“Nope.” Emeline said, taking a small bite of her cereal. “It’s actually kinda cute.” The truth was that it was extremely cute and it made her feel all warm inside, but she wasn’t gonna day that. “How have you been doing?”

“I’ve been well. A bit stressed. Relocating is always a little stressful. Sooo that made me realize that I should learn to enjoy Midnight Falls more and I was hoping you’d show me around, let me buy you a drink. What do you say?” he had to remember to breathe as he waited for her answer.

Emeline pretended to mull it over for a second, but in truth she had an answer before he even finished what he was saying. “I say, that sounds perfect.” Emeline said, and she was happy he couldn’t see the dopey grin on her face. “Just a watering though: I get a little long winded about Celtius, and especially Midnight Falls.” She adored living here, and she was excited to show Ty around. It definitely had nothing to do with the fact that she thought he was cute.

Ty felt a flood of relief but tried not to let it show in his voice as he spoke. “That sounds great, and don’t worry, you can be as long winded as you like, I want to hear everything. You pick the time and place, and I’ll be there.”

“Saturday at four then?” Emeline asked, smiling to herself. “I work night shift Saturday so I’m kind of free all day if you want it earlier.” Emeline said, wondering how she got the luck to run into someone so nice.

"If you're free all day, then how about we make it one o'clock. That way we can grab lunch and see where the day takes us. And the extra time would be a bonus," he said, excited by the prospect of a whole day with Emeline.

Lighting a cigarette he looked at him. “What do you mean? They aren’t people, their beasts. Trust me. I’ve been here for a while they aren’t human.

“They might not be human but they’re still people. People who are capable of love compassion and fear, just like we are. When I was in Romania I was hunting a wolf pack. I managed to clip a young one with a wolfsbane arrow and I caught him. He turned back into a little boy and died in agony, he was terrified. I felt…regret about what I had done.”

He tilted his head looking at him. “Oh you poor soul. Have you gotten a heart or something?” Tony blew out his smoke. “I think you’ve just lost sight in what we’re doing…but hey. Do what you please, just don’t involve me with it. Because i know ridding the world of these monsters is what’s needed.”

“It doesn’t strike you as strange that the Lee sisters have come here? That in the states there are barely any hunters left because it’s being less and less accepted? It took me longer to open my eyes because of the hunter culture in Australia, but now that I’m here, I’m seeing things differently. I hope you will too.

Ty shook his head. "Trust me brother, I'm not weak. I've just started having second thoughts about it all. My strengths have not been diminished one bit. Don't you ever wonder if there's more to life than just killing?"

“I know!” He grabbed his brother by the shoulders and his face light up like a kid on Christmas morning. “Isn’t beautiful? I have so many pictures to show. I think I’m gonna win our little competition here, Ty.” He chuckled. “Oh! The Lee sisters are here too some where.”

“Addison is here?” Tyson said. He was not expecting that development by a long shot. “Wait, tell me about that later. So the breach was you. I suspected as much. Tony, I left Romania because I wanted to warn you. I don’t know if was a good idea for you to come here.”

Who the fuck else would be able to get through.” His eyes roll. “Ha! Your just upset because I beat you here. But hey, look I’ll give you a week. I promise I won’t kill any so you can play catch up a bit. That sounds fair.”

Ty didn’t know how to say all that he felt in a way that Tony would understand. Perhaps he never would. “Tony. I think this has all been a mistake. This game, our whole lives. I’ve been meeting these people. They’re not monsters they’re just people. I don’t think I can do it anymore.”

Calvin stretched big as he sat a the bar. “Alright one more round.” He slurred a bit and finished his beer before ordering another drink for himself

Tyson took a stool and signaled the bartender. “One scotch please, neat” he ordered, and turned to look at the other man. “So is this place ‘where it’s at’ as the kids say? I’m new in town.”

He looked over at him before picking up his drink. “You are one of those kids with that comment.” He said sipping his drink

Ty nodded and smiled. “I guess you’re right.” His drink arrived and he took a swig. “First time in Celtius. Looking to visit my brother. Thought maybe I would see him in here.” He looked at the other man. “You been in Celtius a long time mate?”

“Yep.” He said ordering a shot. “10 years now. Feels longer.” He hummed and looked over at him. “So who’s ya brother?”

Ty thought about it. He didn't want to give too much away, he thought his brother could be behind the breach but had to find him in any case. "He's just a couple years younger than me, looks like me a bit. Aussie accent, of course. Bit rough around the edges.”

“Elizabeta… erm… Eliza. Pleasure to meet you, Tyson.” She smiled, extending her hand. “I’m not a crazy person, Promise.”

Tyson chuckled. “No worries love, we all do what we must to survive the day.” He shook her hand. It was cold, and he wasn’t used to that so he had to remember not to pull his hand back too quickly. “So Eliza, I’m new in town. Where are to cool places to hang out?”

“Hmm? Oh… I’m sorry. I guess I was talking to myself. I apologize. Long day…. rough day.” She said with a shrug, hoping to not seem like a crazy person. “Gotta learn to leave work at work, right?”

“I think it may depend on the work, yeh? Sometimes we’ve got no choice and work is life. Not that I’m speaking from personal experience or anything.” Ty laughed. “I’m Tyson, nice to meet you.”

“I saw.” Emeline said with a small laugh. “Caller ID, remember.” She said, pushing her bowl of cereal away from her and turning down the volume on her tv. “What’s up?” Emeline asked, swinging her legs up to rest on her coffee table. “Any particular reason why you decided to call?”

“Wow, you don’t mess around do you,” he said. “Well, I called because I was thinking about you and about how lucky I was to bump into you. Is that lame?”

“Hello?” Emeline answered without even looking at the number calling her, crunching on the cereal she had put in front of her. She’d been eating breakfast and watching television when she received a call, and she picked up without hesitation. As she answered she looked at the contact information, and quickly swallowed her cereal. “I mean- hey, what’s up?” Truth be told she’d been thinking about the Ty since she met him, probably because of his accent. It had been taking her mind off of the breach though, which was always nice.

When she answered Ty quickly cleared his throat, he was half expecting the call to go to voicemail. “Ahem. Oh. Hi! Emeline? It’s Ty from the other day. How are you?” He cringed, he felt he was being so awkward.

Ty heard the woman say something. They were in line at the bakery where Ty was waiting for his breakfast. She may have been talking to herself, but he wasn’t sure. He turned to her.

“Hi, sorry...did you say something?”

Ty couldn’t get the pretty brunette out of his head. He paced back and forth in his flat, staring at Emeline’s entry in his contacts. He had much bigger things to worry about but he just couldn’t stop thinking about her. After about ten minutes of this, he finally hit send. It started ringing and his heart speed as us he waiting for her to answer, or to get send to voicemail.

“Fine, go on,” she said. She was pretty sure that this guy wasn’t involved with anything that had happened, but she really hoped she wasn’t making a mistake in letting him just walk away. “Keep your head down and be careful.”

“Ok, um thanks,” Ty said as he headed off. He paused and looked back to the woman. “I’m sorry this happened to you,” he said, and walked away.

Ty stepped outside of the little flat he had rented. It was small and didn’t have much comfort but he didn’t plan on being there a lot as he tried to find his brother. Tried to find Tony before too much more damage was done. After all his life hunting, now he was having doubts. They always told him they didn’t have feelings like humans, but now he has seen that that was all a lie. He had to do something. He squinted in the sun as he put on his jacket and started walking, not sure where to start.

“You know.” He started walking up behind the other male. “If I knew you were in town I would have come to find you a lot sooner.” Tony said pushing his hair back. “You know you do have a phone….could have called or something.”

When Ty heard his brother's voice he turned around quickly. "Jesus Tony," he took a deep breath, he was relieved to find him ok. "I've just got to town yesterday. I wasn't sure what the situation was. And sure enough the whole place is on high alert."
