Good evening, Hufflepuffins!
The meeting tonight went beautifully and we came up with a lot of really great ideas! While the focus in these next few weeks will, of course, be the Yule Ball, here are a few things that are hopefully on the horizon:
We discussed volunteering at the local animal shelter. This seems like an easy group activity which seems very Hufflepuff to me. Back in Memphis I volunteered at the Humane Society where we were able to walk the dogs, "socialize" (aka cuddle and play with) the dogs and cats, etc. and this sounds like much the same idea. Very fun service work for sure!
Pinterest Craft Night: We discussed working on diy and craft type things as a house and maybe selling them around campus for money to donate to a charity. This sounds fun and easy plus it could be a great way for us to get to know each other a little better!
Acceptance Letters: This is a fantastic idea that I think we should definitely work on especially around the holiday season. The idea is that we make really legitimate looking Hogwarts acceptance letters and let people have us deliver them to their friends or loved ones for a few dollars. We could deliver them to their classes or dorms or wherever and we'd just walk up to the person, say, "You're a wizard, (person's name)!" and run off. Hilarious. I love it.
PSA: This is more of a way to raise awareness about the HPA than to raise money for charity. Raising awareness does certainly need to be one of our priorities. The idea here is that all official clubs on campus get free radio airtime and that we could use this to make little HPA public service announcements and get the word out. We could have a different one for each house and have them alternate and even have a general one for the whole club. Definitely needs to be a focus and its a great opportunity for us to all get creative on what we might want our house's PSA to sound like.
Poster Designing Contest: This could be another fun way to get the word out about our amazing club. Just have people come up with cool poster ideas and, again, these could be house specific and then have other ones for the whole club. Maybe the best designs for the posters could earn the person house points?
Butter beer Cupcakes: Maddie said that she might be able to get her hands on a recipe for good butter beer cupcakes. This needs to be a priority no matter through what outlet we use it. Making them for the Yule Ball? Selling them? Baking them as a house in just a baking night to bond and get to know each other? No matter what, that sounds delicious and we need to check that out.
We also talked about teaming up with Bailey, the lovely Gryffindor head of house, as she is the one working on rigging up the floating candles for the Yule Ball.
Okay, those are some of the things we talked about tonight and I'm really interested in hearing what you all have to say about those and any other ideas you have. So, I was thinking we could all meet up as a house and get to know each other this Friday maybe around 1:00? In the Starbucks at the Ferg?
