The knots

Those knots in the pit of your stomach. Clinging and growing with anticipation of what could be, what can be, what should be and what's to come. You fight them, ignore them, try to embrace them and struggle to be brave, be strong, be calm and hope. But they cling and wrap your brain in the struggle, looping thoughts round and round, binding everything tighter. Enveloping the cord of voice that once was free to speak and release. They drowned the sound of reason, the silent cry for help. The sleep, a respite. The meditation, a momentary calm. Replacing hope with fear, hoping you back down from the precipice of reaching those dreams. The struggle is real. But I have a secret weapon. A knife to slice those knots to shreds. I have determination. And courage. And love. And knowledge. Knowledge that my struggle is mine alone and compare it to none. There lies my freedom. Fuck you, knots.
