A genuine expression of concern appearing on his face yet an all too knowing gleam in his eyes. It wasn't long before the tophat adorned gentleman was bringing over a cup of tea to this rather disturbed stranger.
"Ah, yes...that." He grunted. "You must understand, we have to clean their smoke-boxes out somehow. To leave them closed, that would cause more harm than good! It isn't a comfortable sight to many, indeed, but trust me when I say that the engines are far more uncomfortable when that particular door of theirs has to be opened."

Always find it slightly funny having a muse like Topham on Tumblr and technically part of the RP community on here cause for many Sundays are known as "Sindays" and...well...

The two Sir Nigel Gresleys; A4 No. 4498 and the great locomotive designer himself. 4498 happened to be the 100th Pacific built to Gresley's designs, so someone at the LNER had the sense to name the locomotive after him. The locomotive is very much still with us and flies the flag for the A4 class as the currently sole working example.

Sir Topham Hatt blinked once or twice before he let out a rather deep, almost defeated sounding sigh.
"I have yet to even begin to comprehend how one singular engine can deplete the number of paint cans that he appears to on such a short basis." A hand shot up to grip his nose for a moment, a crease in his brows soon showing his slight irritation at the news. "...Not many of my engines besides him are red, let alone, that particular shade of red. Yet, I am ordering that color the most out of any of the other liveries!"
Another tick of a second passed and then the controller was spinning an apparently very familiar number into his trusty telephone.
