Little things abt about the Vehicons in Free Fall that I can’t directly put in the fic. :
Their serial designations denote what their given roles are within the Decepticon army, and have some info about their manufacturing as well!
“V” is the tag used for all Vehicons in the overall records system.
Next they’re referred to by their type of alt mode : “F” for Flier, and “R” for Roller.
Then their role on the ship : “M” for Miner, “S” for Surveillance/Scout, “T” for Trooper, and “I” for Intelligence.
And then the numbers at the end relate to a serial number they’re given when Vehicons are made in batches. There are other numbers as well that are part of full serial designations (ex : Silver Wind’s full serial designation is VFS-6787-56891) but most are only called by their tag letters and their serial number. The number at the end corresponds to their batch, the bigger the number, the later in the war they were created.
So VFS-6787-56891 (aka, Silver Wind), means that they’re a Vehicon Flier created for scouting and surveillance, and was number 6787 in their respective batch and was part of the 56,891st batch of flier scout Vehicons to be created.
VRM-0083-01560 (aka, Crosscut) was a Vehicon Roller created for mining, and was 0083 in his respective batch. He was part of batch 1560, so he was made much earlier on in the war than Silver Wind was.
Vehicons can come in different makes an models depending on what they’re created for.
This doesn’t just stop at being cars or jets, they can come in different sizes as well! Crosscut turned into a dump truck, and Silver Wind transforms into a smal single person jet. Crosscut was a decent bit bigger than Silver Wind as well, and they’re smaller than regular Vehicons to be harder to spot on solo missions.
All the Vehicons have the trademark Decepticon purple, but some of them can be pretty big or small depending on what they’re made for. None are made quite as big as Megatron or the Insecticons, mostly as a safety precaution.
