I can't get a grip, But I can't let go || Aden ||Motive ((Open))

Aden Nodded at juliabot. This was some motive. It was. something. Aden couldn’t in good conscious let this one go. Not after everything he’d done to keep people alive Not after this. Not anymore.

“No more.“ 

Aden kinda motioned to his classmates. The few of them left. He needed their attention if only momentarily. 

"Ah excuse me. I know i’m kinda the last person to be asking for anything, Especially after being so selfish, But i can’t just let everyone die. Even if some of them….”

He glanced at Kai and Yumiko

“Anyway. Um…I don’t think it’s fair to let anyone die when there’s a murderer walking right around y'all. So…Um…Please kill me. I’ve already died once y'all. It’s…It’s not that bad honestly. So um… Yeah… If you really wanna help anyone please Just. Don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll help any way i can. I can’t really In good conscious say i’ll help you get away with it but i don’t mind dying again for a good cause.

So that was something. Aden’s bold declaration was offset be a slightly sad and defeated tone of voice and slumped shoulders. He wandered away from the group towards the upstairs area. Nice Nice.

His promise made her heart hurt.

He and others were saying they’d get out of here but Higanbana was finding it harder and harder to believe. And here was Aden, her little brother, trying to tell her the same and make her feel better and Haha…a big sister was supposed to protect her little brother…some sister she was, huh?

And it was amazing, really…

“Y-You’re so confident, Aden-kun…” Higanbana chuckled humorlessly as she drew back, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. “E-Even after what happened to you, you’re still swearing we’ll get out, we’ll be okay - I’ll be okay… I-I envy that about you, little brother, okay? Never lose that.”

“I-I’ll do my best to protect you too, okay? I w-won’t let you die again.”

Won’t let him die again. That was an odd thought. HE’d died once. Faced death and come out of it. Even if he died again he’d get her out. He would.

“Higanbana You’ve been through so much. You don’t need to.”

He smiled  at her and gently patted her hair. 

“Once we’re out. When this is all over. We can go to The bakery...Or the farm.”

He said it with a smile on his face even though he knew this probably wouldn’t last. This friendship. After this was all over  they would all go their separate ways. Making promises he couldn’t keep made him uneasy.

“I....I like your hair. I don’t think i’ve ever seen it down.”

Something else to talk about would be good. Something to...Change the conversation.

Higanbana paused en route to the ‘Not Have’ room. She’d gone to get a snack - there were still a lot of those treats she’d made during her all-nighter, and some of them would keep for a while. So she was bringing back some madelines with her when Aden’s voice sounded.

She stopped, heart jumping in her throat when she heard him. Never was right after all…sure she had seen him in the living room but it hadn’t felt real then. Now it did. And knowing what she did…it hurt. She wasn’t fully sure why but it did.

“Aden-kun…”

The tray of sweets was set down, Higanbana was striding over to him resolutely…

…and then she dropped to her knees and hugged him tight, one hand idly petting his hair as she tried not to cry.

“Aden-kun…! Oh my God, I…it’s alright, sweetie, you’ve nothing to…I’m not angry at you, not really, I…I’m so glad I didn’t lose you, too…” Her grip on him tightened at those words. She hadn’t voted for him in the trial, even when the evidence looked more and more likely. She couldn’t do it - eve if he were killed and stayed that way, she didn’t want to be contributing to it. She couldn’t stand the idea of losing her little brother too… “I’m glad you’re still with us…I’m so glad…”

She was glad? She was happy that he was alive, or mostly alive? No he killed people, he killed two people. This was wrong, it was so wrong. She was hugging him. It felt nice. It felt so nice to just be held. He felt it. He was crying again. But he wasn’t sad. He was so happy.

“I’m..I’m alive.”

Higanbana was so sweet. Always. Even if she was miserable, and boy could he see she was miserable. She was so kind. Aden wrapped his arms around her. reciprocating the hug.  

“I...I don’t I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to leave everyone. I’ll...I’m going to protect you. I’m going to keep you safe. Until the day you’re home safe and sound i promise nothing bad will happen to you. Even if i can’t stick around ta see it i’ll keep you safe. I promise.”

He already died once. He had nothing else to loose so if he could keep higanbana safe he would even at the cost of his second life. Besides this body he was in would never age. It would break down eventually sure but how long was eventually? He couldn’t live a normal life anymore anyway. 

“I. You. We will make it out of here we’re in the home stretch. We can do this.”

Experiment 4: Like Plants, He Grows On You | Aden | Execution

Never did not come out for this rounds execution, reminiscent of your first weeks here in the Big Brother house. Then, she was simply hiding her identity, but this time, she didn’t seem to be around. Suppose it couldn’t be helped, she must be preparing to bring Aden back to life on such short notice. Ah, it can’t be helped. So, Juliabot raises her microphone, giving a giggle as she has been silent this whole trial. With a whirl and a twirl, she scampers over and pushes Aden through the door where all the previously executed went in previous weeks.

The curtain closes || Aden || Re: Akane & Higanbana

Aden didn’t deserve this comfort. He was a monster that killed two people. A tiny adorable monster. He knew what was coming for him soon and he… welcomed it. He knew nobody could stave off death forever. and in this house, It was just accelerated. Akane wrapped her arms around him, he shook his head.

“Akane. You…You were the most responsible out of all of us. You’re still the same you what when you came to the house. If anyone could have gotten them help it was you. I’m sorry i couldn’t get you out. You deserved so much better. I’m going to miss you, really I am, but please don’t worry about it. I did the crime so i have to do the time. Please protect them Akane.”

It just looked like his clock had broken. Out of time. Aden smiled as he wriggled from Akane’s grasp to look at the girl holding his hand. Higanbana. Higanbana who through all of this looked devastated. If Aden had one regret about this. It was she was going to be lonely. 

“Sis. Please stay strong. I’m so sorry for what i did. I am. But you are so close. Don’t watch when it happens. And when never gives you the opportunity. Take him down. RuYi, He didn’t leave this message behind for me. He left it for you. And Nayeli, and Wakana, and Shizuko, and everyone. So you can’t shut it out. Not yet. I know it hurts, i know it feels hopeless. but i believe in you. You can do it. You can because you’re my big sister.”

Aden squeezed her hand a final time and then kind of handed her off to Akane. His friends. They would be sad, they would live. 

“Juliabot, If you’d like i’m ready to start.

Now they're all dead hearts to you || Aden || Re:Yumiko, Nayeli ATTN:KAI

Aden looked like he was at the point of breaking, Like he was about to collapse and cry and that’s….exactly what he did. Tears broke over the edge of his eyes and his shoulders heaved. He hiccuped through the gross sobbing noises that filed the courtroom. 

“I…You’re right Yumiko…Ya got no re-reaason to believe me. Nobody saw me. Nobody be-beleives me. I…D-did it. You all believe it now don’t you.“ 

He looked over at Higanbana who was standing next to Nayeli. He didn’t want to give Nayeli the impression he was talking to her exactly but what else could he do at this point? Where people stood and what they did, He couldn’t control it. 

"I didn’t…I didn’t kill RuHui…I know that’s what you all think happened. but that’s not…It’s not true. 

He did his best to paw at the tears. The sleeve was torn and if you looked close enough you could see red welts in his hands and arm. Presumably from the glass. 

I…Miss Ritsuka… She was going to attack me.. She had a kitchen knife and i..I panicked…T-the glass…The spear was behind the glass…I didn’t have time to think…  I smashed it….She didn’t…. I didn’t mean to…. IT all just happened so fas….

Another round of hysterical sobbing started up and after a few seconds of this particular outburst it subsided he sniffled and continued on with his explanation. 

"Ru Hui…He walked in on me after she….And after i… He made me a d-deal, He had a message. He said he didn’t want to…He said he had to die….So… He promised if he helped me… He said…I should tell you all…”

He took a deep breath in once again pawing at his eyes to wipe away any remaining tears. His face was red and puffy where he had been swiping. He looked like hell. Like pure hell.

“ He said i should just stay quiet. He said i’d survive this. But….I guess he’s not good at keeping promises huh? The Rube Goldberg machine was his. He activated it. RuHui…He did kill himself. Or maybe i did. It’s to late to ask for that all cleared up. The sting was short because i was part of the machine. I held the string, Ru hui pulled my arm, the machine went off.”

He looked across to Akane, a short grim smile twitching at the corner of his lips as he did. Akane, Aden thought, was the person who kept the most of themself.

“I was going to get Akane out, And use my wish to bring everyone back…. but…Thanks to RuHui, Who made a deal with Never, I know, And i haven’t made a deal with Never so I can tell you.”

Aden Turned to Kai and Yumiko, His smile grew wide. Tears flowed again. It was so quiet all around him. In that moment, That singular moment in time, Aden was so happy. No he wasn’t happy how he got here, He wasn’t happy about dying or the pain that would come with it, He wasn’t even happy that they would have to do this all again, some other time to nail the bastard. No Aden’s happiness wasn’t in the current situation, but in the acceptance he had gained throughout his time here. Aden accepted that this was the last gift he could give his classmates, after everything that had happened.   

“RuHui’s dying message, The one he couldn’t tell anyone because Never held his secret over him, Was that Kai is the mastermind of this game, and Yumiko has been helping him. He never gave specifics, but he wanted for certain that I tell you. ”

Looking down at his podium Aden locked in a vote. He looked back up to the crowd and spoke in english this time, the words rolling out of his mouth much more naturally than they had ever come out in japanese.

“{I voted for myself…so, that’s the end of that. I know after lyin ta you all, ya got no reason to believe me But Mr.Chen, RuHui…It was his last request. It honest to god was. If i have said one true thing in this trial. This was it.}"

I could say it but you wouldn't beleive me, say you do but you don't deceive me / Aden / Re:Higanbana & Akane

“Th-Than leaves A-Aden-kun, you, and m-me.”

Aden wasn’t sure how to respond to that. So he just kinda shook his head. He wasn’t really prepared for this. He did his best to blurt out something.

“B-but the only reason i even spoke up at all was cuz Miss yumiko found my shirt, and i didn’t want t- want to get a misunderstanding… Besides just cus they’ve been all quiet doesn’t mean they couldn’t have been the culprit.”

Aden gripped his podium and looked out at Akane then Higanbana, They were the only two people who had even acknowledged him since he came to his house. He put his faith in them. He hoped they would understand him. 

“I didn’t do it! I know that you think i did it. I know both of you think i did it. but i didn’t do it. I didn’t like RuHui but i wouldn’t kill him! I didn’t.“ 

Aden just kinda stood there. His outburst was…IT seemed it was over now. He just hung his head.The only people he actually thought friends let him down. After anger, sadness, apathy, when his friends abandoned him he felt….hopeless.

It's hard to know that they still care / Aden / Re: Yumiko

Aden smiled holding up his sleeve hands open palmed, The fabric was torn and his hand looked well like there were cuts all over it. They were just starting and already Yumiko wanted to try and incriminate him. It was very rude.

“Ah yeah I did, i tripped while i was investigatin, I didn’t have time to switch my shirts out and i really didn’t think ta pick up the scraps. I’m sorry for leavin somethin behind all dumb like. That’s my bad, Sorry miss Yumiko.”

IT was….Well Honestly aden only seemed half there. his gaze wandered around the room to each of his classmates, To the robot children to the door they’d all came in through. To Nayeli having another panic attack. Aden would have gone to comfort her but realistically he knew he couldn’t do anything for her. He should let her friends handle this.  

“Did anyone actually know Miss Ritsuka? I mean i tried to talk to her when we entered the house but….I feel so bad she’s never… She never got to make friends.”

It's hard to know they're out there/Aden/ Trial

What else could he do, time to trial. 

Aden took his place at the podium and cleared his throat. He let everyone else say their peice and then he just…jumpped right into it all. 

“Uh…The only thing i found was what was in the weapons room really. I didn’t investigate the bodies to hard. There was a hammer in the gun case and somethin was missin our of more than just that. Another case was smashed open. I reckon the hammer did the smashin…”

Aden swallowed a lump in his throat and continued.

“I’m…Sorry i wasn’t much help. I couldn’t even investigate without trippin over my own two feet.”

He looked down at the floor.

“I couldn’t even do that right.”

They had lights inside their eyes/ Aden/ Body reaction

Well shit. Honestly what the hell. Aden had enough of a time investigating one body, now there were two. Aden never cared for Ru. That much was a given. But honestly now that he was dead Aden felt soul crushing remorse he never at least gave him a shot. Maybe he was a decent person but Aden would never know. It made him sick. The condition of the body, The smell of blood, The room itself. 

Aden slowly backed out of the room. Nope. Nope he wasn’t dealing with this. Not today. Sorry Ritsuka apparently Aden couldn’t be bothered to investigate you. As was beginning to become tradition the useless potato child retreated to the bedroom and laid on his bed. His very cold bed. 

He just laid there staring at the wall. What an amazing reaction to your friends being dead you shitty potat child.

That…took her off-guard. She had to think about that…But not for very long.

Higanbana frowned into her cup, mulling over her thoughts.

“…I don’t…think she is. We don’t know a lot about her, it’s true. We don’t know why she’s doing this - if she does it for selfishness or if someone is forcing her to do it, but… She’s seemed so happy this whole time. She laughed at Allen-kun before he died, she’s happy to take us to our deaths, she’s perfectly happy about all this…

"I don’t know why she’s doing this, but I don’t think she’s a good person… And you know me, I haven’t really gotten upset at or yelled at anyone in here before!” She smiled briefly at her own quip, then her expression grew solemn again. “Why? Have you been thinking about her?”

Aden nodded, Higanbana was right as usual. He had been thinking about never, he’d been thinking about everyone. 

“ I just. I know she’s done horrible things, Really I do. But somewhere in my heart, or maybe i’m just dumb, I just can’t believe she’d do all this if she didn’t have a reason. and her reason, her means might not justify the ends, but i just i don’t think anyone is 100% a bad person, i....”

He paused mid sentence.

“Anyway. I actually really don’t think i mind it here, Minus the murdering and people being sad all the time. It’s oddly peaceful for a hospital type place. I mean hospitals are scary most of the time arent they? but we’ve gotten so used to the house this just doesn’t feel different.”

Higanbana took a drink of coffee before speaking.

“I mean…it’s an interesting one, I guess? An unexpected one - I never would have thought they’d actually offer to let someone go.”

She looked up at Aden, smiling weakly as she lowered the cup to her lap.

“It’s still terrible that we’d have to kill in order to make it happen but…It took me by surprise, I guess. I mean, after everything else that happened, I would have thought the motive would be…I dunno, ‘We’re gonna cut the lights until you kill’ or 'We’re going to slowly starve everyone.’ It’s just…different.”

It wasn’t good by any stretch of the means. Just…quite the motive.

“I agree with you though…it’s not worth it. Never always twists her promises anyway, she’d probably just kill whoever the culprit wanted to save and say 'Hey, they’re not in the game anymore’ or something.”

Aden Nodded along. Higanbana was right.

“Never...”

He sighed. It was a heavy sigh, he was tired.

“Do you think she’s not a bad person? I mean she’s a really horrible person to all of us. that’s true and ain’t changing, but do you wonder her reason for workin with the mastermind? It can’t all be for fun can it? She said she needs the bodies for something but....”

Aden shook his head sadly Fiddling with buttons on his shirt.

“I don’t know Maybe she is just doin this for herself...I don’t know.”

Higanbana sat in the main room, in the chair Suzu had been found in. Kind of morbid, she guessed, but…

Suzu. She wondered if she and Meihua had figured things would go this way. Probably not…if not, they might never have made their agreement. One or bth of them could still be here. Higanbana could very well be sitting and sharing her coffee with Suzu, or showing Meihua how to cook. Like she’d shown Eri how to make that pineapple upside-down cake, how Yumiko had helped her make a cherry-chocolate cake.

…but then who would be gone in their place? Akane? Then she might never have had peaches with them… Kai? Ru Hui? Aden?

…it was so weird to think about. How if one thing had changed, one thing gone a different way, then she might never have befriended this person, how she might have done something with that person instead… Life was strange.

Someone entered the room, and Higanbana lowered her cup, a wry smile on her face. “Hi. Quite the motive, hm?”

She had nothing else to say about that. It was quite the motive…

Aden had been thinking about things, Not in a life changing world ending type of way but he wondered honestly if things would ever just go back to school days and simple friends. 

Aden had yet to settle down somewhere. He tried getting comfortable in the bedroom, He tried walking outside, He even tried sitting at the edge of the pool. Nothing really stuck. He was going to try the kitchen but then he saw Higanbana. Higanbana was one of the only two people that ever treated Aden like a person, not like some stupid kid that didn’t know what he was doing. 

He was but Higanbana never made him feel like it. 

Aden shuffled over to the sofa across from where she was sitting. He lazily flumped down onto this Weirdly soft couch. It didn’t match the surroundings.

“I’m not sure I understand what ya mean. It’s very nice to think about and all but, you’d have to kill someone for it. I don’t think it’s worth it.”

What else was there. Aden was...Surprised Higanbana thought it was good to say the least.

Being drugged was something that Yumiko wasn’t exactly too happy about, just let her see what the place was really like…she loved hospitals after all. Being the daughter of a brain surgeon she spent a lot of time in her mothers hospital making flowers for some of the patients that her mother worked on.

“Huh? Oh…yeah… it’s no problem…I take it upon myself as my job I suppose…”

She awkwardly shuffled her feet in place before moving closer to Aden, this was nerve wracking to say the least she was still somewhat terrified of the potato farmer…

“I’d like to say it’s okay but…it wasn’t. Ru Hui-kun…he isn’t very nice at all, and there has been times ive almost hit him myself but I had to refrain, violence scares me…this places amount of murder scares me….”

This place was like a nightmare on loop that only triggered her illness even more so…so she was constantly in the state of [REDACTED]

“I can…try and forgive you…I..don’t want to make anymore enemies here. I know I have to be one if not the most hated person right now…for killing Eri-chan”

She felt a roar of pain in her chest and then stomach, tears wanting to come to her eyes but refused. She missed Eri…what had she done? But at the same time Eri had used her then tossed her aside so easily….did Eri really even love her? She seemed to love Ru Hui more than anyone else.

Aden shook his head. Yumiko was wrong. Well okay techinally she was right her vote had contributed to the demise of Eri but that’s not how Aden saw the outcome of the trial. Aden noticed the way she shuffled on her feet. She was still afraid of him. 

“No. That’s wrong. You didn’t kill her. Eri-sama was killed by Never and whoever trapped us here. So unless you’re sayin your the mastermind behind all of this. You didn’t kill Eri.“

Aden wished Yumiko would at least trust him not to hurt her. Besides what he’d done to RuHui in a moment of well...Complete and total anger he didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He could understand why she was afraid of him but hey. If she was willing to at least try to forgive him that was good enough.

“Besides i...Don’t think you’re the most hated person in the house. I know Midori still likes you. And other people too....Furusawa is the only one that will tolerate me. So um...I guess i understand what you’re going through?” 

The inflection in his voice defiantly punctuated that as a question but rest assured that wasn’t his intent.
