Trash is a universal subject matter, like food or clouds. It's also temporary and unceasing at the same time; a great river flowing through all of our lives practically unnoticed, buried as deep as we can manage.
Another small study from earlier this week. Been pretty busy lately but I'm making it a point to paint something small every night.
Little watercolor sketch from last night.
Some shots from last week in Capitola, CA. I've been getting back into film photography lately. Minolta X-700, 50mm, Fujifilm 200.
Trash study from a few months ago. Definitely one of my favorite subjects to paint.
I painted this one not long after the first. I don’t know why I didn’t post it sooner. I’d like to have consistency across my social media (and post more to tumblr) but it’s tough. Also, I’d like to paint more but it’s tough. I have so many other photos of tagged vans/trucks from around my neighborhood ready to be painted though.
Here’s to a better effort in 2025.
(Process shots ‘cause I’m cool like that.)
This one was fun. Based on a photo I took a couple blocks away.
Another watercolor car.
A small watercolor sketch I did last night. Might be the first result I'm actually happy with. I have a hard time working from photos/life because I get stuck on getting proportions right. This time I just let it go. Excited to keep learning watercolors.

Maybe I don't put as much energy or focus into poetry as I should, but I haven't given it up. It's such an interesting art form, and I truly love language and all its intricacies. This one was in my notes for a while--probably longer than it should've been. In general, I just want to make art. This is a small meditation on that pursuit.
