September 25th/October 31st: five weeks of fannish themes to dwell in this wonderful world of Twin Peaks until the release of Mark Frost’s The Final Dossier
What is The Final Countdown? After a personal ‘happy feelings’ fanart countdown to The Secret History that gave birth to this blog and the WONDERFULXSTRANGE exchange for the Showtime premiere, here we are at the end of the road, waiting for The Final Dossier. This time I’m drawing from the classic themed fandom weeks, a low-stress, low-effort way of bringing fandom together. The cast list is big so we’re having five full weeks to celebrate as much of it as possible, divided by character affiliation.
Who can participate? Everyone. There is no sign-up and no minimum output required, you don’t even have to follow this blog. You wanna do a single post on week four, you do just that. You wanna do the full set day after day, you’re my hero. You wanna do all the headcanon Thursdays, that’s great. Personally, I’m aiming for one ‘major’ post per week and then hopefully smaller things here and there.
Which works are allowed? All of them. This is usually a fanart blog, but for this event I’m opening it to fic, fanmixes, moodboards, icon sets, edits, meta posts etc…
How do I participate? Make a post that fills one or more of this event’s prompts and tag countdowntotwinpeaks among the first five tags. I’ll reblog it on here and then add it to a final masterpost. If you wanna be a sweetheart, also mention that your post was made for countdowntotwinpeaks’ The Final Countdown initiative.
I was abducted by infradimensional beings that looked like owls during week 2 and I really wanted to contribute to that one, can I still do it? Yes. Low-stress & low-effort means all we care about is that people participate and have fun. You can absolutely use week 2 prompts on week 5.
Does $character belong in $week? If you’re genuinely asking yourself this question, the answer is yes. Go forth and do your thing and don’t sweat it. For example, Monica Bellucci can be part of the out-of-town people or of the spirits depending on how you interpret her scene, or James can count as Twin Peaks law enforcement if you squint. If you’re dead sure that Frank is a tulpa you can count him as a spirit (even better if the fact is reflected in your fanwork).
So how are these weeks divided, what are the prompts? The weeks are each dedicated to one chunk of the cast, roughly grouped as: spirits, out-of-town characters, townsfolk, local law enforcement, and the feds. The prompts are the same each week: a favourite character, a character you haven’t considered, a place, a headcanon, a song, a quote, an ending. You are free to use these at will, for example making a fanmix for your favourite character of the week, and using a song’s lyrics in a photomanip, or straight-up posting the song and telling us how it reminds you of a character or plot featured during that week. More examples on Sunday, when the first week’s post will go up!
