Bald-faced hornet’s nest forming outside one of my windows on the electrical meter. Unfortunately we had to move the nest. This tiny thing can grow into a colony of hundreds and we walk by this pole multiple times a day. Our pup Finn would also be in danger of getting stung.
Hornets and wasps are important pollinators and most wasps are docile. We have multiple wasp nests forming on the eve of our house that we’ll leave alone. The nests are high enough that they’re unlikely to get defensive. Hornets, on the other hand, are a different story and this nest was at eye-level. The resident hornets were not killed! Just relocated deeper into the forest.
