The winter holiday had officially passed and Harold was jetting off for Paris once more. And his gift to Blair this year? A room for her in his new chateau - the one he shared with his lover. It was still difficult for her to accept his new lifestyle. It was still difficult for her to accept that the life she had known for so long was over. It was a new chapter, but one she wasn't ready to begin just yet. So instead, here she sat at the Palace bar, drowning her sorrows in a glass of martini. She could feel the presence of someone next to her, but she didn't even look in their direction. "I'm not in the mood for company," she hissed.

Jenny gave Blair a shy grin, feeling relieved. She knew better than anyone that the relief would be short-lived. Blair’s seemingly calm demeanor and easy forgiveness were not lost on Jenny, who knew that Blair kept a silent tally in her mind of who mouthed off to her and her forgiveness was not that easily earned. Even so, Jenny found herself shrugging when Blair pointed out the bag she had slung over her shoulder, different swatches spilling out of it. “Oh, it’s nothing. Just feeling a bit inspired,” Jenny shrugged nonchalantly. There was no need for Blair to know that the fabric was really a pick-up for the designer she secretly worked for on the weekends. “Only, it’s about to get ruined by the fact that I seem to have misplaced my wallet.”

Of course Jenny knew this was not typical of Blair; the girl had been the queen's minion long enough to know she was not so quick to forgive. But, for now, she had no reason to jump to the offensive, at least not with Little J. If anything, she was more interested in what seemed to be the young brunette's extracurricular activities. "I didn't know you had an interest in fashion." This should have come as no surprise - Blair took little interest in the outside lives of her minions, especially those as low on the totem pole as the Brooklynite. At the mention of a wallet, Blair couldn't help but think it was hardly necessary considering how little she had to fill it with. "It's missing?" she asked, despite the fact she had little interest. "How unfortunate." For a girl like Blair, a missing wallet meant nothing; every store on the Upper East Side knew the girl - and, more importantly, her mother - by name. All she needed to do was open a new tab and every retailer knew she was good for it.

First day back to classes and I am already feeling like I’m falling behind. This stupid latin class is definitely going to be the death of me.. I don’t even understand half of the things in this book. So much for good grades this semester.

Ellie had been wandering through the shops all day, resisting the urge to go further then just window shopping, though the task had only made her more miserable. As she came along the next shop, she threw caution to the wind, stepping inside and moving along the racks of clothes, her fingers trailing along the soft fabrics. Until she saw that dress. She sighed wantonly, staring at the dress with an envy that settled deep in her stomach. She couldn’t steal the money from her mom again, the last time had been the worst and she had promised herself she wouldn’t do it again. Still….. the dress was perfection. Bound to get her noticed. She tilted her head to the left, then the right, noticing she was not under watch from any shop attendants. Before slipping the flimsy fabric from it’s hanger and tucking it to the bottom of her purse. As she moved from the rack to leave the store, she had thought she was home free when the sceruity alarms went off and Ellie’s knees went weak. “Excuse me, ma’am?” the shop attendant came from behind her, “I’m going to have to search your purse”

Engaging in a bit of retail therapy in order to mentally prepare for heading back to school, Blair was perusing the latest arrival of Manolo Blahniks when her attention was immediately drawn to the blaring sirens at the store's entrance, clearly indicating someone was trying to steal something. The girl, who looked mortified, was a somewhat familiar face. Did she go to Constance? Truthfully, Blair couldn't quite put her finger on it. Regardless, this was a situation she could use to her advantage. When the shop attendant approached the gir, Blair quickly jumped into action. "Excuse my friend," she said, standing between the woman and the other girl. "I told her I'd have the dress she was trying to purchase put on my tab, as an early birthday present. I'm sure she just got confused, thinking I had already paid for it. Here," she said, gesturing for Ellie to hand her the dress, shooting her a look that said you're welcome,"put it on my mother's account. Sorry for any misunderstanding."

Closure | Nate + Blair

Central Park in the winter had always been a weakness for Blair. A fresh dusting of snow on the ground, the ducks huddling around one another, searching the ground for scraps of food. It was no secret that this was her safe haven, her escape from her own self-built empire and all the expectations that went along with it. It was sacred, and it was hers alone. So why she had decided to tell Nate to meet her here was a mystery even to her. Was it because this felt like neutral ground? It wasn’t as though she really needed, at least not now. If anything, Nate had been acting as though everything was still normal between them, almost as if they were still together. She wondered if he had entertained the company of other women, even despite this. It hadn’t stopped him when we actually were together, she thought bitterly, deciding to push thoughts of that nature far from her mind.

The gift she had purchased for him weeks ago felt heavy in her pocket. It seemed so silly now, childish even. In just the course of a few weeks she had managed to seemingly grow up so much. This whole coming of age thing was entirely overrated – and god, did it hurt. She had always believed, truly and sincerely believed, that she and Nate would be together forever. Only now did she realize how naïve such a belief was. Did she love him? It was a question she had thought about a lot since their demise. There was no question that the breakup hurt like hell, but was it really her heart that ached? Or her pride? A part of her whispered that it was more humiliation than heartbreak. And though she was far from acceptance, a piece of her felt relieved.

There was no question that Blair had changed since her breakup with Nate, and it was terrifying to start from scratch. All her fantasies were effectively crushed, but she was learning that it didn’t have to devastating, but it could in fact be liberating. Still, what she needed from Nate now was the one thing she hadn’t gotten from him following the night she had so abruptly ended things. He couldn’t keep treating her like his girlfriend, like the one stable thing he had left in his life. Yes, she knew that whatever was happening with his family was taking its toll, but it was time for her to be selfish. His mixed signals were only serving to keep in her the past, and she needed to move on. She needed closure.

Once she saw the familiar blond approaching her, she smiled and offered a slight wave. There was a twinge in her chest telling her that he should be hers, but he wasn’t anymore. It would fade, with time. In fact, it already had.

It was an unfortunate twist of fate that just when Blair should be celebrating the arrival of a new year, she would stumblr upon her longtime enemy. And looking...somber? How odd, indeed. "Katherine Sparks, ringing in the new year alone. No surprise." If only Blair had known how fitting her words truly were.

When Jenny heard the familiar icy voice of Blair Waldorf, she immediately stopped what she was doing and looked up at the brunette in front of her. Her mouth dropped open slightly before she recovered, a blush creeping up her neck. "B- Blair. I’m, uh, I’m sorry. I didn’t see you. What are you doing here?"

The blush alone was enough to excuse the girl, and Blair cast her one of her signature condescending smirks. "All is forgiven." Unfortunately for Jenny, nothing was ever forgiven so easily in Blair Waldorf's book. The younger girl, though, had paid her dues and been at least seemingly loyal,a trait that existed in so few of her minions these days. "Fabric?" she asked, eyeing the unmistakable sheet of pattern in the girl's bag.

Vicki didn’t let any of what Blair Waldorf say hurt her. In fact, she found it quite comical. “Oh, rolling out the big insults, are you? And here I thought I was just scum of the earth from Brooklyn.” She shook her head and laughed, after Blair smased the cigarette out to the wall next to them. Okay, that pissed Vicki off. Those cigarettes were eight bucks she didn’t have. Rolling her eyes though, she shook her head at Blair and let out a dry laugh. “Have no one? Last time I checked, I have more people than you have. You know that everyone here hates you, right? Maybe you’re even proud of it, maybe it’s all just a facade you tell yourself, that being queen bee of whatever shithole you claim to think is elite is all about people hating you, but hatred runs deep. You’re still just like a lost puppy dog, aren’t you, though? You beg and lick for approval, and without it all, without the riches and the gold and the fucking little minion bitches you have, you’re what? Just like me.” Vicki smirked, and nodded.

"I am trash, I know that, but that’s what I am. Brooklyn trash to you and I’m okay with it, but you? Oh, Blair Waldorf. Some trashis just honest to god trash, like me, but some trash is even worse. It’s the kind of trash that pretends it isn’t and that is exactly what you are. Trash pretending not to be trash. You’re a fucking joke and everyone knows it. Except, of course, maybe your little bitch boy, Bass. Although I’m sure you let him fuck you once in while, just to feel something." Vicki pushed back Blair and scuffed her shoes and looked back, putting her sunglasses on. "That was a verbal spar? More like a fucking preschool spar. Come back when you want to graduate, huh? Or we can skip the verbal and go straight to me kicking your ass in a five card draw. It’ll be different, though. I’ll sprinkle gold over your body when I’m done." Vicki smiled, accomplished, shrugging. "Have a great day, Blair."

A roll of the eyes was the only satisfaction she allowed the other girl. It was an insult Blair heard often. So no one like her, what did she care? Her aim was to be respected, not adored. Did this girl know nothing of Machiavelli? “It is better to be feared than loved,” she responded with a look that said Vicki was ignorant for even suggesting otherwise. As the girl continued, Blair’s eyes furrowed as though nothing she was spouting made sense. “Do you even know what you’re saying right now? You do realize that this, the Upper East Side, is the single most wealthy and powerful corner of the entire world, right? The people who are born and bred here go on to rule the world. Just because you come from New York City’s version of the trailer park doesn’t make the UES any less powerful, or worthy of being ruled.” Blair knew this conversation was pointless before it even began, but she couldn’t help but rub it in the other girl’s face that she wasn’t and never would be part of this world.

What Vicki was saying made absolutely no sense to Blair whatsoever. “You have no fucking clue what it’s like to be in the inner circle, so stop trying to psychoanalyze me when we are from completely different worlds. I fought to be where I am, and I still fight every single day. Because people would give their limbs to be where I am. I realize that is a concept wholly unfamiliar to you – anyone actually being envious of you. You and I? We are nothing alike. It’s just what you tell yourself to make you feel the least bit better about the direction of your life. It’s pathetic, really. If I had the least amount of respect for you, I’d almost pity you.” When she brought up Chuck, Blair did her utmost to hold it together. That was the very last rumor she wanted to have to dispel, considering the consequences if it ever managed to get out. “Your delusions truly have gotten the best of you. The only joke around here, is you. People know that having my name in their mouth will result in a nairtini, but they aren’t even bothered enough with your pitiful existence to even care how fucked up you are.” At her final words, Blair just cackled. “Wow, way to use practically my own insult against me. You’re so clever I’m in awe.” In that moment, she never wished Tyler would increase his standards more. “Oh, you too. I’ll be sure to tell Dorota to leave the dog door open for when you come to visit again.”

I’ve always thought the two were better on paper than in reality, but now? Well, the friction between the two is clear as day. Is it enough to spark some fire at Constance? Can’t say, but I do know that there is nothing I’d love to see more than a power struggle between B & S. I mean, who knows your secrets like your best friend? Mix that knowledge with time of war, and you’ve got years of scandals they’re eager to use as ammunition against each other. So my thoughts? Get together and speak your peace girls, but only if it’s to raise some hell.

Blair was right, he couldn’t even imagine her skipping class. At least not in high school. Maybe, once she’d graduate from Constance, she’d become a typical college student wearing pajamas’s to their morning class and sipping coffee like she was breathing air, but Eric doubted it. In fact, he doubted she’d even move into the dorms because she wanted to. Even at Yale, they couldn’t be as luxurious as at home, right? Plus, there’d be no Dorotha. In all honesty, Eric was extremely curious as to how Blair would survive college, but knowing it was Blair and knowing she tended to get through everything seemingly unharmed, he was fairly certain she’d do so glamorously. “Maybe you’re not programmed that way, but still, I have a tip for you: don’t pick classes before ten AM. You won’t make them, I guarantee you. And, you may want to slow down on romanticizing Yale. I mean, I don’t want to ruin anything, but you should be aware that it may not be everything you’ve dreamed of. I don’t want your illusion to be better than the real thing.”

"Really? You have?" he asked with a smile. “In that case, I’ll just have to stop by your home on my way back and search the place, while you continue the Christmas shopping,” he joked. It as easy being himself around Blair, even though most people (read: almost everyone) thought she was a difficult person. Of course, Eric knew that she could act difficult, but there was still a difference between beind difficult and acting difficult. Besides, they’d grown up together, he knew her by now. And they were friends, good friends even, so it wasn’t like she saw him like one of her minions at school. “Fine, I’ll wait. But you should know that I hate waiting, and that I’ll go crazy in the meantime.”

Although she smiled and nodded along like she agreed, his words truthfully went in one ear and out the other. Since she could remember her father bragged on his alma mater, and all she’s thought about is what it would be like when she finally enrolled herself. There was no way her experience could be sullied; no, Blair knew it would be just as incredible as she always knew it would be. Eric, though, didn’t understand. He couldn’t. Being a van der Woodsen was so much different from being a Waldorf. There were no expectations, and the absence of a certain drive to succeed. But instead of elaborating, she just smiled, trying her best not to look condescending. “Well, I’m a morning person,” she assured him. Blair had half a mind to tell him that after the failure of her relationship with Nate, nothing could really disappoint her anymore – but given the circumstances, and who else to blame for the unraveling, she opted against it.

“I wouldn’t try it. Dorota is trained even against the KGB, you wouldn’t stand a chance.” She replied with a smile, but there was no falsity in her words. Blair was the type of girl who took everything incredibly seriously, and she was always, always prepared for anything. “You should know it will be after New Years since I’m spending Christmas with my father while he’s in town. I haven’t seen him in months so I doubt there will be any free time. But don’t worry, I think you’ll live,” she told him with a smirk and a coy wink. Glancing down at her watch her eyes got wide when she realized the time. “Oh my god, I am so far behind. I have to go. But I want to catch up after Christmas, okay? Don’t study too hard in the meantime.”
