It’s too bad there are no more 

sacred mountains to climb, 

forest monsters to slay 

or journeys of solitude 

into wilderness take.

No one can tell when exile actually ends--

how do you catch fleeting emotion in a net?

or describe the beautiful pause 

that punctuated your life, 

when, all they expect is regret? 

Are there words in the soul-song 

that kindred spirits sing?

or music 

in the joy that 

holding hands, brings 

Only when you come back 

from the dead, 

are you fully alive,

recognize those in your tribe--

ancient souls, by an invisible thread, tied 

And, when the period of unknown

is an un-ending dark fright 

blink together like fireflies,

and light up the night.
