Every game night needs a good snack! Society of Luminaries member @jaspervandermeer shares this savory cruncher! His recipe below: 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂 After Mabon, Gretje and I munched on roasted butternut squash & pumpkin seeds while playing Illimat. Gretje refered to them later as “Unsown Snacks,” which sounds just gimmicky enough to share here. If anyone else wants to try this recipe, then... 1) Wash seeds. 2) Pre-heat oven to 215°F/100°C. 3) Pat seeds dry with a kitchen towel. 4) Spread seeds across a baking sheet, then place them in the heated oven. Stir seeds occasionally until dried. This'll take about 40 minutes or so. 5) Remove seeds from oven, then place them in a container you can seal with a lid. 6) Pre-heat oven to 330°F/165°C. 7) Pour in a bit of almond oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or grapeseed oil over the seeds. Use just enough to coat the seeds when you toss them. 8) Add 1Tablespoon/15grams of this spice mixture: 1 part ground fenugreek, 1 part grated cinnamon, 1 part grated nutmeg/mace, 1 part ground cloves, 2 parts ground green cardamom, 2 parts sweet paprika, 2 parts cumin, and 2 parts ground coriander. This is a sweet garam masala blend and works really well for butter chicken, too! 9) Salt to taste. 10) Seal the container, then shake it, shake it, shake it. Do a little dance as you shake it, even. 11) Line a baking sheet with baking parchment paper, then dump the oily'n'spicy seeds on it. Spread'em. 12) Pop'em into the heated oven. Roast'em for around 25 minutes, turning the seeds occasionally. 13) When the seeds are a golden brown, yank'em. Cool'em. And please share your results. Recently, records of notable society members and their personal Okus tokens have surfaced including that of Baroness Angela Burdett-Coutts. .🍁🌞❄️🌱✨. She embraced the giving ethos of The Society of Luminaries, except when it came to her Okus: a hand-forged silver lobster made by her personal silversmith. In polite society, one would never select an Okus so large, but guests of her lavish Illimat gatherings dared not rebuff her.
