We worked hard on this record - through heavy hearts & long weeks of separation. Several of the songs were written in response to a shooting of two black kids in Olympia by police. The world is a fucking horrible unsafe place but this band exists for the queers, especially q/tpoc. We are here, we believe you, you are not the only one. We will fight anyone who fucks with you.

Real name: Nieves Fernandez  Born: circa 1906 Died: unknown Birthplace: Leyte, The Philippines Meet Captain Nieves Fernandez, the only known Filipino female guerrilla leader and school teacher. When the Japanese came to take the children under her care she shot them. She didn’t hide in a closet, she didn’t put up a gun free zone sign, she shot them in the face with her latong (a home made shotgun). She then went on to kill over 200 Japanese soldiers during the war with a group of commandos and holds the distinction as the only female commander of a resistance group in the Philippines.  In this photo she is showing U.S. Army Pvt. Andrew Lupiba how she used her bolo to silently kill Japanese sentries during the occupation of Leyte Island. Note she doesn’t have a “Gun Free Zone” and isn’t carrying a poster on a stick saying #DemandAction or #gunsense: She has an M1 carbine with a 15 round magazine.

Currently reading “A Queer and Pleasant Danger” by Kate Bornstein and she keeps talking about how associated her ED and her skinniness with femininity and how it made her feel more like a girl and it’s getting really hard to read.  Like she’s not talking about it in a good way or like she feels this way still, and is talking about the bad shit too, but fuck... it’s real hard to read
