Is gender just taboo for dwarves to reveal outside of an immediate family context, either by birth or by marriage? Or is "Mum and Dad" the phrase dwarf children use to address both parents at the same time, not knowing which is which but assuming the right person will answer to the right word? Do dwarf children know which one of their parents is which? Do they know the gender of their siblings???
