A candid shot of Frank Sinatra.
Bad idea or not, Roger knew what the drinks were, and whether or not Cornel should be drinking them. Dextro drinks, for example, were clearly labeled so that even the engineer would know not to drink them. Mojitos, however, were tame enough in Roger’s opinion.
"That would be rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water and mint~ They are quite nice, although rum can have a strong taste." He smiled and nodded, tapping a finger on the counter top. "Drinking one should be fine for you."
The engineer was more enthused at the idea that he actually chose something Roger felt comfortable giving him. Cornel nodded, smiling again as his eyes lit up, watching as his friend played cool against the counter towards the bartender.
Cornel looked over, watching as the bartender made her way over towards the two. He sat up a little, feeling pretty good with the amount that he'd already drank, "The... mo....jito!" He said almost quietly, yet excited to have said it, then, without second thought, he looked over towards Roger. Blinking a few times to get approval yet again.
One Year Later

The feeling of her back being pressed against the wall was so foreign, something she hadn’t done in a long time. If anybody else had tried anything even remotely close to this, she would be gone. But something about his words, his touch, his eyes, made her almost enjoy it.

Cornel couldn't help but wonder what was going through his lover's mind. His mind was lost, almost as if he were a tiger circling his prey. The engineer was hesitant, but knew what both of them wanted. It'd been so long since he'd been this close to anyone. The last time he was this close with her was a few weeks before she up and disappeared. That didn't stop him from knowing what he was doing.
The engineer’s expression changed to shock, unsure why asking for something different was a bad thing. But, in regards to his friend, he trusted him, and wouldn’t argue.
The young male nodded, a short smile filling his lips, “Okay, Roger.” Cornel wasn’t ready to get on Roger’s bad side, it wasn’t his intent at all. But still, he wondered if they could have something different, whether it were stronger than what they were currently drinking or not, “What about… something less fruity? Doesn’t have to be strong.” He tilted his head, hoping it was an okay request.
Roger nodded, satisfied with the altered question. Then he cleared his throat, covering his mouth with a fist and looking away. “…I enjoy the fruity drinks…” then his gaze flit back to Cornel, and he smiled, “I suppose we can move on to something different.” He picked up a menu and slid it across the counter to Cornel’s side.
"Go ahead. You should at least look at your options, and I’ll make sure you don’t choose anything too strong."
Giving Cornel the option to choose something wasn't a good idea. He knew absolutely nothing about alcohol and wasn't sure if he'd even remotely like the taste of half the things on the list.
He swallowed, looking down at the list with full interest. His brows inched together as he read through the list. It wasn't a very long list, but enough to make him wonder, he knew to stay away from the Krogan drinks, that would knock anyone out. He figured he would go with a more human oriented drink, "Uh... what's... a mo...jito..." He probably butchered the way it's supposed to be said, but regardless, looked up at his friend with an impressed smile plastered across his face.
The idea still stirred uneasily inside the young male. He looked over towards his emptied glass, wondering if they should try something stronger, he took a deep breath, knowing he needed it.
He relaxed his shoulders a bit, nodding at his friend only to give him eye contact, “You’re… right, but…” Cornel’s lip quirked slightly, “Eh, it’s… I guess you’ve… seen and done worse…” He looked back over to his empty glass, lifting it in between the two, “Is… there… something stronger, Roger?” Shamefully, the engineer looked at his close friend, almost certain Roger wouldn’t want anything strong going into the young male.
Roger’s brows knit together, his lips forming a thin line. “You know the answer to that, and I am sure you know what my response will be.” It was obvious that Roger’s statement had bothered Cornel, but if he needed alcohol to come to terms with it, their friendship would likely end on what was supposed to be a pleasant night.
Of course, this sort of thing wasn’t uncommon for Roger, and it showed in the challenging look in his eyes, daring Cornel to say something. If he had a problem, then he needed to be able to voice it.

Roger quirked a brow at the engineer’s question, maintaining eye contact as he swirled is drink absently. “Why not? Excitement, combat, credits…granted, the Alliance offers all of those things, but with the added rules and red tape to make it complicated.” He shrugged, swallowing the drink and setting the glass down with a soft sigh.
"You forget that you are friends with a monster, Cornel. Such things excite me."
