advice for my young followers
there’s no shame in admitting you were on the wrong side of something before you were given the proper information to make an educated decision of your own. Growth is important, you’re going to change your opinions, learn new things, meet new people. Look back on the past to stay humble, not to shame yourself.
you don’t have to grow up anything like your parents, you are shaped as a person by the people you choose to be around, and by the people you respect, not just your family. Just because they had a hand in creating your physical self does not mean they get to create your personality, your kindness, and your love.
when you say something offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic, which you will because everyone says something offensive at some point even if they don’t realize. Don’t get mad when you get called out, it feels embarrassing, but it’s not about how it makes you feel, it’s about how it hurt someone else. Listen, learn, apologize.
ignore all of the beauty bloggers telling you quick tips to lose weight, that tea won’t give you a flat tummy, that restricting diet won’t make you happy. They get paid to lie to you, don’t let them make money off of your unhappiness.
it’s okay to enjoy things that are labeled as “cringy” other people don’t decide on what you should appreciate. As long as you’re not hurting anyone, there’s no problem. Wear that funky shirt, do your makeup in crazy colors, dance awkwardly, listen to that artist, reference memes and act weird. Life is cringy, so be yourself.
Compliment people everywhere you go, tell that girl her dress is pretty, tell your friend they look wonderful today. And on the flip side, compliment yourself. You’re allowed to look in the mirror and say, damn I look good. Be confident in your self.
