while marnie enjoyed the cooler seasons over the summer ones, waking up to unexpected snow near the end of summer was a bit of a shock. she tried to dress her best to fit the occasion before wandering outside. everything looked magical. she was trying to take in her surroundings when she noticed a familiar face, a smirk forming across her lips as she approached the girl. her hands slid into her pockets as she closed the distance between uma and herself, “it kind of sucks that we happened to magically skip over the best season, huh?” she teased, referring to fall. “you look absolutely miserable. do you want to borrow my jacket? i’m pretty used to the cold.”

uma had never grown accustomed to winter -- she’d only experienced it two times now, the third approaching in the next few months. but, it came a bit faster than predicted and she was caught off guard. she’d only a cardigan and a half sleeve shirt for protection against the cold, an umbrella tucked under her are just in case snow began to fall once more. she gave marnie a scrutinizing look, not amused in the slightest. “i’m miserable not just because of the snow, but because everyone is so damn happy about it. how can you be happy about this wet, dirty, frozen slush?” she complained, glaring at the snow as if it would melt by the action. “i will take your jacket and you can join me for the coffee i’m going to get,” she said in her backwards, thankful way.

Pacifica knew just how ridiculous she must have looked as she made her way onto campus, wearing a pleated white skirt and a purple sweater. The sweater was about the extent of ‘wintery’ clothes she owned, having left the majority of the others at home. She hadn’t necessarily expected to need them while she was at college. A shiver ran through her body, keeping her hands wrapped around the hot latte she had ordered from the cafe. She was grateful for any source of warmth. She realized her teeth were chattering subtly, eyes shifting toward the person who was beside her. “This is like totally ridiculous. I’m actually freezing.”

dimitri had always been a fan of the cold and owned more ‘winter’ clothes than otherwise. so, when the unexpected snow hit, he was prepared. he pulled on one of his favorite jackets and appropriate shoes. when he headed out, he felt beyond comfortable -- not even bothering to question why this was happening. considering the large amount of interesting folk that attended the school, it would be no surprise if it was announced that someone had their hand in this. then again, global warming could really be taking its toll. he noticed pacifica and couldn’t help but laugh, biting down on his lip to stop it. “are you? i really thought you looked comfortable,” he teased as he started to shrug off his jacket. “don’t you own, like, pants or something? anything would have been a better choice than a skirt -- here,” he said, finally holding out his jacket for her to take. “be careful with it. it’s my favorite, okay?”

A look of absolute confusion was evident upon Oliver’s face as he stepped out of his dorm in the morning, dressed in probably the least conventional attire considering the snow that covered the ground. But he was in his element, he didn’t need to wear warm clothes. He actually felt comfortable. He spent a few minutes trying to figure out if he had accidentally caused this to happen with his powers before coming to a conclusion: no. Even though he still had questions, they were pushed to the back of his mind. He focused really hard on the snow and suddenly it began to move in a flurry, creating a snowman. He did a little twirl out of happiness, a smile spreading across his lips. It was then he realized he wasn’t alone. A smile appeared on his lips, “Do you want to build one with me? It’s more fun to do it without magic involved.” He giggled.

aladdin was beyond confused when he saw the snow on the ground. he hadn’t much experience with snow in the past -- where he lived, he was lucky if they experienced any sort of snow for a week out of the whole year. it made him feel giddy and cold -- like the holidays were already here. he was wondering about, kicking up the snow casually when he spotted oliver. his mouth dropped as he watched the snowman craft itself. “you did that? that’s so amazing,” he said almost breathlessly, taking a few steps closure to examine the seemingly perfect snowman. “i mean, i would love to,” he finally answered with a laugh. “this is crazy. can you do more stuff like this? it’s so cool.”

“Well,” she explained, “I have a few shots of tequila in me so my filter isn’t great at the moment. I might not have voiced it but I’ve thought it since I met you when I was a siren for a minute,” she sighed, it had been fun being a supernatural being.

uma let out a gentle laugh, obviously very pleased. “i like this lack of filter, so please continue,” she encouraged. she remembered the other from that strange week and was proud of herself for making an impression. “i’m sad i wasn’t able to keep you in my fold -- it would have been nice to have someone on my side for once. we could have shared so many meals together,” she entertained.

carson stared at the other with a completely blank expression, “–is that not supposed to happen when you get older? sometimes you don’t look old, you just look haggard and awful. or at least that’s what i’ve noticed since coming here.” they tucked a loose strand of hair behind their ear. “but, i don’t think you personally look bad.” though it wasn’t like their opinion very much mattered in regards to this specific matter. “why are you so worried about what you look like? are you trying to impress someone? a girl?” that was something carson could help with at least.

aladdin’s mouth dropped open a bit in shock at the response to his half-hearted statement, covering his mouth in order to stifle any laugh threatening to come out. “oh my gosh-- you don’t always look haggard and awful as you grow. some people look more refined and nice over time,” he quickly said, trying to give some hope to the older people. “but thank you -- i appreciate it, really. but... i don’t know. it’s pretty normal for people to worry about what they look like, right? i mean, there is this one person that is really nice and i see them around a lot and we somehow got to know each other. but, that’s totally not what i’m worried about,” he lied, though it was obvious.

oliver couldn’t help but blink in surprise at the other’s statement, tilting his head to the side ever so slightly. “does being gay correlate with you wanting money or did you just decide to mention the fact that you’re gay so that i’m more likely to give you some money?” he pursed his lips together. “cause if it’s the latter, it’s totally working.”

“well,” she said, scooting closer to the other. “it’s both. all gays know this. gays need things that cost money and they deserve it, but also you should want to give them money  because they’re gay. it’s a beautiful cycle,” she explained with a smirk. “plus, i forgot my wallet and a waffle cone sounds so good right now,” she practically whine-begged. “you wouldn’t want a cute little gay like me to melt away, right?”

She let out a long sigh, “oh, okay, you’re one of  those,” she said, the self important type, the type that thought they new better than everyone. “Honestly, I think it’s as simple as an attitude adjustment. You teach self defence at a university, it’s not like your work is going to change the world, relax a little, grade honestly and don’t get invested in people who aren’t all that interested in what you have to say.”

kylo pursed his lips, not sure he wanted the advice or not. he’d heard it all before from those outside his coven -- he needed to be less uptight, smile more, not be such an asshole. he didn’t see the point of it all. “yes, my work won’t change anything -- you’re right. but, what you’re saying is that i can’t be invested in anyone here because all of my students seem to be very half hearted about this all,” he countered. it wasn’t meant to be a serious conversation, but everything that came out of his mouth sounded serious or annoyed.

“Darling, the kinds of kinks I have would give you nightmares,” he said with a cold smile, “so I think it’s time you leave, I’ve had more than enough of you and your attitude, I won’t subject my guests to it any longer, now shoo before I loose my temper.” Flames flickered up his neck and along his hands. 

marie huffed, arms crossing over her chest. “my attitude is perfectly fine. but, if you want to get all flame-y, then fine -- i suppose i should go. i wouldn’t have a good time anyway,” she excused, though she was secretly bummed out about being essentially kicked out. “see you later or not, we’ll see if you remember me if i decide to test my luck again,” she teased.

aladdin had always had trouble dealing with his hair – often times he just left it to fate to decide what it would do and how it would be styled. today, fate wasn’t being kind to him apparently. he was stunned the moment the other was close enough to fix his hair, eyes wide before his lips melted into a fond and thankful smile. “thank you. maybe that’s why i’m no good at remembering any of this – my hair keeps getting in the way,” he mused, putting down the script in his hand. “but, you do know yours does the same thing, right? how can you see at all?” he teased, gently returning the favor by tucking a few strands behind oliver’s ear.

“All the time. Everyone is so proud of what their parents gave them and what they have. Everyone who has less is below them and that includes me. Don’t worry, though – I’ll show them all not to doubt me.”

Ryan: Do you think you're better than everyone at school because you're famous?

“What? No! Not at all. I think I’m pretty much like everyone else. Yeah, I’m lucky with being famous and having a bit more money, but anyone can get there if they want it hard enough. Honestly, I hate that people think that about me. It makes me wish I did think that way just so it wouldn’t bother me so much. I don’t want people assuming I’m full of myself when I really try not to be.”
