Okay, so I’ve never explained or talked about the characters I’m working with rn, so here’s the post!
Maria Mata is a half-Italian, half-mexican ranger who isn’t fluent in Spanish, but is known by her coworkers as a “plant whisperer.” She’s always had a green thumb, and when none of her other plans in college proved forever interesting, she decided that taking a botany and zoology class to further her knowledge would be the best use of her time.
Fun fact: Her parents hate her Scandinavian super model boyfriend.
Greggory Raines is the second black ranger that Endo Pyre State Park has ever had. He’s a proud ranger who knows a lot about the forest, but very little about himself. His insecurity surrounding who he is at a person is a much scarier fear of his than dying in the woods, but every now and then, he discovers that who he really is isn’t so scary.
Fun fact: The black ranger before him was his father, Ted Raines.
Esmond Landhorn is the leader of the rangers and the most apathetic one of them. Becoming a ranger wasn’t his first idea of a career, but turned out to be the most successful. He enjoys being in nature more than he enjoys being around people, and his coworkers know very little about him. He keeps to himself quite often.
Fun fact: He has quite a few nicknames, including Ezzy, Monday and Sugar Bear.
And Judith is an elementary school teacher who hates children. She took the job for the summers off, and she’s madly in love with Esmond. The two are romantic, but not officially dating. Maria and Greggory both think Judith is a little nuts, but Esmond thinks she’s just “eccentric.”
Fun fact: Judith is transgender, but she keeps that detail to herself 99% of the time.
