Cream and Sugar || Rapunzel & Aquata
Rapunzel never expected that Valentine’s Day Morning would be such a busy time. Everyone and their mother’s thought it was such a romantic gesture to surprise their love with coffee and pastries. In a way it was but it certainly wasn’t original by the size of the line.
Because she was still relatively new, she was put to work with ‘for here’ customers. It was nice since not very many of them were staying and she could surprise them with pretty hear creams and silly messages written with chocolate messages.
Just because they didn’t have a Valentine’s it didn’t mean they didn’t deserve a treat.
"Sorry for the craziness. Who’da thought right? Uh what can I get for you?"
Valentine's Day. It was the worst holiday of the year, in Aquata's opinion. One whole day dedicated to love? Just no. A million times no. Perhaps she was bitter because of her relationship status. Maybe she was just being her grumpy self. Or both. Yeah, both was good.
She had a feeling her day would not be a good one. After all, there would be couples everywhere, smiling, laughing, and in love. The brunette was not excited, needless to say. Couldn't they take their happiness elsewhere? Apparently not.
Luckily, Aquata had no classes today. She did, however, have quite a bit of homework. One more year and she would be done with school, thank Neptune. The brunette wanted to be a journalist, and she would be a good one too, if school didn't kill her first.
"Oh, no, you're fine!" she reassured the waitress, setting her laptop off to the side for a moment. Aquata was being nice, which was odd considering her usually grumpy demeanor. "Yeah, okay, may I have an iced coffee -- no mocha or anything though, just plain -- and a chocolate chip muffin?"
At that exact moment, a couple in the corner shared a kiss. Aquata cringed. "Actually, scratch that. Can I have two chocolate chip muffins?"
"Well, I’m glad you don’t… that would be kind of odd if you did. Wait. Kingdom? So you’re a king? Oh, I am so sorry."
And with that, Aquata managed a curtsy that was anything but graceful.
He waved a hand for her to rise. ”Please. Don’t ever do that again. Yes I am a king. And you a princess woefully out of her element.”
"Um, okay..." She rose to her feet and clasped her hands behind her back. "So what are you a king of exactly? I mean, if you don't mind me asking..."
She sighed. "You could say that again... I'm Aquata, by the way. But you probably knew that too."

"Do you know everything or something?”
"Believe it or not I do not spend my time chasing after your family what with a kingdom to run." He shrugged a shoulder. "I have…allies in your element: the sea."
If Saleen talked one more time about that ‘red headed disaster’ of a princess, he might just end this new life carte blanche.
"Well, I'm glad you don't... that would be kind of odd if you did. Wait. Kingdom? So you're a king? Oh, I am so sorry."
And with that, Aquata managed a curtsy that was anything but graceful.
Outside of Aquata's door in the Royal Palace of Kysten was a small bouquet of roses, along with a box of Belgian chocolate, complete with a beautiful pink bow tied upon the top. The small note attached read, 'To the beautiful Princess Aquata, from your Secret Admirer.'
Aquata was not particularly fond of love, and on a holiday dedicated to love, it was very difficult to stay in a good mood. That was why she had spent a good portion of the day in her bedroom — until now, anyways. A slice of chocolate cake straight from the kitchen sounded heavenly just about now. Opening the door, her brown irises widened upon what she saw.
Roses. Chocolate. A note.
Hastily, she picked up the small bouquet and smelled the flowers. They smelled wonderful, of course, and she couldn’t wait to get her hands on the chocolate. But first, the note.
A secret admirer!? It was surreal. So… unbelievable. Aquata couldn’t hold back a smile. Maybe things were different now… maybe someone did care, after all.
"Mozenrath. What an interesting name. I, uh — wait. You know who my father is?”
"If he’s the father of Ariel than yes."
"Do you know everything or something?"
⚓ “Uh, well that’s good, I suppose? Thank you, Mister… whatever your name is?”
"Lord. Lord Mozenrath. And it would be just my luck if you were a daughter of Triton."
"Mozenrath. What an interesting name. I, uh -- wait. You know who my father is?"

A Sisterly Reunion || Aquata & Ariel
She couldn’t even imagine what Ariel was thinking, and she didn’t know if she wanted to either. The younger girl had gone through quite the ordeal with Ursula and it wasn’t fair to drag her into a similar situations. Aquata didn’t know what else to do though. She had not planned on telling Ariel anything, but now it was evident the redhead just might be the one she needed to be honest with. She understood. She could help. Hopefully.
"Adella wears it all of the time," she replied, thinking of the seashell-shaped pendant. It was a beautiful trinket; one that Aquata would’ve considered borrowing were she not aware of its magical qualities. "I can only assume it’s meant to be worn all the time because it’s always around her neck, from what I know." She had never asked about the necklace, simply because she didn’t want Adella to become suspicious.
Ariel’s question caused the brunette to shift in her seat. There were reasons for why she had kept everything a secret, though they may have not been good reasons. That didn’t matter though because they were her reasons and she didn’t know what else to do. “I — I can't,” she answered simply, her voice cracking under pressure. Aquata could feel the tears now. “I don’t know what Morgana has planned, I don’t want her to hurt Adella. She may have done a bad thing but that doesn’t mean she’s a bad mermaid. I can’t watch her get hurt. If anything were to happen, I’d take the blame.”
The tears were streaming down her face now. “I told her that I left because of Father…” And in a sense, that was apart of the truth. She and Triton did not have the best relationship,. They didn’t share opinions and he often ignored her in favor of Attina. She wiped at her eyes, attempting to rid of the tears but it was no use. They continued to stream like a waterfall.
Morgana was not one to keep things simple, if she had learned anything from her sister. Ursula had taken Ariel’s voice, after all, so it could only be assumed that something had been taken from Aquata as well. She could say whatever she wanted but in the end, it would be a lie. She was not okay. In fact, she ached and cursed because her legs hurt so badly. “Oh, Ari,” she spoke softly, voice barely above a whisper. “It hurts so bad. My feet and my legs. I feel like I’m walking on daggers.”
