I say go get some coffee! Decaffeinated one just isn’t as good, but might be the better choice if you and caffeine in the afternoon don’t do so well. Oh, I have so many. I have a dachshund-German sheperd mix, a beagle-chihuahua mix and a chihuahua, a pitbull mix, a pitbull terrier, a yorkshire terrier, and three bloodhounds. Oh! And a pig, who’s all up into the whole cuddling too.

Yeah, if I drink coffee with caffeine in it in the afternoon, I am one of those people who’d be wired and up all night long. Caffeine in the afternoon doesn’t effect you? Wow you do have a lot of fur babies! I have a couple myself. Maybe one of these days we can take ‘em all to the dog park and let them play around a bit. Might be kind of fun. How do your dogs get along with your pig?

Think of it this way: You’re all prepared to do it right next year. It’s like going to sleep after a barely successful day to then get back up in the morning and give it a new go. Except we’re not talking night and morning here but rather winter and spring. I think it could be fun, yeah. Though I did mean it when I said I clearly don’t have a green thumb.

A new year is a new start for sure. I’ll be starting a garden much earlier next year. I really ought to have known better, but on the plus side, I got to support the local farmers more this way. There’s so many hard workers out there that they definitely deserve more attention. Come on Alex! I bet you have a better green thumb than you give yourself credit for. It just takes a little practice and you’ll get better, I am sure of it. You’re a hard worker, I can see that.

No one was hurt in the process but I was left awfully coffee deprived. So not a good thing, I’m definitely not a morning person. Though I was definitely awake after. And don’t get me wrong, I love the dogs and snuggles, so definitely not all bad, but they’re… heavy. And a lot.

It’s in the middle of the day, but you’re making me want some coffee. Maybe some decaffeinated coffee would be better for right now. I’m glad that none of you were hurt, though, that’s definitely a plus. What kind of dogs do you have?

Ah, I never got around to have my own garden, but my wife.. ex-wife, really, did work on building one before she moved back to England. So I’m just here with the remnants of it and no green thumb to care for it.

My garden grew a little, but not as well as I had hoped that it would... I mean, I guess I kinda already knew but I wanted to experiment around and see how it went. If it’s something that you’d be interested in, I could show you a few things about gardening next year. Just give me a call whenever you’re ready.

Whoever said slippers are great to wear when you’re home and cozy and just lurking around just couldn’t have been more wrong. I tried standing up and getting coffee from the kitchen, stumbled over my own two feet (in slippers), fell right over one of the dogs who apparently thought I was trying to get cuddles so now I’m on the floor under a pile of dogs because they all want in on snuggles.

Someone help me, I just wanted some coffee.

As long as neither one of you are hurt, I don’t think it sounds all that bad. Actually, if this happened in the morning, it sounds like it could be kind of a good way to wake up.

Y’know I think I dropped in here a little late to be starting a garden up, but I’m going to give it a go and try it anyways. Wish me luck everyone, I think I’m gonna need it. Anyone else start one up while I was gone?

I’ve been taking my little pup outside, we’re growing some tomatoes and beans. What do you have growing in yours? I think a nice apple or pear tree would be a great addition to any garden or yard.

Tomatoes are always great. Have you ever tried fried green tomatoes before? Those are amazing. If you haven’t, I highly recommend it. Ask for us, we’re a vegan family, so we try to grow a little bit of everything. Beans, carrots, tomatoes, squash, potatoes, watermelon, different types of peppers, lettuce, cabbage, beets, you name it, we try to grow it. And I’d have to agree! An orange tree would be amazing to have, too.

Yeah! We try to plant a little of everything that we can possibly think of and then some. We got into the habit in Hawaii, where most things are pretty expensive, since most of it is shipped over to use from the mainland. But it’s a good habit to get into, I think. It’s a very good way to disconnect from everything for a little while and relax a bit. And I could see that! You might be able to put up some kind of small wired fence to keep the little guys out if you wanted?

Has anyone else been outside working on their gardens a lot lately? The corn in my garden is finally getting a little taller than I am, and a few of the tomato plants are starting to produce a few tomatoes, too. What are you guys growing? And if you don’t have a garden, what would you like to plant in one if you did?

We did find a place, and we had it renovated… only the solar panels are missing. Please come by and have a look around at what we could still improve. We do have central floor heating, and cooling - it’s quite an interesting system, too. Does it never get cold in either state? I can hardly believe that. 

Sure thing. I’ll drop by soon to have a look around. I could help with the solar panels, too, if you need any help with that when you buy ‘em. I think it depends on where you live in those states. In can get kind of chilly in the higher elevations of Hawaii, but both stays around near perfect temperatures through the winter. Not too hot and not too cold. Hey look at that, I’m sounding a lot like Goldilocks.

We don’t have a place yet, but we’re looking, and I’d love your input. You keep saying that we should make things more sustainable, and both Richard and I have the means, so why not? So windows, insulation, solar panels, sustainable AC… central floor heating? I just want to do it right, before we move in somewhere, you know?

You’ll have to let me know when you guys find a place. I’d be happy to swing by and give a few more pointers before you move into the place. Ask for the central floor heating, I think that would be a great idea, too. I lived in Hawaii and Texas for a while, so I sometimes forget about those. I do know that they have some systems that works with water, which might be kind of nice to work with. Now that you mention it, I may have that installed before winter gets here.

Well that sounds like a great idea to have in town. I wouldn’t say I’m vegan but hey I’m open to new food and choices. Well I miss seeing you around. I’ve been good I mean Alex and myself are the proud parents of three goats, two horses, four dogs, and six chickens. So we are quite busy.

Maybe I could cook something for you some time, since it may be a little while before the restaurant opens up with the social distancing thing still going on. I missed you, too, but I have a little more time on my hands now, so hopefully I can be around a little more. Oh, I bet they keep you busy! Have you taken yours horses out for a ride around some of these trails around the town? I bet that’d be a lot of fun.

@rylwoody​ - I know you know these things better than anyone else. What would it take to make a house fully eco-sustainable?

I couldn’t say for sure until I could get a better look at your place, but some of the more common fixes is getting better insulation, and then sealing up the cracks around your window--- that way you can make sure it’s easier to regulate the temperature in your own home. The next thing I would recommend is solar panels. And if you need an AC unit, don’t use the type that runs on freon, that stuff is just bad for the environment. There are other smaller things you could do, though, like being mindful of how much water you use or putting recycling bins right in your home. You thinking about doing some renovations?

Royal, don’t ever change. I’ve been in the middle of the London madness the last couple of weeks and I’m finally home, girls in tow since they’re out of school for now anyways, and everything here’s the same. You’re all the bloody best. You really are, for a second there it looked, as if I couldn’t come back here at all and that would have been a bugger and a half. As things are, I can’t even give you all a proper hug. So why don’t I turn around to my best feature for you instead. I bloody missed you!
