Howdy, weary traveler to my corner of the great wide universe. I'm a little corvid who brings trinkets of art every couple of months and occasionally yaps about my interests.
At last, the mini comic is complete! Thanks again to the wonderful @fishbonetrombone for writing Miles from Nowhere. This comic is based on a scene from the fic. I especially can't get over when Jake is referred to as the "angry boy". It makes me giggle so hard. Definitely go read it if you haven't already.
Transcript:

Steven: Do you want to play a game?

Steven: Do you want to read?

Steven: Are you sad?
Marc: ...
Steven: We can just be sad.

["... there's no noise but Steven hears something. Marc does too."]
Steven: He's here.
[Marc nods]
Steven: He's sad. Let's bring him up.
Marc: No.
Steven: It'll be better to be sad together than be sad alone.

Jake: GO AWAY!

Steven: Will you come be sad with us?
Marc: Please?

Steven: Will you stay?

Steven: I can tell you how they make mummies later.
Marc: It's cool. And gross.
["Later on, they're going to laugh about brains coming out of a nose."]
["Right now, they lie in silence, being sad together."]
Here’s some Khonshu/Bird doodles based off the descriptions from the fic Miles from Nowhere by @fishbonetrombone . I really adore Bird from this fic. He’s such a goober hanging out with the boys. I hope I did him justice.
Reveal Time!
Based on a scene from one of my fav moon knight fics, Miles from Nowhere by @fishbonetrombone, I'm nearly finished with this little comic wip. Besides some monochrome color and finishing touches to go, I'm excited to share the results with everyone so here's a little preview!
Concepts for my Priest of Khonshu!Steven Grant + plus some mister knight practice
Pretty heavily inspired from the 2023 annual outfit. I think I'm gonna play with the silhouette some more but thought this design was a good starting point.
1. Beauty Marks right below their left eye because I can and they're cute.
2. Hair - Steven and Marc haven't really changed hairstyles too much from child to adult whereas Steven likes to keep a symmetrically skewed part. Marc prefers to keep his slicked back like I assumed is required of Marines. Jakey is where the most change occurs where he had a rather messy style as a kid but similar to Marc keeps it back with maybe a curl falling in front of his face. More reasons for this provided below.
3. Eyes - Steven has tired eyes because I still think he has sleep issues that persist after the show. (I means this would be visual on all three of them so let's assume this is more prominent when they're separated in their headspace). Regarding Jake, though I think giving Jakey darker or red tinted eyes makes an artistically interesting trait, I prefer not giving him this trait, as I'm not the most in love with some implications it may come with tying it to him being the "evil" one (which I don't claim other artists/writers are explicitly doing this to draw that connection as again I can see the artistic reason being red eyes are cool and mysterious). I just feel like I need to work extra hard in defending Jake from the "evil" alter depiction, when let's be honest neither the show nor the comics really seem to help with at times. I'm just a bit more sensitive to this given my own experiences with a mental condition and how they're often unfairly portrayed in media. (JAKE'S A SWEETHEART, I LOVE HIM VERY MUCH.)
Autistic Traits:
I believe it was stated in an Interview that Oscar Isaac played Steven based on folks with Autism and though we rarely see any explicit traits displayed from Marc and Jake, if Steven has autism, Marc and Jake would also express certain traits with varying degrees of being able to mask them. So the following are some of the traits I think Marc and Jake would have:
1. Marc has safe foods, particularly plain chicken breast. He's probably the health buff and gym bro of the system, so he says he likes chicken plain because it's quick to cook and cost efficient but really it's just his favorite.
2. Jake has trouble with eye contact. Going back to my points made on hair differences, before the flat cap, Jakey wore his hair a little more messily compared to Steven allowing their hair to fall on their forehead so that he's more easily able to avoid eye contact with other people.
However, Steven was a huge fan of forehead kisses as a kid and he'd give one to each of them either in their headspace or through the mirror before they went to sleep. Hence, for the greater good, Jakey keeps his forehead readily available while using his flat cap when eye contact becomes too difficult.
3. As adults Marc and Jake are far more able to mask their traits than Steven.
Warlock Pact
Moonknight is the definition of a warlock and since I'm a dnd nerd I've decided he needs more Moon related pact powers.
1. MOON GRAVITY - Moonknight displayed some feats of strength throughout the show, but I theorize it could just as easily be subtle gravity manipulation instead. Some examples provided below
Decreasing his body's gravity would allow him to jump from building to building easier.
Increasing the gravity/mass of his fists in order to punch harder.
Decreasing the gravity of others in order to be able to lift/throw them.
I also just really like the idea that Steven stuck in his Mr.Knight suit rockets down to Earth is finally able to reach ground safely by decreasing the overall gravity on his body, moon gravity, y'know. (Physicists don't come at me if it's inaccurate..... Actually do, I like hearing about facts.)
2. Khonshu's help/Priest of Khonshu!Steven - Khonshu's needed to assist on higher feats of magic like turning back the sky and when Marc had to jump into the sky in order to glide down in episode 6. Though as low level warlocks in the series, through time and experience, I like the idea that they gain more abilities like the one's we see in Marvel Rivals and Steven's able to properly master this independently of Khonshu.
3. Connected to Steven's sleeping problems, I think he's able to have visions the longer they stay as Moonknight and if Marc and Jake did have powers, they'd be different from one another. Generally, I like the idea that the powers relate to the person like how Hunter's Moon would be better able at healing people magically because of his experience as a doctor.
I've been thinking about Moon Knight and reading further into his lore so the following are some of my personal head canons as to what I can both feasibly and not feasibly see in the MCU, most of which truthfully revolve around everyone's favorite Brit, Steven Grant.
In the comics, Steven Grant is the system's financial provider and movie director so to bring some of these elements back into the MCU, I think it makes the most sense that MCU Steven Grant would become an established writer.
Some Further Details:
- I believe that on top of reading Steven Grant would be super into writing about his Egyptian mythology interests and following the events of Moon Knight Season 1, he would also use it as an outlet to cope.
- I can see Andrea Sterman, Moon Knight's Therapist in the comics, recommending and talking to him about this.
- Originally, Steven isn't all too convinced his novels will ever really go anywhere as it's primarily just a way for him to be creative but it unexpectedly blows up in the mainstream and movie directors line up to give him a lot of money for movie rights.
- The plot of the books would follow a similar tone to that of the Percy Jackson series but utilizes Egyptian Mythology and the Gods of the Ennead. Additionally, instead of the child of gods being the focus, the series would follow teenagers who were instead chosen to be avatars of gods like in the show.
- The novels will follow a main character that has been chosen to be an avatar but not necessarily been chosen by a particular god. In a similar vein to the Percy Jackson Series, the main character isn't too jazzed about the prospects of needing to deal with apathetic at best, evil at worst type gods but doesn't necessarily have a choice in the matter.
- Steven is petty about his depiction of Khonshu and Osiris.
- As to not out himself as a superhero, the novel isn't an exact retelling of his moon knight experience but it would probably have elements inspired from it. Additionally, I can see the main character going on antiquity retrievals similar to that of Steven Grant from the Tomb Buster films.
- I'd specifically like this to occur before Marc and Steven are formally introduced to Jake Lockley for the express purposes of freaking Jake out. Similar to how he seems to pull in things from Marc's experience like his attachment to Gus and Layla's love of French poetry, Steven names the protagonist of his book Jake and even makes him out to have similar qualities to the elusive alter.
- And the closer in similarities he gets, Jake's in the background freaking out like "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW STEVEN GRANT !?" but Jake's like 70% sure that they totally don't know about him.
- The novels may read like a love letter to Jake, as Steven depicts him as a protagonist being given impossible odds but all in all, just trying to do his best despite any mistakes and flaws. Basically, Steven makes him out to be super caring to a fault. (I WILL NOT STAND FOR JAKE LOCKLEY SLANDER. I WON'T STAND FOR EVIL ALTER NONSENSE GRRRR.)
- This would lead to Jake willingly exposing himself to his alters. I really like the idea where Jake reveals himself because he feels safe and comfortable to do so touched by Steven's depiction of him. (Though a greedy part of me just loves to imagine Jake tomato red and two seconds away from spilling his guts just so Steven would stop making him feel so embarrassed.)
- Steven's able to use his own name for the author since using "pseudonyms" for published works isn't the most outrageous idea while also providing a cover for the system's DID. The guy isn't thrilled with nicknames so being able to sign off as Steven Grant would probably be incredibly satisfying to him, despite their legal name being under Marc Spector.
- Similar to Japanese Mangaka's, Steven dresses up as Mr. Knight, mask and all to fan meetings and interviews to assist with his anonymity. It also helps tie in to how Mr. Knight is the public relations figure contrasting the hero Moon Knight in the comics pretty well.
Part 2 because I won't be silenced by the Character Limit!
(Particularly some more general MCU tie ins)
I assume the next time we'll be seeing Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight will be in a Midnight Sun's movie with Blade and Ghost Rider and I'd really love to see Dracula be the antagonist if only to have a brief scene of Moon Knight saving Reese Williams, which would also perfectly set Moon Knight up with a successor and maybe, just maybe lead to a Midnight Mission spin-off (but highly doubtful).
I think if Moon Knight were to ever have a season two Raoul Bushman would probably be the antagonist since he was established in season 1 already.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Matt Murdock, Daredevil, is Jake's lawyer in the comics, so it'd be neat to see Moon Knight in New York in order to clean up Marc's name for his alleged crimes against the archeologists and Layla's Dad.
There's a brief canon comic panel that mentions Moon Knight and Sentry having the same therapist so I'd really love to see Steven and Bob meet. I think the system overall would really thrive in a Thunderbolts AU as they'd have decent chemistry with it's members.

Hello everybody!
I know it's been pretty quiet here these days and I do want to take the time to apologize for that! My life is going CRAZY at the moment and I don't have the capacity to really interact much on here anymore and some things are just on the back burner for me currently.
Still, some of you guys came around with amazing entries for my DTIYS despite my abscene and I couldn't be happier about the entries I got.
I want to start with the runner ups first of all:
@spacemimz I love the way you implemented Mikey and how he pretty much falls into Sunny's hands! Which is.. story wise rather fitting because it was some lucky events that lead up to him unlocking the deity to begin with xD Mikey is the main focus with the glow around him and I LOVE the way you captured Sunny's smirk! He's pretty mischievous afterall.
@nights-flying-fox I have to admit, seeing a papercraft really blew me away and I absolutely LOVE the whole idea behind it! The whole 3D effect this gives is amazing, especially with Sunny's arms being put into different part as well and seeing how SMALL the parts are is truly stunning. I know out of my own experiences that cutting out tiny pieces can be infuriating and rewarding at the same time so massive kudos for that and the creativity behind it!
@ourlilangeluniverse first of all, shaking your hand in life kicking our butts, because I feel like we are both at the same point there right now 🤣 I'm still so happy to see that you found the time to challenge yourself in doing this DTIYS and the result came out great! I love the darker colors in the backfground in particular and chosing to limit Sunny's facial expression gives him a bit more mystery!
Thank you all for participating, I really appreciate it and love every single entry! I can tell you put your hearts into it and that's all I could ever ask for ❤
And now..
The Winners. Yes, as in plural.
@ubebonnie and @thegunnsara
I knew the moment you two were participating that you both would make it very hard for me to decide on a single winner. After some back and forth in my own head I was like.. "Why struggle with my own head and decide when I can do two?" And that's what I decided to do!
Bonnie, I see so much of myself in you. You put your heart and soul into your art, you make sure to strive for high amount of creativity and getting the colors just right and you stay true to your own artstyle. I can see you put everything you had into this piece and it's really blowing me away. Chosing to draw the marking as the flowers in the beginning piece (which I love, the baby Mikey is adorable), the chain starting at the sun and going to Mikey with the reveal of his new markings.. it's perfect. The hands look amazing, Sunny's smile and the more I look the more details I see and I want to DROWN in it. I love it.
Gunn, you KNOW I am a sucker for your art. Your artstyle and understanding of anatomy is on a professional level, there is no doubt about that in my eyes. The moment you posted the first WIP I knew I was in trouble and I KNEW I'd love it, no matter what direction you'd take with it. I love the way Sunny is almost blending into one and Mikey slowly unfolding to his 'final' form. The soft glow of the sun makes the whole piece feel warm and welcoming and while Bonnie's is bolt and colorful, yours is soft and heartwarming in a way. The more I write the more I realize why I had so much trouble chosing, to be honest and at the end of the day I'm still a sucker for opposites going together so in a way I find it very fitting.
Thank you both so much for participating!
I wanted to yap on this a bit more now that I have the time.
My favorite detail is probably the highlights emanating from Mikey’s hands representing the Hamatos showing their collective influence and unity, but more specifically the two sun and moon dots after Tsuki and Ammi. I also just really love the idea that golden future Mikey at his peak can yeet the sun, if not galaxies, at enemies similar to all the absurdly large things he threw at shredder and the Kraang in the canon series.
I added a couple details that reference Sunny’s growth in power and elation in Mikey’s development, amoung them being the crescent markings that grow larger the more Mikey does.
I really wanted to pay some homage to the chosen family au since I absolutely adore the turtle babies and toddler April. Such cute babies 🥰🥺. Lastly, I wanted to capture the starry eyed awe I always feel whenever I see a golden future update.
Thank you Sha for creating such gorgeous art and wonderful comics! You’re truly inspiring and motivating me to become a better artist.
