Emotional and physical abuse

After being in that type of relationship for over a year...you really don't know who you are anymore. You don't know your morals or your self worth. You don't know who to run to you don't want to run to anyone. The night I about lost my life should have been a wake up call. The first day he choked me should have been. But for some reason nothing made me leave. I was always the girl who made fun of women who stayed in an abusive relationship and would be like if a guy ever put his hands on me I'd beat the fuck out of him, etc. But in my situation, I tried. Every time. I would get one punch in and bam. He was so much stronger...so much stronger...
