"Well ain't that sweet." Tyler said, almost a tad bit bitterly. However, that was only because it reminded him of his situation. "That's brave of you. I did the same thing, and I got dumped like two months ago. Packed up my whole life, even brought my mother with me to start a new life with this chick, and here I am." He raised his glass of water, as well as his brows and shook his head. "Anyways, you been here long? Or brand new as well?"

“I don’t really regret a lot of things in my life. I live life simply, as it is. However, if you must know, I do have one major regret. And that is lying and keeping secrets from the love of my life, that I have now lost. I guess life can come back and bite you in the ass. Hope my answer satisfies you.”

Turning her attention to the person who had come up beside her, she squinted her eyes a little and then looked around the area before returning her gaze to him. “What? No, I am having the absolute time of my life, could you not tell. I swear, anymore excitement being had from me and people are going to think I’m too much and gone a little too far,” she let out with a sigh and then shrugged, her eyes rolling as she took a sip of her drink. “Honestly, this thing is a disaster.”

He chuckled lightly at her response. “Why are you having such a bad time? Why not go out and mingle? Like this. Hi, I’m Tyler. Wanna dance?” He asked as he extended a hand out to her, and raised one brow as he smirked at the woman. “Can’t be that much boring now, can it?”

“Yes I’m a professional tattoo artist and a spider monkey!” They cheered as they soared on his muscular back. “I love water!” Luna exclaimed with excitement. But as soon as they crashed into the waves the tattoo artist yelled out as their body was hit with the icy still. Their body went flying in front of Tyler as they submerged into the water. When Luna came up for air. pushing their body through the surface of the water, they looked up and saw Tyler’s hair pressed back and heard his comment. “I see what did there,” Luna smirked their lips. “Nah, I’m not upset!” They laughed, amused. “Well i’ve been here two months,” They confessed. “And I came for a change of pace,” Luna explained.

Tyler laughed at the other’s joke. “That’s a pretty cool combination right there.” As he finally pushed his hair back, he looked over at Luna. “Two months? I beat you by a month. And don’t be stealing my words. I came here for the same reason, but it backfired on me.” He admitted. “So you tattoo at the local shop? I gotta see your work. I’ve been thinking of getting a new piece soon.”

“That just might be what solidifies our friendship. Us being newbies in town.” She teased with a nod. “That makes sense. I guess friends aren’t for everybody. You have those select few and that’s all you  need. You can mind your own business and have friends though.” She said before nodding, “Exactly. Drinking alone in your own home isn’t bad. But sometimes if you go to the bar alone, people give you the weirdest looks or like you’re prey.” She chuckled, her head shaking. “A drink it is.” She laughed as the wave covered him, ducking under it herself. She smiled wide, “You surf? I’ve done it like twice and it was fun but man, all that falling hurts your pride.”

“You only get looks like that because you’re a woman. It’s perfectly fine for a man to go have a drink by themselves. Then again, they’re usually the ones hunting women down like prey.” He joked. “I guess we can chill in the water for a bit more, and then go have some drinks.” He raised a brow at he comment about her surfing before. “You can surf too? My lucky day. Well, I’m part Samoan, and I lived in San Diego, so it’s a given that I surf. It’s in my blood.” He shrugged and laughed. “I can always teach you how to get better. If you want.”

It was times like these that reaffirmed Morgan’s loosely-held belief that the universe hated her, and was truly out to get her. He couldn’t come to her house. She’d lock the door and pretend not to be in. She knew he wouldn’t resort to risky behaviour if there was even the slightest chance of getting busted up in the realm of possibilities. Tyler may be drunk, but he wasn’t stupid. Except…the brunette was aware that she couldn’t hide away from this any longer. It was easy to fool herself into believing she was moving beyond him the longer time passed from the moment she cut contact with him altogether. She had a good niche of friends, a job she loved and hell, Robert (the friendly feline) even contributed positively to the agonising process of learning to be single and alone again. 

The nights however, tested her. The scabs on the still-fresh wounds would be ripped off viciously when darkness took its hold, leaving her alone and consumed by her thoughts. Morgan wasn’t the type of girl to wear her heart on her sleeve - her heart was guarded and concealed in the deepest crevices of her chest. But she had laid it out for Tyler like a damn offering to take and do with as he pleased. She had loved him. As much as she fiercely denies it out loud, she still does. Which quite frankly scares her more than anything, that she cannot break this hold he has on her. That his words sink into the raw wounds and get beneath the inner, protective layers of skin, leaving her feeling vulnerable and helpless. She despised it with every inch of her being. She detested that such a simple remark as being branded ‘heartless’ by him left her in tears with bloodshot eyes and snivelling like a child. 

With bated breath, she waited for him in the hallway near the door. The last thing she needed were her roommates to reach it first and be greeted with a very drunken ex-boyfriend of hers. Her eyes were faintly red around the rim of them, accentuating the forest green of her irises. When the knock on the door echoed, Morgan’s hand drew for the handle immediately, pulling it open. Her other hand reached out, fisting his shirt and dragging him in. She didn’t need a scene to be made in front of her roommates. Wordlessly, she moved him into the living room and slammed the door behind her. She released her vice-like grip and turned to face him. Seeing that stupid face, inhaling the overwhelming stench of alcohol….she saw red. “You shouldn’t be here. You can’t–what the hell are you doing, Tyler?”

Tyler was never one to get belligerently drunk, but ever since Morgan had left him, his life started falling apart. All this time she had been his rock. The one person who was able to hold him down, while the rest of the world turned to shit. Which is why he had regretted lying to Morgan for the majority of their relationship. But he had to. He had to keep her safe, and he knew if she found out.. Well, she did find out. Tyler had ended up telling her all his secrets, and his biggest fear became a reality. She left him. She left him the moment they arrived to a new town. A new place where he knew no one. A place where he could possibly start fresh with her, but she refused to. So now there he was. Walking the streets of Wilmington, drunkenly trying to find his way to Morgan’s new place. As his paced hurried as he neared her place, he stumbled slightly. He probably shouldn’t have came here, but it was too late now.

Lightly he knocked on the door, not wanting to wake anyone up. Luckily for him, he didn’t have to wait long, because Morgan was waiting for him at the door. Before he could even get a word out, he was being dragged inside. Stumbling he finally made it to where Morgan wanted him to be. Again, before he could even speak, she was hissing at him. Questioning why he was there or how he could do such a thing. All he could do was stare at her. He smiled at her, instead of getting upset. She was always adorable when she was mad. Daringly, he brought a hand up to her cheek and caressed it. “I missed you.” He finally croaked out. Breath smelling of pure alcohol, but words full of sincerity. “Please don’t make me leave. I walked all this way to see you. I know you hate me, but I can’t just let you go. Not without a fight. A battle that I’ve been fighting for three months now.” He stared into her eyes. “I love you, Morgan. Can’t you see that? I know that I screwed up, but I’ve tried everything to get you to forgive me. I gave you space, but clearly that didn’t work. Please.” At his last words, his eyes began to water. Maybe it was the alcohol, but Tyler was horrible at showing his feelings, maybe tonight would be different.

“Thank you,” They smirked at the man and did a small twirl around. “Ah I put it on every morning to be honest. You never know when you’ll wanna hit the beach. Either way, bathing suits are so close to underwear it really doesn’t matter,” Luna explained and gave a simple shrug of their shoulder as they walked farther to the beach. “Wearing shorts in this fucking weather is a good thing to do,” They said with open eyes turning to face the other for a moment. Luna turned away and wrapped their arms around their back carelessly, “I don’t know… I wouldn’t mind,” They played it off and gave a daring smirk back at him. “I haven’t been opposed to skinny dipping in my past.” Daring, one perfect word to describe the person that was Luna. “I appreciate it,” They said putting their head down for a moment. “My mother always had a love affair with the moon. Maybe that’s why my father left her,” Luna said off handedly and pursed their lips together.  “Nice to meet you Tyler,” They said looking back at him and away from the ocean. They were taken aback by the moment exchanged that the idea of a ran caught them off guard. After realizing what was happening Luna quickly darted to the beach, hot sand burning their feet as they scurried across its trenches. “I’m here!” Luna yelled jumping forcibly onto Tyler’s back as soon as they caught up.

As soon as Tyler reach the shore, he felt someone jumping on his back. He faltered slightly on his stance, but managed to keep his balance. “You’re a spider monkey now?” He asked as he held the other on his back. Making sue they didn’t fall on their rear end. “Hope you’re ready for the water.” He said, as he darted again towards the water, and crashing into a wave. Sending both of them into the warm water. As he emerged, he looked around for the other, and laughed. “I figured I’d lighten up the mood by darting off back there. Don’t need your pretty face getting upset.” He said, as he pushed his hair back. One thing about being a male with long hair, was that it was a pain whenever it got wet. “So what brought you here to little old Wilmington? Actually, how long have you even been here for?”

“Well, that makes you no longer a newbie..I need somebody to take that title from me.” She teased before she raised her eyebrows. “Why don’t you care to find friends?” She asked before she waved a hand, “You don’t have to answer that, sorry.” She said quickly, shrugging. “It’s not so bad. I’ve had worse experiences. But I enjoy having friends. People I can drink with or swim with. You know, the simple things.” She admitted with a shrug of her shoulders. She felt his eyes on her and smirked to herself. “It is cliche but I”ll take it. It’s a pleasure to meet you as well. My new friend and my first friend here. That calls for a celebration! How does a drink after swimming sound?” She replied with a grin as she noticed the wink.

“Nah, I’m still a newbie. We can share that title.” As he smiled at her, he shrugged. “Never really been one to care for friends. Sure, I had some back home, but I’m so busy with work, and other things. I just mind my own business.” He nodded at her response. “Having someone you can share a drink with is always nice. Hence why I’ve been drinking on my own lately, can’t really find loyal people to share a drink with.” He answered truthfully. “Talk about drinks.” He chuckled, referring to his last comment. “A drink with a pretty girl? How could I ever deny that? I’m down.” As soon as he replied, a wave came and covered him. The moment it passed, he emerged and pushed his hair back laughing. “Should’ve brought my surf board.”

“I think there are a lot of smaller places with good food. Little places are sometimes the best.” They said with a shrug before nodding and looking over at the waitress who greeted them. “I’ll have uh, a slice of pizza with mushrooms on it and water.” They said to her before looking back at the man across from him. “I’m Casper. Nice to meet you.” They said as they shook his hand briefly.

“Casper, huh? I’m not gonna make the friendly ghost joke because I’m sure you’re pretty tired of hearing that already.” He said with a slight chuckle. “You liked mushrooms? I can’t seem to find a liking for them. They’re way too chewy for me.” He took a sip of his tea once the waitress brought their drinks, and cleared his throat. “So what brings you to this little town?”

Tyler: Moon of My Life… Please, please forgive me. I don’t know how many nights I have fallen asleep crying after you left me. I am lost without you. You were the light of my life. Still are. My sun, and my stars. I can’t do this without you. Yes, I know I fucked up big time, but I was so afraid of losing you. I knew that if I kept it under control, and ended it before things got worse, we would be okay, but I was wrong. As Tyler was out taking a smoke break, he observed a woman walk next to him, as she began smoking as well. Tyler was not one to smoke often, but lately, stress had gotten the best of him. “Great observation, sweet heart. You’re right. I haven’t. Wanna fix it?” He looked over to the woman next to him, and smirked at her.

“I mean, it’s not entirely fake. Still has my name and the right information. It’s just totally a little misleading in the one tiny number on the year I was born.” She grinned, laughing - she won a poker game and she made a deal that they could keep the money if they made her a fake ID; and they did a bang up job. “Totally not my fault you’re like practically a giant. Besides, ants are total bamfs, ya know? They’re as old as dinosaurs, which is super cool. And like..they’ve conquered nearly the entire globe and one species is totally found on six different continents. Plus, they totally monopolize at least fifteen percent of the terrestrial animal biomass. At least, which totally means it goes up to and over twenty-five percent.” She stuck her tongue out again as a ‘so there’ gesture, but she laughed it off. She couldn’t even remember why she knew this, but she was probably curious about the statistics revolving around insect population at some point.

“Because my friend’s totally working or something? And I think my home’s like just down the pier? I haven’t decided yet.” She stood up and wiped the sand off, standing up next to the man, hands on her hips, attempting to make herself bigger.

“I guess I won’t call the cops on you, since it only has one miss typed number. I’m sure they’ll overlook that.” He gave her a small wink. As the girl in front of him began talking about ants, all he could do was raise a brow in a ‘what the fuck is going on’ look, as she kept rambling. Once she was finished, Tyler couldn’t help but to let out a good long laugh. “Oh Lord. You poor child, you might be more drunk than you think. Who spends their time googling about ants?” He asked as he still kept laughing. He had to admit though, that random burst of knowledge information was kind of attractive. He shook his head, and ran a hand down his face. “Quit sticking your tongue out. You still look like a child, and I’m...” Before he could finish his sentence, he gave it a second thought. He decided on not finishing it, because it was totally inappropriate. “Anyways, what do you mean you haven’t decided where your home is?“

“I am so not drunk enough for this boring ass party,” Danika muttered as she looked around the area, still deciding what on earth possessed her to even come, but her friend had begged her and she finally gave in. Still it was a stupid decision because it was her night off work and she was here, bored out of her damn mind, wishing someone would save her or that something interesting would happen.

Tyler wasn’t one for parties, but he had overheard about it this one, and figure he’d probably swing by. With any luck, he’d finally run into Morgan again. However, no such luck yet on his end, just like he had imagined. As he grabbed a drink from the bar, he scanned the room only to land on a woman that seemed more uncomfortable than having a good time. He raised a brow, and took a gulp of his drink. As he kept eyeing the woman, he realized she was here by herself, and looked like she wanted some saving. He shrugged his shoulders to himself, and made his way over to her. “Not really enjoying the party are you?” He asked, as he took another sip of his drink.
