think so. I watched one with a little bunny who caused a lot of trouble.”
“Perhaps. I mean, I guess the other characters weren’t really like me a lot.” Luke smiled back at her. “I think I saw the trailer for that one – isn’t it the Peter Rabbit one? Was it fun?”
floydxxmarshall:
“Logical? In what way are sacrifice rituals logical? Period?” He folded his arms into a tight pretzel. “It’s stupid, really. Because, after all, that’s when it’s brightest outside and people are more likely to spot you. It’s more risk to break in.”
“In like a way that you often hear that rituals need to be performed at full moon. Otherwise the stuff won’t work. There are a lot of natural phenomena that involve the full moon.” He had read up on the subject a couple of years ago, having to use it for a school project of some sort. “For burglars it doesn’t seem like the best technique no, I agree.”
kasia-tomas:
“It is not normal for that to happening in American films?” Kasia said to the man as she happened to be listening to him. “That the wise …ummm how do you say….characters come in late to help solve the problem of the main character? For the main character to struggle on their own before getting the wisdom they need to finish the movie?”
“All films are different but it’s not uncommon. I don’t know – I don’t really notice stuff like that often but this just stood out to me for some reason.” He turned to the strange girl. “Did you just watch the same movie as me?” Luke asked her, trying to remember if she were sitting in the same cinema room as he had. It wasn’t awfully full today, just a couple of people.
watsonmasters:
“And when they don’t explore those possibilities, it leaves plot holes, though sometimes I will admit, it does leave a good opening for a sequel, however if you aren’t planning one, then I believe writers should make a note of every plot point and advantage they have and make sure it’s used to the best of the abilities and answered correctly.”
“Yeah,” Luke agreed. “Otherwise it just all feels a bit like loose sand, y’know? There’s nothing wrong with leaving a bit out for the viewer to fill in for themselves, but not that much. Although to be fair, it was mostly just with this character I had a problem with.”
