The feelings Yin awakened inside of Hei were no longer a surprise, most often times a mixture of worry and love; it is no different now. His muscles protest and yet he moves, one arm behind her knee and the other behind her shoulders.
Taking care of Yin is ingrained inside of him, it’d be the last thing he’ll do before he dies and her need and comfort come before his he is a little slower than usual when he lifts her but his pace is quick and light as he retreats back to their hide out.
“Hang on a little longer,”
He can’t fully protect her from the rain but he tries, especially to cover up her wounds with his body and arms. He journeys as much as possible closest to the containers to shield at least one side from the rain and arrives in record time back at the hotel they’re staying at.
Even then he refuses to let go of her until they’re standing in the bedroom, water dripping in a pool around them and he sets her carefully down again.
There were no objections as Hei swooped her up into his arms. Her frail frame easily lifted by the contractor, her weight nothing in his arms. Though, she could feel the delay in what was usually so simple for him. Yin could have walked. She almost wanted to speak up and stop him from this unnecessary trek. But she didnt. Instead she quietly sat there, perched in his arms. Plus the close contact soothed her.
During the walk, she noted the coverage he was providing her. How the rain was robbed from her. One of her hands then lifting out, open towards the sky. Her palm feeling the cold drops and collecting them. Yin enjoyed it. Her medium was all around her. Letting her specter freely roam. This is when she could see Hei the most.
Once they returned to the room and he finally set her down, she didnt move. Not daring to turn or walk away from him. Keeping herself near him. Knowing he was in pain made it hard for the doll to put distance between them.
“Thanks..”
Those words coming from a doll would made no sense to anyone else but Hei, specifically Yin. He doesn’t bother questioning her further, instead takes to setting more comfortable in the booth with the little space he has; making sure Yin doesn’t slide off.
“Are you at ease now?” He asks and reaches for the milkshake that July had ordered and sips from it.
Feeling him shift beneath her made her stiffen up for a moment. Her body then relaxing again once she noticed it was her comfort. She guessed he didnt want her to leave. Besides, it was safe here. They could relax like this. Yin leaned against him more, getting comfortable too.
“Yea.” Her head then slowly nodding. She was.
#{ I need an otp tag for hei and yin. :/ } Yeah get on it
I ‘M T RY I N G
@typykka
After he watches July leave with the— Graham guy for a milkshake he turns his head to look at Yin. “What was that? Do you want the Syndicate to catch wind of us because a town saw a man with a woman and boy sitting in his lap?” He’s not angry, simply confused as to why two dolls would take a seat in his lap.
“Why were you jealous?”
No, that wasnt what she wanted at all. Honestly, she wasnt thinking when his claimed the comfort of his knee. Yin just acted. That was puzzling to her. The doll shifted a little on his lap, now wondering if she should leave it.
“Not sure...” She started, turning her head slightly from his own. “.. It just looked like a place I should be.. not him.”
He was tired. And yet the Syndicate did not stop, the Contractors kept coming. This time they had targeted Yin, a fatal mistake. He doesn’t take pleasure in killing his enemies but when the enemy Contractor had pushed and shoved Yin something inside of him had snapped.
There are holes in his coat, the mask is still in place by some miracle and he is focusing on calming down his breath when he hears her voice. Weary eyes glance up, watching her through his mask and even if she can’t see he smiles.
“Let’s go back.”
Only after his words leave his lips does he notice the blood; a scowl forms on his face and he’s up in an instant. “Are you hurt? Can you walk?” The questions keep coming as he towers over her, shielding her from the rain.
“Okay..”
Upon hearing his first order, Yin pulled away from him a little. Instantly turning in the direction of the safe house. The doll unmoving until the taller male should pass her. She would wait patiently for him. And maybe get the chance to take hold of his hand again. Her eyes then blinking as he stepped in front of her. Without the rain dripping on her face, she looked up at him. Blinking with a light confusion. Was she hurt?
“Yes... She can walk..”
Yes, she was hurt. And it was painful. But as a doll, it wasnt programmed into her to show it. Sure there was a sharp sting with each step- But it was something she could bare, therefore is considered it minuet. It was odd that he was so worried about it. The last thing she wanted to do was worry him. Lifting an arm, she then reached out and gripped his coat. Trying to comfort him.
“I am fine, Hei..”
@niimaruichi
Finally, she had caught up to him. She was only able to do so, due to the rain pouring down all around him. Making his path crystal clear to her. Running wasnt something normal for a doll to do on their own accord, it was something she had to adapt since the Syndicate started chasing them. Run, hide and return to Hei. It was a pattern she was getting very accommodated too.. --But. This battle wasnt an easy one. Not even the doll herself couldnt escape injury; her knees scuffed and a gash on her arm. That gash would have been through her chest if Hei hadnt been there.
“... Hei.”
Her tone was soft yet firm. The rain drenched doll vaguely looked in his direction. Viewing his bench over frame. She could tell he was hurting.. it was clear these battles were wearing him down. Sure, she was hurt and sore as well but it wasnt in her to knowledge the given pain. All that mattered right now was him. Her brows knitted slightly, approaching him more. Hands lifting to touch against his shoulders. How could she help?
“No-- ..” Her answer was quick and easy. The doll sure of her feelings.. or so she thought. Why did she feel the need to sit here as well? Maybe she was jealous. Either way she couldnt really put her finger on it.
“.... maybe.”
@typykka & @ggarasu
“Dig in, there is plenty for all.” All except November 11.
“Thanks..” The answer was short and simple just like her tastes; a bowl of rice would do. That also being what was closest to her.
It's fine.
Those his word did calm her, her brows remained knitted. Did she upset him? Disappoint him? Something about that idea unsettled her. Made her chest feel tight. Without even thinking about it, she reached out for his hand. Gripping it tightly. A strong meaning in her touch.
so much for me moving heaven and earth to save you
“I’m.. sorry..”
niimaruichi: Hei is going to accidentally zap July
niimaruichi: ""accidentally""
typykka: snorts--- WHY??
niimaruichi: because
niimaruichi: accidents happen 👀
❛oh darling, by all means.❜ there was a brief pause however. ❛i’ll get you all the water you should need, just not yet. things aren’t prepared you see. we’ll need a few more moments and then i’ll oblige. ❜
and then slim brows furrow; perplexed he tilted his head slightly, ❛partners? my dear you are merely a means to an end. a doll, a puppet for him to use. why, he’s probably already moved on, forgotten about you.❜ there was no cruelty to his tone, it was flat. not that he cared for her feelings, she was void of them. wasn’t she?
however if he truly felt that way then why was he using the young one as bait to lure in his prey. how odd.
She would accept that answer and not fight it. Usually, she would nod to show her agreement yet she found herself still. Unable to to perform the simple notification. Instead, her brow tensed. The delay in finding her keeper unsettling her slightly.
Hearing his next statement finally summoned a response from the doll. Forcing her brows to knit even more so. Those words somewhat troubled her and brought a foreign pain in her chest. Her head now shaking left and right to him; He was wrong. She would be so bold to correct him.
“--- No....... No.”
“We’re partners.” This time her voice was firmer.
continued from here.
Tightly. That was the proper adjective for the manner in which his fingers clutched the bottle. Thin knees shifted beneath the warm wool of his cloak, pressing the base of the tinted glass against his belly as his eyes traced the lines of age, of wear and tear along the old oak floor. He could see him now, from the broad expanse of the windshield of his sports car. She could see him too, he assumed—through the bottle of water resting in the cup-holder at his side. Glassy irises rose from the dark wood, finding her pale skin as the dark lace of her dress cut against her neckline. ❝ …Are you looking for him? November 11? ❞
“.. Yes.”
The answer was short and soft. Her head would now pick up or turn towards him. Her body would remain still, staring into the nothingness in front of her. Eyes dull and unfocused. Oddly, no matter how motionless she was there always seemed to be ripples in the water.
There her specter was; In the remains of the plastic water bottle. She wasnt too far behind July in finding him. It just seemed his medium was more practical in this case. Doing her best to be inconspicuous, she scanned the car and surroundings. Yin did not want to inform the contractor of her presents. But she knew it would be inevitable--- All she could do was gather as much data as she could in the allotted time.
“Hei--- 38 kilometers west.. On a highway. Red car.”
Her voice now firmer, she spoke up into the small microphone in her head piece. Her connection to Hei. Feeding all the information she could to him. Her line to November about to be cut as the contractor lifted the bottle and discarded it out the window. She would have to find another way to him.
With knowing that she accepted his answer he takes his leave; follows the same path that brought him here in the first place, this time nothing holds him back as he walks. There had been a gas station close by and while he usually would get what was best for them- for her, it will have to do. Old habits die hard and Hei ends up spending more on food than he would have liked.
Sandwiches and other snacks to tame their hunger at least during the night. The newspaper of that day is what catches his attention as last, something to keep him occupied while eating and pays in cash. It takes no more than half an hour to return to the small house and for Hei to knock on the door, waiting for her to open it again.
There she would sit; still and tranquil. Her fingers lightly lace and laying in her lap. Ankles crossed, her back straight with perfect posture; Unmoving. Almost resembling a stone statue instead of a doll. The only thing that would give her away was the gentle rise and fall of her chest and the rare blink.
Hearing the knock, Yin didnt move at first. She wouldnt lift from her chair until the knocking was completed. A simple knock would summon no interest from the girl, only the knocking pattern of Hei would cater a response. Hearing the familiar rhythm complete, Yin stood. The doll the leisurely walking over to the door, her hand lifting and clutching the lock. Turning it until an audible click was heard. Then she would open the door.
“.. Hei.”
