My ramblings here will mostly be whatever cosplay/s I’m obsessed with at the moment and other randomness. I love Revolutionary War living history. The group I’m with is a British regiment. At reenactments I portray a boy that’s just old enough to join the war. He’s from a Loyalist family that live in the colonies. Instead of entering into his apprenticeship as a tailor, he joins the war. During down time in camp, he mends uniforms. The name I use at events is Christopher Dawson. He has an older sister named Elizabeth and a younger brother named Thomas. On the rare occasions when I wear a dress I’m Elizabeth Dawson …Christopher’s older sister.

I also do WWII events as an American riveter and factory worker and go by Margret O'Hara (in honor of my grandma who worked as a riveter in WWII). When I do events in British camps.. I portray a member of the Women's Voluntary Service. The name go by is Katherine O'Hara.. cousin to Margret. Whichever side I'm with at the time.. I use talking about my "cousin" ..as a way to show what jobs and roles women took on in WWII in America and Great Britain.

Nothing like last minute... at last have all the buttons I need for the coat! Even this turned into an ordeal. All I needed was two bloody small red buttons. I went allll over the place and NO ONE had them and that's like THE most basic thing. Ended up having to order them online... in a pack of 130 ...when all I needed was two!
All of this for two stupid red buttons that I didn't get till the day before the con! This is what I get for seeking out high res images with allll the details! XD
Yayyyy more fabric I’m very very happy with! These are for the coat. Even though I’m doing a fem version of the 12th Doctor.. coats are coats so that part will be that same. Wellll technically, female coats are buttoned differently ..but anyway.
Even though I have a good TV and BBC is in HD, under TV lightning it’s hard to tell the weight, texture, (and most importantly) the proper color for the fabric of the coat. Even with high res images online it’s hard to tell. But going by what info about it I could find, I got the best dark navy wool and deep red satin I could find. Then I had a heck of a time trying to get a pic of these and have the colors look the way they do in real life ….so if it doesn’t look it, that’s what colors/textures they are.
I just hope the jacket comes out looking like the real one because I kissed my paycheck goodbye on both of these! XDD
it's been cold/freezing and rainy and shitty for a week. for all the times i WISHED i lived in england... i know i'm probably getting a dose of reality for how things actually ARE are there ...and i realize yeah ...being here's good ...thanks! At least here I get sun and warmth (sometimes) and four cons within 20 minutes of me .... the last of those being the most important thing XD
Hard to believe that by this time next week I’ll be at the hotel looking out over the city at Geek Media Expo!! Sooo happy that, yet again, I get to be at a con ON Halloween!!!! ^_^ …..and also, again, I get to be at a con when the time changes and falls back… yay extra hour of sleep when I’ll need it most! LOL
Still have soo much to do! Working on my fem version of the 12th Doctor from 'The Magician’s Apprentice’. This is the fabric I found for the bottoms….
Because I’m doing a fem version, instead of doing the pants, I’m using this to make a mini skirt. I really love it and that it matches the original so well. The only down side is that it’s reallllly itchy wool! fml Which means I have to make a lining for underneath so the skirt won’t annoy my legs to death DXX Even though that’s more work, I’m still happy because no other fabric came close and I feel soo lucky to have found this!
Really fell in love with The Magician's Apprentice episode of Doctor Who and Peter Capaldi, actually PLAYING guitar in it (and for those that don't know ..no ..that was not faked or a double).. and it inspired an idea for a new cosplay. I've wanted to do something new ...but it was like idk what else to do companion wise and was kinda burnt out on that ...then watching that.. it completely hit me..... a punk rock/schoolgirl fem version of 12!
I really LOVE the retro slim-fit Crombie coat and wanted to have a go at it.. . as well as have an excuse to blow some budget doing it! XDD
Instead of the dress shirt and Crombie cardigan... I'm making it more femme looking with a scoop neck twofer.. which is like a sweater vest and dress shirt in one. Switching out the trousers for a dark pleated skirt with solid dark thigh highs ...and, thankfully, I have a pair of Doc Martens ....because it's good when your new cosplay doesn't cost you your soul! LOL .....no seriouslly ...the coat is going to be baddd enough! >.<
Trading for my friend's wig that's curled at the bottom and the curls have died. Lopping that off and using where it's nice and straight.. then snip and style so it has a nice punk rock look. (Joan Jett's hair will be a source of inspiration) It's a nice mix of smoky white, light grey, and dark grey.. LOVE the color because it looks more natural and not just a boring flat grey that looks like deck paint! >.< Then adding a red clip-in streak for a highlight and to make it look even more punk rock. Picked red as the highlight color as it matches the lining of the jacket and throught it would look good.
Just hope at some point there's better pics of the ring. Like to try and get something similar and can't tell if it's just a band or what ...or I'll just wear the man's ring I have that fits my left ring finger.
LOL friend sent me this for ruining her Saturday night killing the flow of the show by pointing out that Davros monologues like a Bond villian .....because THAT always works out soo well!
...I then made it worse giggling.... "You expect me to talk?" "No Doctor ..I expect you to die!" XDD

THE DOCTOR AND CLARA ROCK OUT AT THE BEATLES’ ABBEY ROAD CROSSING

I miss tumblr soo much!! ...the epic people here and your art and stories and cosplay makes life soo much better and being without it makes me realize how much I love having it in my life. Sadly computer woes are no fun! Laptop was running slow so took to Best Buy (where I got it from). They ran a diagnostic and yeah.. hard drive. So had to get a new one. Over the phone they told me I'd have to order one... sure because yeahh.. I know how to order computer innards! DXX Went to the store and they had one there.. and on sale.. it would take three days to fix it. Called to check on it... and they told me what they said the first time ..that I needed to get a new hard drive. ....that's funny because according to my credit card and receipt from the store.. I had spent over $100 on a new one last week!! Not only that but they called the wrong number so it sat even longer. On top of it they were reading the info from the repair ticket (before I came in) and what they meant to say was the hard drive they sold me wouldn't work in it... nice to know they're just as confused about it as I am! The good thing was ...because they boched things soo much.. they were sending it out overnight to their regional Geek Squad repair center (where they had the hard drive it needs) and not only do I get my money back for everything... the repairs and new hard drive will be free!!! Just hope the old drive's not too dead so they can transfer everything because I was working on a new cosplay related project for tumblr and it would suck to lose everything! : ( On the plus side.. my friend's been letting me use her laptop for projects and labs ..so there's been bonus hang out time and too much Starbucks!
yayyy more 'adventures' with Kaito Kid!! I sooo want to see this! Hard to believe that Detective Conan's been around since 1996 ..and this is the 19th movie!! O.O
