RDR at the Railhead part deaux
Tons of fun is always to be had at the Railhead. This particular week it was Stoney LaRue and Sonny Burgess. The place was packed, as could be predicted. All of the musicians were great. However....
Stoney arrived three  hours late. And once he played the songs he could in the hour he had left, there was no time left for his newer songs, like Velvet or Look at me Fly, my personal favorites. I would have absolutely LOVED to hear Travelin Kind acoustically, but I was stuck with the old classics of Down in Flames and Oklahoma Breakdown at a free concernt. First world problems.Â
Stoney is a first class musician, making the guitar his bitch at all times. As a fellow guitar player, I envy him quite a bit. He was a very nice guy and signed a napkin for my 12 year-old sister, who made me go back in the autograph line twice. It felt like a cardinal sin.
Ahhh, Randy Brown. We've gotten to know Randy from coming up on Tuesdays and accidentally hanging out with him in the VIP section (more on that later). He's awesome as well. A clever songwriter who incorporates humor  and a use of homophones into his songs, such as Days are Numbered. He's also a doppleganger for my uncle, the drummer in Snuff Garrett.
Nuce and Randy are now on first name basis, and by first name basis I mean Nuce calls Randy, "Peckerhead" and Randy appropriately reciprocates, usually with "Asshole." It's a great relationship.
Justin Frazzell was friendly as ever. His voice still doesn't match his face to me, even after meeting him several times.
He's more attractive than his voice lets on, but we'll keep that one to ourselves ;).
