Jackie awkwardly hopped and wormed along between them.

The Doll Hospital was slightly awkward to get to, since it was a location that the player normally couldn’t return to during gameplay. The best way to reach it was through a security door in the south hallway that was blocked off and inaccessible to the player, but operational after hours. This led to a staircase that went downwards, all the way to the hospital…and this was the path that Fiona took, leading the way for her son and Jackie.

The most awkward part was shuffling down the stairs together, especially with David lagging behind a little... but finally, they made it to the Doll Hospital, where Dollie was zooming around on her track to clean up the cluttered halls.

Fiona waited by the stairwell, not wanting to walk in and risk anyone getting run over.

“Dollie?” she called. “You have a patient…!”

The clattering of Dollie's track paused for a moment.

"Oh my! Broken bits? We'll take care of them!"

Jackie moved forward a little, only for Fiona to nudge her back.

"Yes, Jackie seems to have detached her nose...again."

Hopefully she could get her to cooperate... and David to walk on his own again.

Fiona pulled back from David a little bit, and in a gentler tone of voice, she asked, "Will you help me take Jackie to see Nurse Dollie...?"

... After a moment, David nodded, though he still stayed relatively subdued.

With that, Fiona took one step away in order to take Jackie by the arm.

Fiona did so, tucking it into her skirt pocket. Then she nodded at David and asked, “Ready?”

David nodded softly, still clinging to Jackie's other arm.

“Then let’s go!”

Fiona began heading for the elevator, forcing Jackie to flop along if she didn’t want to lose her arm. It would take a while to get to that point, of course, since her arms were quite long…but there didn’t seem to be much point in resisting.

David toddled along as well, still holding Jackie's arm clumsily himself.

By this point, Jackie had managed to extricate herself from the pile of junk and flop her way over to them. "Don't be sad, David!" she exclaimed.

David looked up at her, still blubbering semi-hysterically.

Jackie had a few dings and scratches on her face, but she smiled up at him - well, she couldn't really form any other expressions, but the intention was clearly there.

"Don't be sad! Be happy!"

As she finished speaking, her nose fell off.

David paused, surprised into quiet for a moment.

Her nose...! It just...!

Jackie didn’t appear to notice until Fiona said, “Oh dear. Jackie, it looks like you may have played a little too hard…again.”

“Huh? Oh!” Jackie reached down for her nose and attempted to stick it back on her face. It fell off again immediately.

... David uttered a tiny little giggle, despite the lingering tremor in his voice.

Fiona stifled a sigh.

“You may have to visit Nurse Dollie to get that reattached…I suppose we can make that our next stop.”

At least they were planning to go there anyway... Hopefully she wouldn't be too busy with her cramped and cluttered space

He'd been... so scared...!

Fiona hugged him and extended her arm in order to rub his back.

"There, there..."

... The hiccupy sounds grew quicker... and swiftly evolved into wailing.

Fiona comforted and crooned to him as if he was still in a much smaller body, patting the white tiger costume.

"Mama is sorry she scared you, sweetheart...I am so sorry that I made you fall. But it is okay. No harm done, and you are safe..."

David's wails continued as she held him, and he clung to her in return.

Apology or no, he'd been scared pretty badly. And not just by her. Falling was startling to a child, whether they were actually hurt or not...

She jolted to a halt upon realizing that there was no one else in the room. "David?" she called, alarmed. "David?"

Her circuits coursed with anxiety. Images of toy balls gone astray and speeding cars ran unbidden through her head. The last time she'd left her son unsupervised... But no, surely this was nothing like that. She hadn't gone away for ages to make dinner and a cake. She'd only turned her back for a moment, but...!

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of thumping from down the hall. Both she and the DigiTyper turned towards the noise...and Fiona, suddenly having a very good idea of where her son might have gone, walked briskly out of the office and towards the Birthday Showroom.

Her circuits likely wouldn't get a break anytime soon, because by the time she had reached the Birthday Showroom, David was already precariously perched on top of the tallest tower in the room and stretching higher to reach the rafters. He giggled and giggled the entire time, delighted at the awkward chase, and completely oblivious to his mother's anxiety.

The whole time, Jackie was flailing around, her arms whipping back and forth without much coordination. Occasionally she'd scream one of her catchphrases - "Come get your birthday hug!" or "I found you!" - but mostly she just giggled.

Fiona clasped a hand over her chest, as if she had a heart to seize up. "David Edwin Murray, you come down from there this instant!"

David jumped, immediately intimidated by her sharp tone... and quickly began to wobble, crying out as he reached for a rafter to steady his balance again.

Unfortunately, with all that movement, he might just end up knocking things out from under his feet...

Fiona rushed forward, reaching upwards to catch him if he fell. Yes, he was big and heavy - but the Mimic bodies could lift catwalks and bend metal. She'd be able to take him.

Jackie also seemed to notice what was going on, and she flopped out her arms to steady both David and the pile he was standing on.

Wobble, wobble... and sure enough, something slipped out from under David's foot.

He started to tumble, throwing his hands up in a clumsy attempt to catch himself on anything he could reach.

Fiona stretched up as far as her body's flexion would allow, and sure enough, she caught him around the waist and managed to get him down to the ground relatively gently.

Jackie, on the other hand, lunged forward, but got her face bopped by something tumbling down, and she flopped to the floor.

David wailed at the impact, more out of fear than real hurt... Especially as the tower of junk continued collapsing.

Finally, everything settled... and David was left curled in on himself, hands stretched up to cover his oversized head as he trembled.
