Visited Amerikamura and Dotomobori in Osaka. Basically Time Square with a river though the middle of it. Very crowded but trendy and beautiful nonetheless.Â

Took a trip to Osaka Castle; âItâs a nice âunâ
Soooooo when you get lost trying to find the Tenjin Festival, naturally the only thing left to do is go to Universal Studios Osaka.Â
Harajuku Owl Cafe- desserts and friendly birds abound!!! Pretty sure we want owls now. Holding them and petting them is ok, but mind the poops.
Took a tour to Gunkanjima or Battleship Island, a coal mining island near Hiroshima abandoned around 40 years ago. Super cool and probably super haunted.Â
The island of Miyajima with the famous âfloatingâ Torii gate dating back to the 6th century. We stayed in a traditional Ryokan and pet a couple of deer. Needless to say, we definitely coming back.
Wonderful wonderful shopping day!!! Hanshin department store was like a Japanese Neiman Marcus, but the HEP 5 mall was 8 floors of cute clothes and trendy fashion, bigger than anything we have in America. We even got to ride the Ferris wheel on top!!! And to top it off, Denden Town, famous for pop culture and electronics. Elephant got culture shock, and Dog spent all her money. Oops.
Beautiful dinner and visit with the Fujiwara Family in Kobe as a Nagomi Visit cultural exchange. Here's to a wonderful tonkatsu meal and some newfound friends!!!
Today, on our first day in Miyajima, a deer ate Dogs' luggage tag. Needless to say, the trip is off to an enDEERing star.
SO. MANY. DEER.Â
The deer in Nara are so well behaved! Theyâll bow to you when you feed them!Â
A day trip to Nara, a former capital of Japan! We saw several ancient temples, a giant Buddha, thousands of sacred lanterns and SO MANY DEER.Â
The incredible Fushimi Inari. Over 10,000 Torii gates dating back hundreds of years dedicated to the Shinto God Inari, god of wealth, rice, foxes, and fortune. Albeit a tiring walk, it was truly an unforgettable experience. Â
The Gion Matsuri was as crowded as it was beautiful! We joined the sea of people, walked âtill our feet feel off and celebrated our first festival in Japan!Â
Caught in a sudden downpour at Nijojo. I mean, it is the rainy season, but...
Delicious cold soba at a nearby restaurant in Kitayama. Perfect for a warm evening!!!
The Iwatayama Monkey Park in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Even though youâre meant to stay 3 meters away from the monkeys, they just kinda walk up right behind you? Apparently, no one told them that rule.Â
